little known fact: yoshimi has bad gas

remy bean, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 07:54 (eighteen years ago)

HAHA tonight i refused to bite my tongue and play nice with a customer and GODDAMNIT IT WAS SATISFYING
him: [a million and fucking one questions about the dessert menu]...and what is the baked cheesecake?

me: [slightly annoyed] caramel and almond

him: WELL you don't sound very ENTHUSIASTIC about it but i'll guess i'll order it

me: oh really. how bout this then [i lean right into his face, put both hands on his arm, open my eyes up wide and in a kind of loud singsong voice like i'm dorothy and i've just seen fucking oz i say..} IT'S CARAMEL AND ALMOND!!

he looked stunned and his female friends sitting across from thought it was hilarious. he's obviously an asshole that noone actually likes. fucking hell it felt good to be so outrageously rude.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 13:28 (eighteen years ago)

estela, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 13:38 (eighteen years ago)

i think i saw a program about that genius sperm bank awhile ago! it was super creepy!

ps. thank you ladies <3 i think tonight i had a moment of clarity, where i realised that i'm only here for a few more months, that the restaurant is fucked up the ass without me, so there's no way i can get fired for putting an idiot in his place. i revelled in my power!

Rubyredd, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 13:54 (eighteen years ago)

HI DERE, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 14:15 (eighteen years ago)

you guys, there is an hour long show on one of the health channels called GENIUS SPERM BANK

is it a documentary on Marilyn Monroe?

John Justen, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 14:30 (eighteen years ago)

John. GROSS.

I want a half-gallon margarita, too. Dan, I'm sure John will mail them to us if we ask nicely.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 14:34 (eighteen years ago)

LOL like john will let a drink get away from him, come on

HI DERE, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 15:18 (eighteen years ago)

I imagine John chasing drinks down the street as they try to flee, little martini glasses on their little legs running in fear...

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 15:34 (eighteen years ago)

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 18:34 (eighteen years ago)

uh, yeah

HI DERE, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 18:43 (eighteen years ago)

jobs in DC dan you know who to see

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 18:45 (eighteen years ago)

i think i might fire myself for about 15 minutes this afternoon to go get a snack

John Justen, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 18:46 (eighteen years ago)

Obviously you always have a place replacing John at his work, Dan.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 18:49 (eighteen years ago)

oh yes dan would be excellent at selling people guitars.

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 18:50 (eighteen years ago)

And no one will even notice because you are identical twins and everything.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 18:50 (eighteen years ago)

i am fired from sadsackville, bcz yesterday i got first disbursement of inheritance from my gram (rip), and now i have enough $ to decide where to move. candidates:

back to la
stay in sf
seattle
boston
providence
elsewhere

i basically have to reboot my career though, since i'm not really interested in teaching any more. so a full-time writing job in one of those places ... probably rules out seattle, at the least.

remy bean, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 18:52 (eighteen years ago)

that plus boredoms has put me in the best mood i have been in for ten months, easy

remy bean, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 18:53 (eighteen years ago)

i am going to go buy a 'hip' printed hoodie, a phone that works, and new glasses tomorrow

remy bean, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 18:54 (eighteen years ago)

I would pick the cheapest city and do a lot of mailings from there, but then again I don't know how the writing game works.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 18:57 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah... full-time writing job sounds difficult. I would combine "cheapest city" with "city with best climate" myself.

Although now that I wrote that, I suppose suggesting you come to the Twin Cities is going to sound kind of stupid.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 18:58 (eighteen years ago)

full-time writing pretty much forces me to la/nyc/possibly sf ... which are the most expensive cities.

i am still planning a mn visit/drive-through in mid-late april, though

remy bean, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 18:59 (eighteen years ago)

Hmmmm... I would probably choose SF, but that is only because I have friends there. Also, the food is awesome.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 19:01 (eighteen years ago)

I would choose SF because it is awesome.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 19:10 (eighteen years ago)

full-time writing is lately becoming the kind of job you do from home anyway, the phone shlubs and nightly rewrite gang are the folks who have to show up in the office anymore, right?

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 19:10 (eighteen years ago)

if you were big into sports or videogames you could do full-time writing from just about anywhere

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 19:11 (eighteen years ago)

the food in SF is okay, not awesome.

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 19:11 (eighteen years ago)

DC is rapidly becoming an awesome food city (which it has been but mostly for a limited range of regional things, now you can get practically anything, see I DIED picture bloggityblog etc)

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 19:13 (eighteen years ago)

full-time writing job in one of those places ... probably rules out seattle

why is this?

lxy, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 19:13 (eighteen years ago)

(last month i applied for a job at double fine / full throttle)

i actually prefer the food in la to sf, but mostly because i know where it is

remy bean, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 19:14 (eighteen years ago)

lxy,

i have heard seattle does not offer that many (non-journalistic) writing opportunities?

remy bean, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 19:15 (eighteen years ago)

There's fucking fantastic food in Boston but I would be very very wary of recommending it as a place to live.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 19:15 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, after my brief stint in somerville ...

remy bean, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 19:17 (eighteen years ago)
