i admire your dedication to truth and science, jjjusten. however please be aware:

i just had a brainwave, i opened the homecoming vegemite to check how much had been used during the testing and i almost fainted when i saw how much was missing, it was about ten loaves of bread worth.

apparently american butter knives are too large to manage the delicacy required for spreading yeast extracts. maybe use a hummingbird feather or barbie cutlery for applying?

lxy, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 06:18 (fourteen years ago) link

xp @ estela: i was shocked and amazed you never tried to foist it on me, the jar was right there! notice i kept my mouth shut on the topic.

lxy, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 06:19 (fourteen years ago) link

use an imaginary knife to spread it

jergins, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 06:19 (fourteen years ago) link

aw<3<3 harry on the refrigerator being a bad influence.

i don't know if i ever explained this to you, jj, but the jar of vegemite in the photo was larger than the one i sent you, so harry is probably bigger than you think, though still a scrap.

estela, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 06:22 (fourteen years ago) link

JJ got the smaller one?!

jergins, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 06:23 (fourteen years ago) link

if the foreign lands can not accept our paul bunyan styled butter knives to spread our flapjacks there is no hope for world peace tbh xxpost

FCK R VWLS (jjjusten), Tuesday, 13 October 2009 06:23 (fourteen years ago) link

no jergins, you both got the same size but for the photo i used my personal jar which i buy in the larger size because i eat it every single day of my life except last wednesday.

estela, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 06:25 (fourteen years ago) link

jergins, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 06:47 (fourteen years ago) link

the bovril has sealed itself into an impenetrable unopenable form

FCK R VWLS (jjjusten), Tuesday, 13 October 2009 06:48 (fourteen years ago) link

after this test was concluded, henry went outside and pooped

FCK R VWLS (jjjusten), Tuesday, 13 October 2009 06:49 (fourteen years ago) link

not saying, just saying

FCK R VWLS (jjjusten), Tuesday, 13 October 2009 06:49 (fourteen years ago) link

we didn't mention this upthread, but since neither of them post anymore i think it's okay: after our tasting remy and lingbert had a footrace to the bathroom

jergins, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 06:50 (fourteen years ago) link

<3 @ all of this.

tehresa, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 06:51 (fourteen years ago) link

in the vegemite photo henry looks wistful and intrigued but in the marmite one he looks offended and a bit strict, i think that is because you crossed the line, jj.

estela, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 06:54 (fourteen years ago) link

why would anyone want to eat anything called bovril?!

tehresa, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 06:59 (fourteen years ago) link

i am so close to calling animal cruelty hotline on you, j.

tehresa, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 07:00 (fourteen years ago) link

to be fair he also likes the taste of his own junk so i am not sure how that applies to the question at large

FCK R VWLS (jjjusten), Tuesday, 13 October 2009 07:00 (fourteen years ago) link

we see some sights here also.

estela, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 07:01 (fourteen years ago) link

note that JJ's dog only looks suspiciously at the marmite AFTER tasting the vegemite.

jabba hands, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 07:39 (fourteen years ago) link

what i note is it dawning on henry that jj didn't save the best for last.

estela, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 08:42 (fourteen years ago) link

biting the bovril pic owns so completely

a full circle lol (J0hn D.), Tuesday, 13 October 2009 08:50 (fourteen years ago) link

The most awkward thing when I first started my job here were exchanges like,
"Where's the Marmite?"
"What's Marmite?"

"Where do you have Milo?"
"What's that?"
"You're not kiwi, are you."

That and half the people in Auckland are from other parts of the world and ask me for products that I not only have never heard of but aren't available in NZ and send me on a ridiculous scavenger hunt about the store.

a╓by's (╓abies), Tuesday, 13 October 2009 13:24 (fourteen years ago) link

the real winners of this contest: milo and fake jaffas from darrel lea

and jjj's dog trying to swallow the bovril jar

"i find your antics mirthful and infectious" (King Boy Pato), Wednesday, 14 October 2009 00:00 (fourteen years ago) link

I could use some hot buttered toast with bovril right about now.

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Wednesday, 14 October 2009 00:03 (fourteen years ago) link

this thread should be renamed henry's choice.

estela, Wednesday, 14 October 2009 00:08 (fourteen years ago) link

the toast in this photo has been spread WAY TOO THICK with double-blind substances

RAPTOBER (sic), Thursday, 15 October 2009 02:51 (fourteen years ago) link

agreed.

shoulda been cut in triangles, not squares

DAN P3RRY MAD AT GRANDMA (just1n3), Thursday, 15 October 2009 02:57 (fourteen years ago) link

Triangles = how the cool mums cut it
Squares = how your nanna cuts it

"i find your antics mirthful and infectious" (King Boy Pato), Thursday, 15 October 2009 02:59 (fourteen years ago) link

i've suspected all along that the vegemite testing night was a heavyhanded blunderfest.

estela, Thursday, 15 October 2009 03:11 (fourteen years ago) link

we WARNED them, we tried, we did all we could

it was no good

DAN P3RRY MAD AT GRANDMA (just1n3), Thursday, 15 October 2009 03:22 (fourteen years ago) link

let's not overlook the central problem, that you guys sent us marmite and vegemite

jergins, Thursday, 15 October 2009 03:24 (fourteen years ago) link

xxp that stuff is impossible to spread lightly, way too thick. the bovril spread beter than the other two. maybe travelling over the IDL made them congeal? changing hemispheres caused some kind of hardening reaction?

xp NO ONE warned me about cutting into triangles, btw, therefore i take umbrage at the nanna comment.

lxy, Thursday, 15 October 2009 03:24 (fourteen years ago) link

jergins otm

lxy, Thursday, 15 October 2009 03:25 (fourteen years ago) link

maybe we should have asked the dudes at the pub to make us a vegemite pizza

"i find your antics mirthful and infectious" (King Boy Pato), Thursday, 15 October 2009 03:27 (fourteen years ago) link

ugh

jergins, Thursday, 15 October 2009 03:28 (fourteen years ago) link

lxy, Thursday, 15 October 2009 03:30 (fourteen years ago) link
