I'm more interested in defending myself and everyone else who found the thread (note: NOT the actual incident) amusing, and indeed contributed to it. Dom frequently acts in a manner I wouldn't condone but it's a free Internet and as long as others aren't affected away from ILX (such as in the thread you mention, where the guy's name had to be googleproofed) I don't mind how bitter or misanthropic he is, as long as he brings a few lulz (and the occasional interesting debate). In this instance, ILX has for the most part bonded over a shared desire to laff at Mail readers, and Dom as enabler deserves credit rather than castigation (although I guess you can read it differently and castigate him if you want).

I mean, I WANT to view every ILX situation fairly, and I WANT to give everyone an equal chance, and I appreciate that this is often difficult when there are opposing factions at work. Ultimately, what tilts individual situations is whether I find them distasteful/unnecessary or funny/arresting. I have no personal grudges against anyone on this internet messageboard and although I understand that some people are going to be harder than others, I find it best to just let things play out. Sorry if this comes across as naive trippy-dippy bullshit. Maybe ILX needs its cartoon villains after all.

Mark, I think yr a very nice, intelligent (if occasionally hot-headed but aren't we all) guy, but seriously you're making more of this than you really ought. There isn't a cult of Dom on ILX, he's no guru of mine, BUT he does frequently make the place more interesting, and that's all I'm asking from a messageboard. Well, the initial reason I responded to sleeve is that I'd participated in the thread he was incriminating, and was concerned with defending it, rather than its creator. But yeah, I'll chill out and let people have at each other, can't please everyone at once I guess.
