eh go for it. i'm too busy for the foreseeable future to even lurk on ilx most days, let alone run a poll.

I'm open and can definitely run a poll. I volunteered to run a cover versions poll back in 2013. Even though 4 years is not a long wait in ILM poll time, it would be a dynamite poll. Anything else on the list that people care to poll?

Jimi has to wait a bit. Now that the emo poll is finished I can finally start the sequel to my 70s soul albums poll: the tracks poll. Probably somewhere next week.

xp The cover versions poll sounds cool too. We can plan both polls so that the rollouts don't overlap.

fwiw I normally like to err on the side of giving ppl as much time as possible HOWEVER what i noticed from the emo poll is that doing it fairly quick (1 week noms, 2 weeks voting/campaigning, 1 week rollout) is that it kept everyone's interest and attention seemingly nonstop for the month. i feel like extending any part of it might've risked peeling ppl off or ppl losing interest and then needing to regain it again. which is to say i've changed my mind and think if possible it should be as taut a timeline as possible (w/out being unreasonably quick).

For a single artist, you don't even need a nominations period. Just "here is a link to his songography, now vote dummies!"

i will be opening up Talking Heads on Monday.

tbf up until recently it was still very clearly a line, and plenty of people are in it waiting their turn, just there's been some amount of ppl not being ready when their turn comes around and so we've done a bit of jumping down to ppl slightly lower in the list to respect that? i think?

good point and i agree. we should keep the order as best that we can. there are gaps that i wish did not happen...

They can be great, especially with acts that have huge discographies that you're not 100% familiar with. For me, the Kinks and Parliament-Funkadelic polls were momentous.
