I'm all for the whole 'don't stoke the fire' thingy, but it's a bit hard when posters just make up shit in their own heads and can't read stuff in context before blowing a fuse. The obvious answer remains permabanning the bully.

The Social Liberal party in Denmark are absolutely melts, and having them in their own party means being able to humiliate them thoroughly every now and then. There was no irony at all. The Green and the Social Democrats are quite melty as well, though they do have their moments every now and then.

Personally I have never used the expression 'melt' in my life, either here or irl. Anyway I assumed Fred was doing his usual, "You lot are all tankies" routine, so maybe I got that wrong. Every country in Scandinavia has a Socialist and a Social Democratic party, btw. And a Green one, and probably a Socially Liberal one. It's great. You can really pinpoint the melts.

so, is it cool when someone who isn't from and doesn't live in a region whose politics are at issue posts on a thread if you agree with their politics, but it's only annoying if they post on the thread when you disagree with their politics?

like, I see a bunch of non-Californians opining on our state politics thread, and I just wanna know if I have the right to be annoyed at them, esp. when they get all sanctimonious

I don't really know what Fred's politics are tbh - and he plainly doesn't know mine - but given that he routinely characterizes posters on the UK politics thread as xenophobic tankies you can see why he's not particularly welcome there.
