OK, my return trip wasn't that bad, compared to DJP. We eventually made it out the same day as our original flight. Although, being told that we were are lying about the hour-and-a-half long security line and that we couldn't possibly be calling from within the terminal because the system does not show us as checked in is pretty shitty. "That's impossible. It's a light travel day. You're a no-show, but we'll make an exception and book you a new flight for $100."

The reason we were calling was because the overwhelmed (and not very competent) Delta rep behind the counter was taking too much time processing all the other people who missed our flight. We hung up on the shitty customer service rep and his shitty manager and eventually found a live, competent rep to get us out of there at no additional cost.

PS Delta, eat a bag of dicks

My takeaway is that flying sucks
