Said poll thread has actually become a 'who was what on Are You Being Served/why is The Kids in the Hall sucky' thread.

ok so that is even worse

John Justen, Thursday, 13 March 2008 18:34 (eighteen years ago)

I was gonna say. Time to go CRUSHING some heads. CRUSHING!

suzy, Thursday, 13 March 2008 19:10 (eighteen years ago)

re: brits and kids in the hall...do they just not get it, or are they deeply deeply broken?

bell_labs, Thursday, 13 March 2008 20:23 (eighteen years ago)

I've got an unfair question:

Kids In The Hall vs The Whitest Kids U Know? (obv the former but the latter can be pretty awesome, right?)

HI DERE, Thursday, 13 March 2008 20:25 (eighteen years ago)

re: brits and kids in the hall...do they just not get it, or are they deeply deeply broken?

The judgment appears to be that the Brits think, "It's Canadian? So it sucks." Which, to be fair, is a sentiment you often also hear in America.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 13 March 2008 20:28 (eighteen years ago)

I am beyond tempted to bring up "Keeping Up Appearances" and "My Hero" on that thread.

HI DERE, Thursday, 13 March 2008 20:34 (eighteen years ago)

I have never heard of The Whitest Kids U Know, and my Kids in the Hall exposure has been minimal. BUT I remember the first time I saw Kids In The Hall, it was right before I left for Indiana for college. I was so annoyed that - between that and MST3K - it seemed like there were finally things I was finding funny on television and I had to LEAVE FOR A TV-LESS EXISTENCE.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 March 2008 20:35 (eighteen years ago)

you can bring up half of britisch comedy on that thread

remy bean, Thursday, 13 March 2008 20:35 (eighteen years ago)

Ain't no one stopping ya, Dan! Remy OTM!

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 13 March 2008 20:36 (eighteen years ago)

(...and then it turned out my SMC roommate was a thirtysomething fan. It is kind of amazing that I didn't just kill myself and get it over with.)

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 March 2008 20:36 (eighteen years ago)

(i am really not impressed with 'whitest kids you know' -- they seem pretty frat-boy comedy steez, though there are a few funny bits among the clunkers)

remy bean, Thursday, 13 March 2008 20:36 (eighteen years ago)

the first time i saw Whitest Kids U Know i hated hated hated it. i've warmed to it since, somewhat.

of course i prefer the state, so what the hell do i know?

xpost: ha, i feel pretty much exactly how remy does about it

bell_labs, Thursday, 13 March 2008 20:41 (eighteen years ago)

remy bean, Thursday, 13 March 2008 20:50 (eighteen years ago)

Ned... beet risotto?

PS I don't care how old I get, I would never enjoy thirtysomething!

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 March 2008 20:51 (eighteen years ago)

which thirtysomething character drowned their entreprenurial poverty sorrows in a steady torrent of alcohol?

John Justen, Thursday, 13 March 2008 20:52 (eighteen years ago)

I have blocked all thirtysomething knowledge from my brain.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 March 2008 20:54 (eighteen years ago)

I always wound up with roommates with questionable taste. The one I was assigned when I transferred to Olaf liked to use those floral aerosol air fresheners, which smell HORRIBLE. Every time she sprayed them when I was around, I opened the window. Even in January.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 March 2008 20:55 (eighteen years ago)

IF THE SUEDE VS PUBLIC ENEMY POLL CLUSTERFUCKS ITS WAY PAST US IN THREADRANK I WILL BE V V ANGRY

This is a challenge now, eh?

Noodle Vague, Thursday, 13 March 2008 20:56 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, don't make John angry. He gets all scary and green and he randomly destroys stuff.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 March 2008 20:58 (eighteen years ago)

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 March 2008 20:58 (eighteen years ago)

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 March 2008 21:01 (eighteen years ago)

I thought I knew them well, but somehow I missed that one.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 March 2008 21:02 (eighteen years ago)

It's good to know that on Ned's grossness scale "beets" > "fish sperm".

HI DERE, Thursday, 13 March 2008 21:02 (eighteen years ago)

no, we send secret messages via edible fish sperm xpost

John Justen, Thursday, 13 March 2008 21:02 (eighteen years ago)
