ah wow, that must have been amazing to hear him talk shit, i'd imagine he could regale you for days

he was absolutely hilarious and hugely entertaining, and would have gone on for far far longer cause he clearly liked the appreciative audience he had in me, but of course he and I had to work, but one would think someone of his stature would be far far more discrete in front of some rando scribe like me…

That doesn't sound much like Ralf Hutter to me.

Rutger Hauer was kind of a gossip tbh

Ron Howard is well known for his tales

Ned Raggett, Friday, 10 December 2021 21:11 (two years ago) link

Rock Hudson probably did have some tales to tell.

Rolf Harris... never mind.

hopefully this review helped someone (Neanderthal), Friday, 10 December 2021 22:11 (two years ago) link

Found this on a forum:

Steve Harris was most likely goaded into it, but he made a comment in the 80s about "darkies" and how he felt the races should be separate. Also how his biggest nightmare would be if his son was dating a black guy. Apparently his crew and band mates tease him about his attitudes now, according to one of my friends who is an Iron Maiden fanatic. I read the interview he showed me years ago, and I wasn't a fan at the time so I didn't care. I love them now, despite Harris' "Archie Bunker" attitudes. Its not like he is a neo-nazi, just kind of ignorant.

Lots of people like this around the remnants of the NWOBHM scene, from anecdotal evidence.

Didn't his nickname used to be R... Halfwit?

stirmonster, Friday, 10 December 2021 22:37 (two years ago) link

I didn't think he was a Nazi but being "goaded" into saying darkies and coming out against race mixing I mean....

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 10 December 2021 22:38 (two years ago) link

zero surprise that steve harris may have these views.

I walk past this farm fairly often. It's a 'pick British' farm, natch.

I think the guys from At The Drive-In and the Mara Volta are covidiots, their other band is called… Antemasque (anti-mask).

This Is Not An ILX Username (LaMonte), Tuesday, 21 December 2021 20:41 (two years ago) link

Yeah, but "ante" means "before". And the band predates the pandemic. So in the spirit of holiday generosity I'm gonna assume you're joking.

but also fuck you (unperson), Tuesday, 21 December 2021 20:47 (two years ago) link

pretty safe bet it's a joke, lol

katebishopfan616 (morrisp), Tuesday, 21 December 2021 20:51 (two years ago) link

three weeks pass...

Anton Corbijn posted a statement on his Instagram account in support of Djokovic and individual rights over vaccine mandates and everything fell into a depressingly predictable fight before Corbijn turned off comments with a "I never said I was anti-vax, some of my best friends were covid victims."

Elvis Telecom, Thursday, 13 January 2022 20:48 (two years ago) link

What a load of shit, ignoring that Djokovic found out he was infected, then went out in public and did press meetings and shit without ever wearing a mask or even bothering to tell anyone.

Yeah, I'm a huge Corbijn fan, and when that post came up in my feed yesterday I had to do a double-take.

I posted it in the Rolling COVID-19 Notably Infected and/or Fallen Thread (I thought posting it on this thread might be a bit on the cruel side *gulp*)

Someone left a space telescope out in the rain (Tom D.), Wednesday, 19 January 2022 19:33 (two years ago) link

It's pretty fucking sad. I'm not posting it here for laughs btw, more out of exasperation that we're still seeing this shit happen on a regular basis after almost two years of covid

o shit the sheriff (NickB), Wednesday, 19 January 2022 19:39 (two years ago) link

Yeah, it is really sad. This is what I posted in the other thread:

Reading that just made me incredibly sad for her son. Imagine how painful that would be to watch the entire process play out in front of your eyes with the predictable tragic result.

Alas, it would seem Meat Loaf likely belongs in here:

https://www.tmz.com/2022/01/21/meat-loaf-dead-dies-singer/

The singer's manager, Michael Greene, confirmed Meat Loaf died Thursday night. Sources with knowledge tell TMZ ... he was supposed to attend a business dinner earlier this week for a show he's working on -- "I'd Do Anything for Love" -- but the dinner was canceled because he became seriously ill with COVID. Sources tell us that his condition quickly became critical.

Our sources say Meat Loaf has been outspoken about COVID, railing with folks in Australia recently about vaccine mandates. We do not know if he was vaccinated.

It sounds like Danny Rampling will be turning up to vaccine centre soon with an expired crime number and a load legalese word salad with the way he’s getting worked up about his sovereignty pic.twitter.com/EELJDe4DpC

Guitarist ‘Big Merv' Shields of notorious #Nazi band #Screwdriver, instrumental in the notorious Blood and Honour neo-Nazi music network, had died from #Covid.

He was unvaccinated and called Covid a ‘Leftie Jewish Plot.’ pic.twitter.com/kSFLWfv04Q

i wonder how Agnostic Front feel

I think I remember reading that Vinnie Stigma is anti-vax. Roger Miret's been in and out of the hospital a lot in recent years with multiple cancer surgeries, so I'm pretty sure he's been shot up just due to the immunity risks of cancer treatment.
