The video for Jocko Homo is one my formative memories - I remember being entirely entranced by it at the age of 6. But I voted Mongoloid.

I'm being a smartass here, but in a fun way (NotEnough), Thursday, 1 July 2010 07:59 (thirteen years ago) link

Mongoloid

Implied Nazarene (latebloomer), Thursday, 1 July 2010 10:03 (thirteen years ago) link

Think I'm going with Gut Feeling, but I hate not to recognise the sense of "whoa, what weird and beautiful universe was this beamed in from" on first hearing Mongoloid, which still lingers even however many hundreds of listens later

Going with my Gut on this one.

Urge, Mongoloid or Gut Feeling.

Uncontrollable Urge it is

Can anybody please help me out here?
Why oh why does this album always remind me of the Dickies?

Maybe it was my anal alphabetical filing? Maybe I first heard them both around the same time?
The one I want to be true involves the similarities in the backing vocals.

It's Ok, I'm going now

My enjoyment was only peripheral until I saw them live a couple of years ago, but something to do with the sense of auspice means that I also get the Dickies when I hear this album.

I haven't listened to any of this in ages. It used to be "Uncontrollable Urge" or "Gut Feeling," but, in honour of the two hall monitors in Rock 'N' Roll High School, I'm going to vote for "Come Back Jonee." (This did inspire me to play "The Day My Baby Gave Me a Surprize" from the follow-up, which I like just as much.)

this is really tough. im going to go with 'praying hands'. christian evangelicalism as an american bandstand dance craze.

Was tripping the first time i heard "Jocko Homo" (OG self-released single) and mind was blown in numerous ways, so I'm going with that, but this is an amazingly solid, creative and FUN! record first cut to last.

Gut Feeling. That is a killer song.

Gut Feeling. I like the second side better than the first.

Oh my lord -- toughie. Going to go with "Jocko Homo," but with "Praying Hands" right behind it.

And, again --- there really isn't a bad song on this album.

Alex in NYC, Thursday, 1 July 2010 15:18 (thirteen years ago) link

Come Back Jonee by a hair over everything else. This album is perfect.

(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction Votes

ilxor has truly been got at and become an ILXor (ilxor), Tuesday, 6 July 2010 02:50 (thirteen years ago) link

Hooray for my two joint favourites being joint top of this poll. Weird, though, I always thought "Gut Feeling" was an unusual favourite, as it doesn't seem to get talked about much

(or at least, before getting this album, I could probably have named about half the tracks on it, and that wasn't one of them)

atoms breaking heart (a passing spacecadet), Tuesday, 6 July 2010 11:27 (thirteen years ago) link

Devo's "Satisfaction" winning the Can't Get No Satisfaction versions death match poll but getting no votes here only means one thing: Devo > Stones

kind of trill and very self-righteous (some dude), Tuesday, 6 July 2010 13:39 (thirteen years ago) link

i almost voted for it!

endless dougie (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 6 July 2010 13:43 (thirteen years ago) link

Hahaha, only on ILM could Gut Feeling best Satisfaction 13-0.

I turn it up when I hear the banjo (Dan Peterson), Tuesday, 6 July 2010 14:09 (thirteen years ago) link

This video alone justifies my "Gut Feeling" vote. So awesome!
