Ff- is a pretty standard way to begin a Welsh name.

It makes more of a regular f sound since a single f sounds more like a v.

So ff is a letter in its own right, after f and before g and ng, which follows g.

No worries. I believe Welsh was one of the languages Tolkien was inspired by when he came up with Elvish.
