Did I mention that I feel very UN-Patriotic these days?

But never mind, feed the poor etc.

After all, if you mess with me I might have to sic my double LP of Peter Gabriel "Plays Live" on you and we wouldn't want that.

My mother sent us home with loads of leftovers, but we don't have any bread in the house to make turkey and dressing sandwiches... :-(

got home from work and just put some green beans in the oven.
my roommate has prepared a fantastic feast of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and, yes, sweet potatoes w/ marshmallows on top.
thanksgiving at 1 am with roommate >>>> crazy insane family thanksgiving!

I made a vegetarian b'steeya today. It went over REALLY well. I'd never made it before, or indeed anything with phyllo dough...

mouth... watering...

the jews (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 25 November 2005 07:58 (eighteen years ago) link

my big thanksgiving tour-de-force last year was a risotto with duck meat and porcini mushrooms. one of the most expensive dishes i've ever prepared, but the crowd went wild so it was totally worth it.

i was so nauseous all day yesterday, i didn't eat a thing, but i just made up for it. now i think tomorrow will be another day for fasting...

tres letraj (tehresa), Friday, 25 November 2005 08:05 (eighteen years ago) link

It's all just as good the next day, piled up between two pieces of bread. I have eaten the proof!

I do feel guilty for getting any perverse amusement out of it (Rock Hardy), Friday, 25 November 2005 18:48 (eighteen years ago) link

Then if you've eaten it we can't verify it ourselves! Ya punk!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 25 November 2005 18:55 (eighteen years ago) link

Verify this, Raggett! ::filthy gesture::

mmm that sounds good. It might get really soggy though--maybe stick more bread on top, or even lasagne sheets, and turn the whole thing upside down partway through?

nope, it was awesome. the potatoes and chickpeas absorbed all the liquid but didn't get mushy at all. i hate to brag but damn i'm good, and if thanksgiving was a gun i'd be clint eastwood

and then up at 6 a.m. to get late registration at circuit city for $7.00

T.O. Sourpuss, Friday, 25 November 2005 19:23 (eighteen years ago) link

I did not have turkey yesterday, but today I cooked for myself for the first time in a long time - chicken and asparagus - and it was good!

youn, Friday, 25 November 2005 20:13 (eighteen years ago) link

We grilled duck quarters and my sister's fiance brought a STUDENT HAM. That's a HAM prepared by STUDENTS. We referred to it as the "snack ham". And now we all say "d'oh". And it still smells like duck in the garage. Maybe I should've took the grill all the way out to the DRIVEWAY. Whatever, the boy is going to bring me another beer.

chicken and asparagus

Please say it was preserved asparagus because in no part of the northern hemisphere is asparagus in season right now. Ai freighted vegtables are worse than patio heaters.

I think my refrigerator did more damage. Now I will wait until spring. Hopefully, I'll go to England in springtime and eat peas from a garden.
