I dig the idea of Ned's character, but in reality he's pretty damn boring. You don't have to agree with a character's motivations to find them completely engaging.

eh i dont really blame them, sean bean is the biggest or second-biggest name in the cast by a very long shot, plus he was the focus of the marketing campaign--if i was watching the show w/out having read the books id be telling myself "no way theyre going to kill off sean bean, itd be like killing off tony soprano/steve buscemi in that other show/jimmy mcnulty"

I'm sure they'll get over it after next week's tho

Yeah seems like casting Bean as Eddard was super canny---get viewers in the door with a big name actor who's not likely to commit to years of television and hook them on the rest

btw is tyrions accent getting worse as the show progresses or is it just me

I sorta don't care about the battles---I'm in it for the ~machinations~

I lolled pretty hardcore when Tyrion got trampled by his own men

iirc martin only really depicts two battles in the books

Doesn't Tyrion actually fight for a bit before getting knocked out in the book though? I'd just like it if the scope of these things was conveyed a little more. I understand that's difficult to do.

yeah tbf this is one of the battles that he DOES depict, i was just thinking that martin doesnt dwell overlong on big army battles. he likes fights though.

Having the POV character miss the battle was much cleverer storytelling than staging a cheapo battle would've been IMO.

I felt they could have shown some kind of skirmish in the woods before Jamie's capture. That seemed to be done a little abruptly.

i was waiting for those two when they were chilling with the whore to start playing truth or dare.
that scene was pretty dull until they got to the story about Tyrion being married.

was supposed to be Stark's own sword, "Ice", which they just left out of the show for whatever reason.

They also left out one particular detail from Tyrion's story, but now I'm wondering if that was revealed at another point in the books.
