I really spend a lot of time with The Final Frontier, so I'm tempted to vote that one, though I think I may end up regretting it.

I'm torn between Brave New World and The Final Frontier.

I might be the sole A Matter of Life and Death vote. I like that album a lot. (Maybe because I skipped the tour where they played it in its entirety—the only Maiden tour since 2003 that I've missed.)

I like that one too.

Easy for me. Final Frontier is the first post-reunioun album I loved. Brave New World was good but overrated; songs like "Nomad" and "Dream of Mirrors" are bloated slogs. Fuck the Blayze era, haven't heard all of the final two chapters of Dicky 1.0

This one is gonna be between Brave New World and Matter of Life and Death. Dance of Death might have the highest highs (title track, Paschendale, Montsegur), but also has the lowest lows. I do love the Celtic/Wishbone Ash sound of that album a lot though. Final Fronier bores me, though I hear how well composed it is (and Talisman is ace!)

I'm going with Brave New World, largely on the strength of "The Wicker Man" and "Out of the Silent Planet."

Obviously Virtual XI is the answer.

I think I'll go ahead and take the lone 'Matter of Life And Death' vote ... Tim Bradstreet tells good stories about cover art work. And I attended a show where they did it back to front and fans were pissed - I was the lone weirdo that loved it.

Obviously Virtual XI is the answer.

Como Estais Amigos!

I would have preferred a Speak 'n Spell to Blaze Bayley's voice.

A Matter Of Life And Death easily. Although I do like Final Frontier a lot as well.

Aw man where was I :(

I would have voted Brave New World, myself. I think I know that one best and can listen to it without wincing. Dance of Death has a couple of good ones (Paschendale is great, imo). To be honest I haven't listened to the last two hardly at all though, so my vote would be kinda off balance.

nine years pass...

I voted Final Frontier and now I have no idea how any of it goes anymore.

I still hate Dance of Death and Matter of Life and Death. Brave New World still a slog, but I enjoy "Wicker Man" live and "Ghost of the Navigator".

Blaze Bayley sounds better in his solo act than he did in Maiden, but man, if you ever listen to his untreated vocals, they have to use a lot of effect to make the guy sound decent. he's a terrible vocalist and he often warbles off key

blaze ~sucks~ and i hope to never see the day where he is reconsidered etc

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 27 October 2022 01:00 (one year ago) link

they can reconsider him for a guy who runs around the stage in a zebra costume

i really can't imagine going to a Maiden show in that era. often times when bands are in past prime eras, you go to shows and are like "well at least I can enjoy the older stuff", but the live Blaze recordings I've heard are so, so bad, like he cant hit any of the notes.

I guess that's why they were on CMC International!

my friend was playing some songs from a matter of life and death on the way to our maiden show and i was surprised at how pop-punk they were

concept for that record is absolutely hilarious to me as well

That's actually a pretty Apt description!
