It was the Fred perspective that was the problem, not the Scandinavian one.

It's tone deaf to go on about the way wonders of a party system which cannot even begin to be implemented here, with an added assumption this would solve problems.

This is wrong. What most 'socialists' are trying to achieve in practice is social democracy - eg: on the Scandinavian model that PT used to champion. I am on the far left by most UK standards but would call myself a social democrat. The real problem is that the Labour right, Blairites, et al, are not really keen on social democracy either. So she means 'There should be a social democratic party as well as a socially liberal neo-Thatcherite one'.

I read Fred's post as a casual 'btw this is what it's like in Denmark, comparing political systems is interesting and informative' (which is true). It wasn't a swipe – I don't even think he used the word 'melt' ironically in the follow-up, or just barely.

I'm all for the whole 'don't stoke the fire' thingy, but it's a bit hard when posters just make up shit in their own heads and can't read stuff in context before blowing a fuse. The obvious answer remains permabanning the bully.

The Social Liberal party in Denmark are absolutely melts, and having them in their own party means being able to humiliate them thoroughly every now and then. There was no irony at all. The Green and the Social Democrats are quite melty as well, though they do have their moments every now and then.
