What happened to that post where you looked up "ebert" on google images and the first thing that popped up was a picture of a stripper with bert and ernie dolls seemingly going down on her?

three weeks pass...

there's an ILM thread called something like "Songs that sound like ____"

all the songs are linked by a certain kind of sound / feel, and recently somebody posted herbie hancock's tune "textures" as a youtube video itt

i can't remember what any of the other music was !

any idea ?

budo jeru, Saturday, 22 August 2020 11:43 (three months ago) link

doesn’t come up in Search, right?

this why it is a very good idea to provide track info when posting a YouTube or other music link

(anyway. Reading Rebus this morning and he was in greyfriars cemetery where they had mortsafes. Turned on TV to watch Bob Mortimer fishing and the 3 minutes of the previous programme was Alice Roberts digging in Birmingham and finding a mortsafe there too. I had not heard of them until this morning and then twice in just over an hour)

Within the last month or two someone posted about some sort of mesh system or wifi booster that was working really well for them and was several hundred dollars cheaper than Eero and the other big name ones. Don't see it in the stupid computer questions or working from home threads and not having success with Google searches. Anyone know where this one is? Thanks!

early rejecter, Friday, 2 October 2020 12:57 (one month ago) link

ilx search for 'eero' would have found it though i took a more roundabout route:

Can someone recommend me a Router?

Thanks! Didn't really occur to me to try ILX search as I almost always get better results through Google, but a good reminder not to write it off entirely.

Somewhere on ILX, probably I Love Books, someone (maybe Mordy?) mentioned comparing the ancient world to a current political situation, and then someone else recommended a book that pointed out the problems with doing that. Does anyone remember what the book was?

is there a good Ask a Lawyer (for non-binding advice!) thread? I am trying to advocate for someone who has been fucked, and it would be great to just ask a few basic questions

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 24 November 2020 17:16 (four days ago) link

The lawyers would mostly tell you that you need to hire a lawyer probably

is right unfortunately (silby), Tuesday, 24 November 2020 17:26 (four days ago) link

haha, yep, i know. i'm not looking to hire a lawyer, though, and we don't have the money to do so.

it's more of a "who can i write to about this? who will respond? will it help to have 10 people/advocates on a zoom call for the hearing? how can we let the judge know that this is not a run-of-the-mill case for the day, but one that will result in me yelling at people they know for fucking up if they delay this one more time? ok, only the first half of that last one

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 24 November 2020 17:31 (four days ago) link

I think Sleeve is trying to link to I Love Lawyers there. When I tried posting something on there many years ago, I was told that it was not an active board and was only used for a very specific circumstance.

peace, man, Tuesday, 24 November 2020 17:44 (four days ago) link

yeah...i'm not sure i've ever seen a post on that board! i'd be just as happy with I Love Advocates or I Love Knowing What I'm Supposed to Do as well
