I disagree with your selection. The song you consider to be boring is in actuality quite exciting. Conversely, whenever I think of boring songs, your favorite instantly springs to mind.

Eviscerate away ILX! I just think it does nothing and goes nowhere, therefore is pretty boring. The melody in the chorus especially is very basic, repetitive and uninteresting.

I was actually thinking of a specific song by them, but it's so boring I can't even remember the title. You all probably know which one I'm talking about.

erm, the Goo Goo Dolls weren't some alternative-lite act until Dizzy Up the Girl, they were actually a very catchy power pop act for many years...especially on Hold Me Up, Jed, and A Boy Named Goo.

Wow, I'm way surprised "Careless Whisper" is so widely considered classic. It just sounds unbelievably cheesy to me. I just think of, like, two people massaging each other in a candle-lit hot tub with rose petals all around and a Barbara Walters glow. In some Lifetime movie in 1995

It's not that bad imo but not worthy of indignation. The only Wham! song I really like is "Everything She Wants".

Everything She Wants is great. I think all the Wham singles were mostly great, their album tracks were extremely boring though. "Credit card Baby"?

snow patrol are really awful and dull but i love that song that martha wainwright sang on (set the fire to the third bar ft. martha wainwright, a song so good that they even apparently put her name in the song title so you'd know which, of the dozens of boring snow patrol songs, was the good one)

I'm quite interested in boredom and repetition in music so I have a couple of questions about this thread. As this is a list thread, it may be best to post your answers on this thread - Dude, this music is so BORING.

The first is this - Would any of you who have posted boring tracks mind explaining why you think they are boring?

The second is - To what extent are you distinguishing between songs that are boring and songs that you don't like and, if you are, how are you doing so?

I find a lot of stuff from the baggy era unlistenably boring; it might be the repetition, or the tempo that's unbearably slow or plodding while the music is kind of trying to force an upbeat style... I don't know. There's probably stuff I love that could be described in that way.
Also when the tune doesn't go anywhere or there's one sample that's just played over and over again with no variation.
There's a lot of music I don't like but if something's boring as well it makes it 1000 times worse.

Oh yeah, "Have a nice day" by the Stereophonics

The "humorous" songs by Barenaked Ladies are fucking excruciating. The "earnest" songs by Barenaked Ladies are fucking boring.

Toad the Wet Sprocket is hella boring.

Big Head Todd and the Monsters are goddam boring.

aw i like this song. i (unfairly) extrapolate from the song that they're a boring band but i like the song

WE KEPT FORGETTING THAT IT WAS ON. We'd listen for a few minutes, then get distracted by something, start talking, and then be all "shit, let's go back, we just missed like three songs," and we'd go back, and the same thing would happen.

I quite often put something on and then realise that I haven't paid any attention at all for 3 tracks. Quite often it's a compilation, and I've missed tracks by bands I wanted to hear, and I'll rewind but be completely unable to take any of it in after 20 seconds again.

But on one occasion I didn't even realise it had been there without me listening. I actually went up to the CD player to put something else on and was surprised it was already playing. "Oh... this aural wallpaper thing is music I deliberately put on, I remember now." Can't even remember what that was, which is how unmemorable it was, or I'd vote for it here.

Tracy Chapman's Fast Car, which just goes on and on and on in a whiny, whiny way

"Wonderful Tonight" is the most boring song ever, proven by science. A trite chord progression, played at a turgid tempo for what seems like forever, with a riff that barely qualifies, as if Clapton were just checking to see if he was in tune after bending a string. Even he can't be arsed to care about the melody, and the bass line came out of a white box with black lettering reading "BASS LINE (1)."
