tehresa, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:02 (eighteen years ago)

ok my last sentence is a good example of why i shouldn't type while a kid is asking me questions about wah pedals while his friend plays sepultura at earcrushing volume

John Justen, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:03 (eighteen years ago)

liquor usually has to have it's own space in MN, but even just a wall seems like it works okay.

I look forward to shopping at John and Dan's Twin Cities Den of Inequity.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:03 (eighteen years ago)

Hmmmm, maybe you'll need a nurse on hand to help people recover from their hangovers or whatever happens in your burlesque show.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:04 (eighteen years ago)

Have fun at class, tehresa - I'm going off, too!

Stay warm and drive safe - everyone, but especially those in the T.C. area. Dammit, we should really be beyond this weather.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:05 (eighteen years ago)

well, that will make my guitars/bar/guns/club/firing range/dirt bike track concept easier to get past the city council probably xpost

John Justen, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:07 (eighteen years ago)

You forgot "carney midway".

HI DERE, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:15 (eighteen years ago)

CORRECT

John Justen, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:22 (eighteen years ago)

Hey Sara, I know you've gone but I'm going to webmail you re messenger stuff - let me know if your webmail doesn't actually get to you! With a gmail account you basically have a chat function built in, and I'm sure a lot of the people you'd choose to chat to are gmail users to. Anyway, I'll email :)

Mark C, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:25 (eighteen years ago)

OMG IT'S OFFICIAL I JUST BOOKED MY TICKETS FOR REALZ!

AND my mum has offered to pony up all her airpoints, not just for my connecting flight, but also my trip home to visit family AND the extra trip to auckland i have to make for the visa interview/orientation thingy. flight to US is still a fucking expensive $2511.50.

BUT YAY! OMG I'M REALLY GOING

Rubyredd, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:27 (eighteen years ago)

hey john are you still doing the spoeknd words

El Tomboto, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:33 (eighteen years ago)

jergïns, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:38 (eighteen years ago)

Rubes that's fab :)

Mark C, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:41 (eighteen years ago)

El Tomboto, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:41 (eighteen years ago)

John Justen, Thursday, 10 April 2008 23:08 (eighteen years ago)

stet, Thursday, 10 April 2008 23:17 (eighteen years ago)

i'm not sure what this salary fund of tombot's is, but sure, i'll participate.

thanks for the good wishes, itr! i'm really quite awestruck that this is really happening - buying the ticket has really cemented everything and it just feels more real than it ever has (in a good way!).

Rubyredd, Thursday, 10 April 2008 23:36 (eighteen years ago)

rr I work for the govt

El Tomboto, Thursday, 10 April 2008 23:37 (eighteen years ago)

was oblique joke re: dire need of this country to increase tax base via immigration because we are by no means pumping out babies fast enough to pay down the war debt

El Tomboto, Thursday, 10 April 2008 23:38 (eighteen years ago)

"joke" used rather loosely here

El Tomboto, Thursday, 10 April 2008 23:38 (eighteen years ago)

of course! sorry, i totally didn't get it, but i'm completely distracted today.

now that i know i'm leaving for sure, i'm really tempted to be totally ass-y to anyone who gives me shit at my job.

Rubyredd, Thursday, 10 April 2008 23:40 (eighteen years ago)

I'm so happy for you RR. I know how sucky long distance international relationships can be. You're going to be so happy!

ENBB, Friday, 11 April 2008 02:35 (eighteen years ago)

thanks, enbb :)

Rubyredd, Friday, 11 April 2008 02:39 (eighteen years ago)

YAY RR, SO HAPPY THAT YOU ARE COMING TO THE U.S.!!!!

Mark, I will check my email when I get downstairs (after I eat something... STARVING NOW!)

I got home safe and alive, btw, so yay! Roads weren't toooo bad; visibility wasn't so great. I'm staying put tomorrow if this continues!

Sara R-C, Friday, 11 April 2008 04:07 (eighteen years ago)

Congrats Rubes!

I will now watch a delicious Grey Gardens sandwich, with 30 Rock as the bread.

en i see kay, Friday, 11 April 2008 04:19 (eighteen years ago)

I fear the snow may have caused my satellite dish to get all wonky, and thus no 30 Rock was recorded. ;_;

Mark C - I didn't see an email from you, BUT my ISP is super crappy/unreliable lately. (Thus the planned slow transition to gmail).

Let me know if you need a more direct address than however ILX has this set up.

Sara R-C, Friday, 11 April 2008 04:45 (eighteen years ago)

bumping this thread for continuity reasons

Sara R-C, Friday, 11 April 2008 05:56 (eighteen years ago)

leaving one shitty job to head off to another bump

Rubyredd, Friday, 11 April 2008 06:09 (eighteen years ago)

Hope it goes okay... or at least not too badly!

Sara R-C, Friday, 11 April 2008 06:13 (eighteen years ago)

ruby, i am very happy for you<3<3<3

estela, Friday, 11 April 2008 06:18 (eighteen years ago)

and i promise never to call you 'rubes'

jergïns, Friday, 11 April 2008 06:18 (eighteen years ago)

Hey now, pluralizing the first syllable of one's name as a term of endearment is a time-honored tradition among we "Amerikaners".

en i see kay, Friday, 11 April 2008 06:49 (eighteen years ago)

sup knickers?

wilter, Friday, 11 April 2008 06:50 (eighteen years ago)

en i see kay, Friday, 11 April 2008 06:55 (eighteen years ago)

I never had a nickname. I think this has a lot to do with, y'know, Nick. Names.

You see.

en i see kay, Friday, 11 April 2008 06:56 (eighteen years ago)

My nickname at school: "Q." There are still people who call me this. I am okay with it.

Sara R-C, Friday, 11 April 2008 07:16 (eighteen years ago)

I'm finally going to bed - good night all. <3 <3 <3

jergïns, Friday, 11 April 2008 07:18 (eighteen years ago)

My ongoing nickname is "mash" which I've come to terms with I guess.

wilter, Friday, 11 April 2008 08:09 (eighteen years ago)

Hey Sara, when you're up let me know if you got my webmail - as I was typing it (it was quite long!) I was wondering if I should have saved it somewhere, but of course I didn't...

I don't have any real nicknames. Apart from Barry, and Felicity is the only person who's used that in living memory. Oh, and the pinefox calls me the kaiser.

Mark C, Friday, 11 April 2008 09:28 (eighteen years ago)

i just got home and i scared my roommate who was getting up to go to work. he thought i was a burglar coming in!

tehresa, Friday, 11 April 2008 09:58 (eighteen years ago)

Did he try and attack you? I thought there was a burglar last night and as I lay there straining my ears, I realised I'd been woken by my stomach growling.

Mark C, Friday, 11 April 2008 10:00 (eighteen years ago)

no he was just in the kitchen by our door and was a bit rattled when he heard sounds at the door before i unlocked and came in.

tehresa, Friday, 11 April 2008 10:01 (eighteen years ago)

On Sunday I am going to a drag queen's cinema club to see Grey Gardens.

suzy, Friday, 11 April 2008 11:14 (eighteen years ago)

the aussie way of nicknaming ppl seems to be to add 'zza' or 'zzy' to an abbreviation of the person's name. hence, the italian-aussies i work with call me 'juzzy' and have always done so.

'rubes' is fine by me :)

Rubyredd, Friday, 11 April 2008 12:43 (eighteen years ago)

rube
–noun Informal.
an unsophisticated person from a rural area; hick.

lol

Upt0eleven, Friday, 11 April 2008 12:54 (eighteen years ago)

oh you SO funny
