Except for the fact that Chuck said MJ might have been the greatest songwriter of the last 25 years. I don't know how you could reasonably make that claim -- putting Thriller aside, you'd have to include 1) the disco songs from Off the Wall (good, not the the greatest "songs"), 2) Bad, which I always found to be his first garish record, 3) anything after.
That's not to say he didn't write song really great songs -- but this is the kind of hyperbole everyone seems to be getting sucked up into.

the thing is ... theyre not all that ubiquitous! how often do u hear 'get on the floor'?? buy that album lex.
He's got maybe 10 great songs he can claim sole credit for and even that's being generous to include the stuff from over 25 years ago (Billie Jean of course, Beat It, Don't Stop Til You Get Enough, etc.)
Those songs are great, but the King of Pop hyperbole is such blatant PR nonsense it's always irritated me how eagerly that stuff got parroted and uncritically accepted as the gospel truth
