xpost whew! The guilt was overwhelming me there.

Victoria's Secret used to give their employees free underwear sometimes. It was usually VERY weird underwear. Not sexy. Not attractive. Not even Christmas patterned.

You have all convinced me that I should very possibly shop more and do less laundry.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 15 March 2008 22:55 (eighteen years ago)

PS Dan - I will look at the link and try to hear your band again.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 15 March 2008 22:56 (eighteen years ago)

Launderette users are all about owning dozens of undies. I just moved flats and was 6 weeks without a machine (actually more like 3 months but Xmas/America/arrived home with dirty clothes lol college). The day my machine arrived I noticed that the launderette nearby was no longer beautiful due to an electrical fire. It has taken a while to plumb it in (don't ask). I am too much of a grownup to mooch in launderettes and I resent paying the equivalent of $20 to have socks lost ('service wash' in UK), so the $10 it costs to buy five-packs of undies during the washer hiatus period is actually the wiser option.

suzy, Saturday, 15 March 2008 22:58 (eighteen years ago)

i have been known to buy new clothes rather than do laundry. and i own about 50 pairs of underwear.

Rubyredd, Saturday, 15 March 2008 22:58 (eighteen years ago)

no shame in that game.

bell_labs, Saturday, 15 March 2008 23:03 (eighteen years ago)

right now i am trying to decide between beer and nap.

bell_labs, Saturday, 15 March 2008 23:04 (eighteen years ago)

get a straw and drink beer while lying down

Rubyredd, Saturday, 15 March 2008 23:06 (eighteen years ago)

suzy and Rubyredd have now firmly convinced me that I should spend the rest of my birthday money on underwear in order to not feel deprived in comparison to the rest of ITR.

THAT BEING SAID, congrats on the new machine, suzy. New appliances are the best once you have everything working.

xpost to bell_labs: nap, then beer, then another nap

Sara R-C, Saturday, 15 March 2008 23:06 (eighteen years ago)

Beer makes me hurl and my next nap will last 6 horas. Hooking the washer up properly = about time (thanks, Ed).

Ed is coming to MSP for the RNC, he has to work there as a broadcast engineer so I am hoping in the off-hours HSTNGS&Co will look after him. Oh and State Fair, you lot need to show him it.

suzy, Saturday, 15 March 2008 23:10 (eighteen years ago)

What, you're not coming yourself, suzy? (I mean, I know the RNC is probably not a big draw, but still...)

I am sure Ed will be well taken care of.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 15 March 2008 23:13 (eighteen years ago)

Not as far as I know. With RNC happening I am sure the airfares will be *exploitative* in price due to huge spike in known expense travellers.

suzy, Saturday, 15 March 2008 23:19 (eighteen years ago)

I take your point. But it would still be nice!

I am sure Ed will be well taken care of.

^^ This kind of looks like a vague threat; that is not how I meant it!

Sara R-C, Saturday, 15 March 2008 23:21 (eighteen years ago)

He asked about Justen's number and I will passez les digits, if JJ happy. I also tried to explain to him that downtown St Paul is the size of a postage stamp and he will mostly be eating at Fuji-Ya when he is in it.

Talk of Fuji-Ya (where I had my first proper birthday dinner aged 5) drove me to purchase takeaway hand rolls on the way home from errand earlier.

suzy, Saturday, 15 March 2008 23:27 (eighteen years ago)

I have never been to Fuji-Ya. You went when you were FIVE?! ENVYING.

In St. Paul, I usually go to Sakura. Saji-ya I have been to a couple of times and have had bad service both times.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 15 March 2008 23:33 (eighteen years ago)

suzy, come home immediately to FAP at Japanese restaurant of your choice, plz.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 15 March 2008 23:33 (eighteen years ago)

My mom and tempura = old friends. She totally kvetches whenever I go to the one Uptown and bring nothing for her. I sensibly point out that flaccid tempura lives in styrofoam boxes, so no go.

I have finished my rolls. Next: G&T and cigs du jazz.

suzy, Saturday, 15 March 2008 23:59 (eighteen years ago)

Afternoon. Today I had waffles, picked up CDs by a bunch of homosexuals, saw loud protesters and bought alcohol. Tonight: art.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 16 March 2008 00:16 (eighteen years ago)

suzy, I <3 your mom.

suzy AND Ned - have fun evenings! My big plans: weight lifting, finish the g.d. paper forEVER, and watch last week's Lost.

