And I am kind of dreary.

Good cop, Babcock (Chinaski), Thursday, 7 February 2019 14:41 (five years ago) link

getting paul simonon and tony allen to play on an album full of dreary plodders is borderline criminal imo

. (Michael B), Thursday, 7 February 2019 14:42 (five years ago) link

The Clash could plod with the best of them.

Good cop, Babcock (Chinaski), Thursday, 7 February 2019 14:49 (five years ago) link

they fought the plod but the plod won

goats eat grandma (NickB), Thursday, 7 February 2019 14:55 (five years ago) link

loool

imago, Thursday, 7 February 2019 14:56 (five years ago) link

i think that autechre song i started playing during the tracks poll is still going on

― simmy simmy ya, simmy yam simmy yay (voodoo chili)

haha clean hit

sleeve, Thursday, 7 February 2019 15:09 (five years ago) link

i was the first place laurel halo voter and it's my favourite thing she's done; astonishing record.

devvvine, Thursday, 7 February 2019 15:33 (five years ago) link

i didnt expect this makaya mccraven to be so post rocky and tortoise/chicago underground duo-ish

Oor Neechy, Thursday, 7 February 2019 15:50 (five years ago) link

Someone should've told me earlier

Oor Neechy, Thursday, 7 February 2019 15:50 (five years ago) link

Yeah, got strong Horse Lords vibes on the one track I've heard so far

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Thursday, 7 February 2019 15:52 (five years ago) link

FYI on mccraven: dude tapes his live sets and then remixes them after for loops and effects.

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:01 (five years ago) link

The title track is so gorgeous

jmm, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:07 (five years ago) link

Whole album is gorgeous tbh! my fave is likely Black Lion.
it's not quite as good but "where we come from" which is ALSO from 2018 is definitely worth listening to as well.

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:10 (five years ago) link

looks like I am going to be a euro ilxor sat in an mostly empty club later tonight, following the final rollout of these albums by the glow of my phone, nursing a vodka tonic pale ale, while sad German techno some underground rap nonsense throbs in the background

ogmor, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:10 (five years ago) link

we've just had a new ikea open today, could follow it from there

imago, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:12 (five years ago) link

i feel like a little kid waiting impatiently at the gates of the candy factory here. when do we see inside the top 20?

goats eat grandma (NickB), Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:12 (five years ago) link

to be honest, the early part of these rollouts is more interesting, when more surprises pop up. The final 10 or 20 feel a lot more inevitable, what with all the guessing that's already happened.

enochroot, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:16 (five years ago) link

Is it so inevitable?

imago, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:16 (five years ago) link

How upset will people be when Koenji Hyakkei take #2

ultros ultros-ghali, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:19 (five years ago) link

I don't think all those people who guessed the top 15 placements are too far off. It's just the ordering that's still up in the air. The new discoveries for me have probably already happened (Lala Belu, Eiko Ishibashi)

enochroot, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:22 (five years ago) link

pretty upset, #2 is too low

xp

frogbs, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:22 (five years ago) link

how about all the pissed off 30+ ilm synthpop fans when robyn misses the top 10?

Oor Neechy, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:22 (five years ago) link

What are you thinking will place, enochroot?

imago, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:23 (five years ago) link

― Oor Neechy, Thursday, February 7, 2019 11:22 AM

I could be wrong, but I think you're overestimating how strongly people feel about that record. I'd be really surprised if it makes the top 10, but also maybe top 15?

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:27 (five years ago) link

i would rather see robyn place top ten in your poll tbh friedrich neechy

goats eat grandma (NickB), Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:28 (five years ago) link

if Robyn really had 30+ voters she'd be like top 3 but i don't think she'll get that many

ufo, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:29 (five years ago) link

Cheers for that nick!

Friedrich B. Neechy (Oor Neechy), Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:30 (five years ago) link

lol I meant 30+ in age

Friedrich B. Neechy (Oor Neechy), Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:30 (five years ago) link

it's not quite as good but "where we come from" which is ALSO from 2018 is definitely worth listening to as well.

Listening now. The looping and editing seems more foregrounded on this one, not quite as seamless.

jmm, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:30 (five years ago) link

oh lol xp

ufo, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:30 (five years ago) link

Sorry I was busy, countdown will resume in about 10 minutes.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:31 (five years ago) link

I think Janelle Monae will win actually . Just a hunch.

Friedrich B. Neechy (Oor Neechy), Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:32 (five years ago) link

she won't

jolene club remix (BradNelson), Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:32 (five years ago) link

i'm a gonna win

ciderpress, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:33 (five years ago) link

i have a feeling we're gonna party like it's 1975

simmy simmy ya, simmy yam simmy yay (voodoo chili), Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:34 (five years ago) link

being on the west coast, I appreciate this delay

octobeard, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:34 (five years ago) link

they should call it the 1976 when you're there

ciderpress, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:35 (five years ago) link

I tell you one thing, I've got no idea what will win metal poll.

Friedrich B. Neechy (Oor Neechy), Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:36 (five years ago) link

I think we only have 9 ballots but I haven't seen them

Friedrich B. Neechy (Oor Neechy), Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:36 (five years ago) link

1975 = 5 x 5 x 79, therefore numerologically they have either placed 5th or 79th

imago, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:38 (five years ago) link

every vote for Autechre should be assigned 4x the points, if this poll was truly fair

frogbs, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:39 (five years ago) link

AHAHAHA *cackle intensifies*

imago, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:46 (five years ago) link

And here's me thinking there'd be no surprises

bhad bundy (Simon H.), Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:46 (five years ago) link

this is the fake joke, right?

Friedrich B. Neechy (Oor Neechy), Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:47 (five years ago) link

ILM pulls through :)

My number 3. Max Tundra, Daphne & Celeste forever

imago, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:47 (five years ago) link

a pleasing listen but i didnt go back to too often

nxd, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:48 (five years ago) link

I'll add that few people get how to make the sort of melodic, breakneck pop I love better than Tundra, he's sort of a genius and this is sort of his masterpiece

imago, Thursday, 7 February 2019 16:49 (five years ago) link

I knew it! Good album.
