Missed the top 20 as a result of spending all weekend engaging in the very fucking metal activity of canoeing in Herefordshire. It's been an interesting and unpredictable ride all round, lots and lots of new shit to check out. Many thanks to the organisers, Satan salutes you!

I'm a bit sad there wasn't more Death on the list. Individual Thought Patterns and Symbolic are both immense.

The DM brigade isn't that large on ILM, and the genres 2 biggest fans on the metal threads didn't vote. But DM in general i feel did really well and did way better than expected. As did BM,Doom (the non hip crossover kind), Thrash, Grind etc.

I had worried that the usual canon bands would completely dominate along with ILM canon bands like the stooges and 90s alternative metal. But it was a great mix all-round.

So Agollach and Cobalt are my favourite discoveries from this list so far. Still haven't tried absolutely everything.

Monotheist is definitely getting overrated on here.

I'm sure many would say that about other albums in the list.

I dunno, there are plenty of albums in the top 20 that don't do much for me--but I recognize their canonical stature.

Monotheist is AT BEST the 3rd or 4th greatest Celtic Frost album. I think Monotheist was getting votes from folks who got on board late and never sought out the back catalog.

Maybe, but they still clearly like it enough to vote it high. In the tracks poll I noticed some people hating the early celtic frost tracks more than most things in the poll due to the vox/backing vox.

I, personally, like Monotheist as much as the others. I have a different favourite between them every week. They're just a class act and I thought it was good they did so well after the slagging they took on the tracks poll.

Yeah, I'm still baffled that Into The Crypt Of Rays never made it.
