Shame not to see Szun Waves place.

budo jeru, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:12 (seven years ago)

simmy simmy ya, simmy yam simmy yay (voodoo chili), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:12 (seven years ago)

We were never Breeting Borting (President Keyes), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:12 (seven years ago)

Eight hours of Autechre, Jesus Christ!

Tuomas, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:12 (seven years ago)

lower than I expected!

bhad bundy (Simon H.), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:13 (seven years ago)

Is this the longest album in 77 history?

bhad bundy (Simon H.), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:13 (seven years ago)

great poll this year love so many albums on this list. really pleased to see sons of kemet so high up.

Mordy, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:13 (seven years ago)

nice lil run here to kick off the top 10

Karl Malone, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:13 (seven years ago)

If you ever wanna do sonic torture on me just lock me up in a room and play that whole album.

Tuomas, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:13 (seven years ago)

lol, as with the singles playlist, the album playlist is now wildly disproportionately autechre based

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:13 (seven years ago)

Eight hours of Autechre, Jesus Christ!

what are two things that will change your life forever

frogbs, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:14 (seven years ago)

too low

jolene club remix (BradNelson), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:14 (seven years ago)

i never did listen to all this, going into Tuomas' Torture Room (tm) now

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:14 (seven years ago)

oh also autechre ! nice. think i managed to listen to this once but over four or five listening sessions.

budo jeru, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:14 (seven years ago)

the noz pfork review is like... one of my favorite pieces of music writing from last year

jolene club remix (BradNelson), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:14 (seven years ago)

lol frogbs

budo jeru, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:15 (seven years ago)

I docked Autechre some spots on my ballot because, while brilliant and hugely ambitious (just plain huge, really) it was just too much to wrap my head around. I can only really take them one track at a time.

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:15 (seven years ago)

yeah it's very good, and they are not an easy act to write about xxp

bhad bundy (Simon H.), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:15 (seven years ago)

Big step down from elseq and way too unchangingly jammy imo

imago, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:16 (seven years ago)

Is this the longest album in 77 history?

I think Max Richter's Sleep placed a few years back, or did it?

Tuomas, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:16 (seven years ago)

Well, that is nice to see.

*there's (Noel Emits), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:16 (seven years ago)

GHOST BOX, HOUSE ARREST
STRANGE FRUIT, INFINITE JEST
BLACK DICE, KANDY KORN
PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN
THIRD POLICEMAN, PRINCE 'PARADE'
EDUCATING MARMALADE
WORLD OF ECHO, COURT AND SPARK
LELAND PALMER IN THE DARK

forgot about this much better version of "losing my edge" on the daphne and celeste record

jolene club remix (BradNelson), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:17 (seven years ago)

:D

imago, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:17 (seven years ago)

Sounds more like "We Didn't Start the Fire".

Tuomas, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:19 (seven years ago)

I hate it

ebro the letter (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:19 (seven years ago)

autechre was my number one. I think it's quite possible that I spent more time listening to autechre in 2018 than all other 2018 albums combined. This is them in top form, perfecting the aesthetic they have been going for since Exai.

silverfish, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:20 (seven years ago)

oh yeah you can def sing that to the dune of we didn't start the fire

simmy simmy ya, simmy yam simmy yay (voodoo chili), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:20 (seven years ago)

xp's I almost started a thread a while back about tracks named "Teachers" (Daft Punk, Soulwax, Mumdance) but we could totally roll it into a list of songs that namecheck a list of bands

#7: The 1975 - A brief inquiry into online relationships - 739 points – 23 votes - 3 first place votes

the 1975

Ross Horton: "A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships isn’t perfect. It isn’t the best album released this year, and it doesn’t have any of the best songs released this year on it"

✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:21 (seven years ago)

damn!

bhad bundy (Simon H.), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:22 (seven years ago)

try again next year fellas

bhad bundy (Simon H.), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:22 (seven years ago)

Hot takes in 3.. 2.. 1..

I think it's quite possible that I spent more time listening to autechre in 2018 than all other 2018 albums combined.

well the statistics are working with you on this one

budo jeru, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:22 (seven years ago)

Great to see Sun-El’s fantastic South African house record in the top 10, so fucking deserved.

And for everyone who’s been living under a rock: Simmy’s Tugela Fairy, which was produced by Sun-El and came out later in the year, is even better, my #1 where this one was #7. That should tell you something. Please make sure you give it a listen before we do the *official* poll in two weeks’ time!

breastcrawl, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:22 (seven years ago)

my hot take is this band is not good

budo jeru, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:23 (seven years ago)

woo! 1975 isn't going to win the poll! musgraves full speed ahead

Mordy, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:23 (seven years ago)

loool, thanks for cutting off the blurb there

jmm, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:23 (seven years ago)

xxp I apologise for not voting for Simmy. Didn't think she needed my support. Looks like I was wrong.

Jeff W, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:24 (seven years ago)

true relief owl city didnt win

Friedrich B. Neechy (Oor Neechy), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:24 (seven years ago)

i'm sure it does, i wasn't making the obvious comparison, also it's not a historical narrative

jolene club remix (BradNelson), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:24 (seven years ago)

(also a good idea to listen to it now and wait till that 1975 storm in a teacup blows over)

breastcrawl, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:24 (seven years ago)

eight songs in, officially obsessed with "el mal querer"

budo jeru, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:26 (seven years ago)
