― nxd, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 16:24 (seven years ago)
did not get this album at all which was a shame because "I'm Not Dancing" was pretty cool
― ufo, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 16:26 (seven years ago)
This was my number one vote and I love her so if any of you dare badmouth her I’ll delete all the poll’s images
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 16:26 (seven years ago)
sounds like it was produced by john shuttleworth

Sometimes it reminds me of Arthur Russell too

ok this is gorgeous
― frogbs, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 16:37 (seven years ago)
holding on is a little wispy nothing of a track, like overhearing someone singing to themselves as they walk past. love the album and think it sounds better in that context, I picked a different track
― ogmor, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 16:37 (seven years ago)
<3 the b side "mindless fullness" too
― nxd, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 16:37 (seven years ago)
another one for 2 Chainz here
― nashwan, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 16:38 (seven years ago)
couldn't wrap my mind around the tirzah record but "holding on" is p good in isolation
― jolene club remix (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 16:38 (seven years ago)
never heard of this but it's very cool, continuing to enjoy this year's bobbins placements a surprising amount
― ufo, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 16:39 (seven years ago)
Didn’t vote for Cleo but I’m on board with this one too.

― jolene club remix (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 16:57 (seven years ago)
Catching up slowly, the Die Wilde Jagd track is def interesting and reminds me of a krautrock compilation I have. I'll probably listen to it again.
I had high expectations for a song called "Donnie Darko" but, based on the first half of it, it sounded exactly like what I imagine most of the tracks I skip sound like.
― Locked in silent monologue, in silent scream (Sund4r), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 16:58 (seven years ago)
There was some slight badmouths at the Tirzah track so I deleted the upcoming images and ulysses cant find them.
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 16:58 (seven years ago)
Cleo is fucking awesome, the 2nd of my votes to place. Such simple and evocative techno, like Dozzy does best.
― Tuomas, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 16:59 (seven years ago)
Tirzah is the best! All hail! She hangs out with Micachu!
― imago, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 16:59 (seven years ago)
my take on Tirzah: the images have been amazing and I would spend money on real postcards of some of them
― rob, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 17:00 (seven years ago)
That’s the spirit imago! Images are back.
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 17:02 (seven years ago)
I’m not sure what happened to ulysses though...
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 17:05 (seven years ago)
I've liked Dozzy projects before, but picking this as one of the best tracks of the year is entirely mystifying to me. At least the autechre had trolling value. Next year I'm nominating my cat's purrs and my white noise machine
― rob, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 17:07 (seven years ago)
a man has to eat! more delicious bobbins for you now.

have a feeling this won't be the only track to place from this ep
extremely lovely as always

29: Marie Davidson – “Work It” – 247 points – 8 votes – 1 first place votevideo
Marie Davidson (dark synth, she's been in a few bands but has had a few solo releases)
http://www.thesinglesjukebox.com/?p=26555
The “Work Bitch”/”Let’s Have a Kiki” mashup I never knew I needed, with deadpan delivery that is both threatening and genuinely motivational. I feel like a rich lesbian personal trainer has looked into my soul and told me I am not working hard enough and boy is it ever effective. – Alex Clifton
Over a spiky groove that builds like an assembly line, Marie Davidson guides you through the new mentality. It’s no longer enough to work to the bone; you have to love it, too. It doesn’t take long before she flips that aspiration into a taunt (“Well then you’re not a winner yet!”) and the colloquial notion of “work” into a menacing order. By the end, she’s just parroting the same platitudes (“You’ve got to work for yourself!”), the empty promises we’re told by others and ourselves to get by, knowing that in this system one cannot be a winner without crushing someone underneath. Perhaps that’s too bleak a reading. Perhaps we’re just in a funk, and all we need is to keep organizing and pushing and upending every system that got us here. But if it turns out we are marching toward the inevitable end, I’ll want it to sound like this. – Will Adams
