xpost - Yeah good point. I guess I just not only prefer Paul to Bruce, but I also strongly prefer Clive to Nicko. They could actually swing on Killers. And with Beast, they lost the groove forever after.

We really should repoll this. I loved Number of the Beast more than anything back in the day, though Powerslave was my intro to Maiden so it holds a place in my heart.

paul's fine and all but I can't even fathom placing him above bruce. in my eyes that's like picking the generic rocker dude on half of the first steely dan album over fagen.

You all are crazy, to me the best Iron Maiden records are with Dickinson. Even as a band, they really started to stretch their sound further starting with Number of the Beast. The first one is OK and Killers is pretty good, but I would rate them below the first four with Dickinson. I also think that Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind are also pretty much neck and neck their best two albums.

All you have to do is listen Beast Over Hammersmith...D'Ianno's a nice change of pace, but he can't top Bruce in full wail. There's no way.

Bruce also does a great job on the Dianno songs. Unfortunately have never had the chance to hear Dianno sing any of the Bruce songs, but I doubt it would be so good.

has anybody else noticed how woeful dickinson's vocals are on fear of the dark? that's perhaps not a very insightful question - it'd be impossible not to notice. he'd really reached the end of his tether by that point, and it was nice to see him gradually reclaim his fire on solo records and eventually return to the maiden fold in flying form.

No question, Dickinson looked and sounded bored and apathetic around then, you can see it on the Donington footabe and the woeful Raising Hell. His snarly vocals certainly didn't help Fear of the Dark any, but it does sort of work on "Be Quick or Be Dead".

Now that that's out of the way, let's get to the best W.A.S.P. studio album.

Google search also revealed Angel Witch and Bad Company to have eponymous songs on eponymous albums.

Others are a stretch, including "Court of the Crimson King" et al.

If I didn't vote Powerslave, I would have.

"Lucifer's Friend", "Powertrip", "Saint Vitus" and "Belfegore" also qualify as doubly-eponymous. Interesting how it's only hard-rockers who do this.

Another band who have done this is hard-rockers Living In A Box.

I think Piece of Mind is the 3rd best Maiden record. After the Dianno albums.

Powerslave got a good showing in this one. was my first Maiden album, and hell, I think it still gets unfairly overlooked sometimes (although ok, ok, it does have two of their biggest concert staples ever, so it isn't THAT overlooked).

It's not so much that POM got only three votes, but that it tied with the not-very-good SIT, well, I can't get behind that. Even SSOASS > SIT

I love Seventh Son. I'd even consider voting for it as my fav depending on the day of the week.

SiT, though, is second tier Maiden.

Yeah, Seventh Son holds up, despite the synths. Great songs, not a dud on that album, really.

Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son are both fantastic. Though the band pretty much ends right then and there for me.

To answer thread revive q in a not very metal way, "Living in a Box" by Living in a Box from the album Living in a Box.

I would've voted Piece of Mind although I'm a casual fan i.e. I've not heard anything past Somewhere in Time.