I will also eat my weight in Special K bars, which I have just made moments ago.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 16 March 2008 00:54 (eighteen years ago)

You're planning on doing that all at once, I trust.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 16 March 2008 00:59 (eighteen years ago)

xpost For me the problem with tempura is that they don't just bring out 20 beautifully deep-fried shrimps and a bit of salad. Three shrimp plus vegetable frybabies, nein danke.

suzy, Sunday, 16 March 2008 01:04 (eighteen years ago)

i am in love with the pumpkin tempura at my local sushi place. they also have a tempura oyster sometimes as a special...best.

bell_labs, Sunday, 16 March 2008 01:09 (eighteen years ago)

Well Ned, of COURSE

suzy - I don't mind some of the vegetables, but yeah, the shrimp is better. I love noodles, so sometimes I'll just get whatever the tempura noodle thing is with maybe two tempura shrimp and a big bowl of hot noodles.

bell_labs - omg that sounds kind of awesome.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 16 March 2008 01:10 (eighteen years ago)

srsly, I just ate a ton of food, but I'm all mmmmmm tempura, sushi, noodles, oysters, and plz some mochi for dessert

Sara R-C, Sunday, 16 March 2008 01:11 (eighteen years ago)

Well Ned, of COURSE

That's good, because I wouldn't want you doing anything impractical.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 16 March 2008 01:11 (eighteen years ago)

Thanks for looking out for me, Ned. I know you worry.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 16 March 2008 01:13 (eighteen years ago)

i could eat about 40 oysters right now. i will make do with beer and caesar salad though!

bell_labs, Sunday, 16 March 2008 01:14 (eighteen years ago)

omg caesar salad MMMMMMM

Friday night I will get my favorite one b.c. we have both a babysitter AND reservations.

bell_labs, is this is an experiment to make me eat everything in the state within the next week or so?

Sara R-C, Sunday, 16 March 2008 01:15 (eighteen years ago)

My dinner -- soft shell tacos with a rice/beans mix whipped up from scratch plus cilantro and spices, a fresh salad, sparkling water with a wedge of lime. Yay simplicity!

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 16 March 2008 01:24 (eighteen years ago)

Mmmmm that does sound good. I really like cilantro (unlike, apparently, a large portion of ILX).

Ned, you should offer cooking lessons to people. I bet you'd get a lot of students!

Sara R-C, Sunday, 16 March 2008 01:34 (eighteen years ago)

i don't know how ned finds the time to cook all this good food

Rubyredd, Sunday, 16 March 2008 01:43 (eighteen years ago)

He doesn't like to talk about it, but Ned has 12 arms.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 16 March 2008 01:46 (eighteen years ago)

Just a little forethought and inspiration -- always have some basics around to work with (had some beans and rice already, the cilantro and salad stuff came with the latest basket, etc.) and go nuts. And what I did was terribly simple, only twenty minutes of prep at most.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 16 March 2008 01:46 (eighteen years ago)

I bet Ned's kitchen is also spotless. ;_;

Sara R-C, Sunday, 16 March 2008 01:54 (eighteen years ago)

Time to start this weight lifting b.s. I will bump the thread at intervals, so the rest of you should be out having fun. OR ELSE

Sara R-C, Sunday, 16 March 2008 01:54 (eighteen years ago)

less food porn more listening to my awesome hillbilly song

HI DERE, Sunday, 16 March 2008 02:35 (eighteen years ago)

Dan, you can never have enough food porn. SURELY YOU KNOW THIS

Sara R-C, Sunday, 16 March 2008 02:55 (eighteen years ago)

I am listening to your song NOW, though.

It still amazes the hell out of me that I can just do that by hitting a few buttons on my computer.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 16 March 2008 02:59 (eighteen years ago)

I didn't think it was a "hillbilly" song ;_;

Otherwise, very good!

Sara R-C, Sunday, 16 March 2008 03:02 (eighteen years ago)

but it has a banjo on it

HI DERE, Sunday, 16 March 2008 03:17 (eighteen years ago)

Until you wear a straw hat, overalls and bare feet, I'm not going to be convinced.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 16 March 2008 03:19 (eighteen years ago)

PS If you do that, I'm definitely going to make sure to be there with my camera.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 16 March 2008 03:20 (eighteen years ago)

I think I have officially ruined my image of Dan by imagining him as an extra on Hee Haw.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 16 March 2008 05:24 (eighteen years ago)

It's dark in there anyway.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 16 March 2008 05:24 (eighteen years ago)

Good night, ITR. I have to get up tomorrow and walk in a "race" in St. Paul that A. & I insanely agreed to a couple of months ago. Argh, I just want to stay home and sleeeeeep.
