-- El Tomboto

FUCK YOU I'M AN ENGLISH LIT GRAD

Rubyredd, Sunday, 9 March 2008 09:40 (eighteen years ago)

that was a bit blokeish, ruby, can you think of a way to convey your disappointment without compromising your femininity?

estela, Sunday, 9 March 2008 10:49 (eighteen years ago)

dainty bump

estela, Sunday, 9 March 2008 12:59 (eighteen years ago)

FUCK YOU I'M AN ENGLISH LIT GRAD

So am I and I'm hardly offended. Or else I wouldn't be down with Tombot's idea of a live spoken word/Moog improv in June.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 9 March 2008 13:32 (eighteen years ago)

i'm sure tombot knows i curse him only with affection.

estela, i'm lacking in many feminine wiles.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 9 March 2008 15:12 (eighteen years ago)

the least of which is feminine syntax and vocabulary.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 9 March 2008 15:14 (eighteen years ago)

I worship English lit majors and believe that everyone should marry one, or at least have one about the house.

Daylight Savings Time I'm kind of less excited about.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 16:38 (eighteen years ago)

Tom, I am sorry about your insomnia - if that is what is going on. It's totally aggravating.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 16:39 (eighteen years ago)

eh.

El Tomboto, Sunday, 9 March 2008 16:46 (eighteen years ago)

I always want to enjoy insomnia (think how much more I can get done if I don't sleep!!!!), but it doesn't work that way...

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 16:55 (eighteen years ago)

Random afternoon thread bump

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 18:23 (eighteen years ago)

I should really finish this assignment, but I don't wanna bump

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 19:37 (eighteen years ago)

BE LAZY SLACK OFF DO IT DO IT

John Justen, Sunday, 9 March 2008 19:49 (eighteen years ago)

I can't; it's due tomorrow.

It doesn't count as "slacking off" if I spend the entire time I'm writing cursing the assignment under my breath, does it?

I suck at slacking off.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 19:55 (eighteen years ago)

I also have a 50 point test-out tomorrow night, in which I will examine a mannequin. It feels incredibly nerve-wracking in the room with the mannequin. Also ridiculous, since, while the mannequins can make noise, they can't answer your questions. So when I ask, "can you tell me which toe I'm touching?" I have to hope the examining prof is going to answer, or I'm just going to feel like an idiot.

Actually, I'm going to feel like an idiot either way, aren't I.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 19:58 (eighteen years ago)

random kombucha burp bump

remy bean, Sunday, 9 March 2008 20:17 (eighteen years ago)

tastes like swampwater

remy bean, Sunday, 9 March 2008 20:17 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, explain to me exactly why you drink that? There was an article in our local paper a few weeks ago about kombucha; it sounded kinda unappealing...

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 20:39 (eighteen years ago)

there is a noise thread about kombucha somewhere.

basically, i drink it because i have an ulcer and don't do much coffee or tea any more, and i need an energy drink. apparently it is also good for your digestion, metabolism, and is super probiotic and detoxifying. there are a lot of other claims for its efficacy, but they seem somewhat pseudoscientific.

the taste is actually pretty good, and refreshing, but it is definitely different than anything else you might drink, and takes you at least a bottle to adjust to.

remy bean, Sunday, 9 March 2008 20:43 (eighteen years ago)

somebody bloggin' about it.

remy bean, Sunday, 9 March 2008 20:45 (eighteen years ago)

Hmmm, wow. Thanks for sharing that. It sounds... interesting? I can't figure out if I think it sounds awesome or gross!

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 21:06 (eighteen years ago)

the taste isn't that odd? it's the fact that it smells like vinegar that's odd, that and I suppose a lot of folks are used to bubbly drinks having a minimum level of sweetness to them

El Tomboto, Sunday, 9 March 2008 21:08 (eighteen years ago)

it's definitely not gross. now if you drink a V-8 without shaking it, that can be kind of overwhleming.

El Tomboto, Sunday, 9 March 2008 21:09 (eighteen years ago)

I think it was this sentence from the blog that gave me pause:

occasional live gloppy strands of cultures are a turn off for some.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 21:22 (eighteen years ago)

I have never gotten any in the GT Kombucha brand drinks

remy bean, Sunday, 9 March 2008 21:24 (eighteen years ago)

Hmmm - maybe I will try it sometime. I wonder if they even sell that in Northfield!

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 21:42 (eighteen years ago)

I actually think some of the stuff in my child development textbook is wildly incorrect. I'm confused by how it says 18 month olds have lots of temper tantrums, but then they fade at 2 years. "Terrible twos" apparently has no meaning to these people.

Not to mention that THREE is the worst age for temper tantrums, in my experience. Most other parents I know agree with my "three is the worst" commentary...

I can't trust my textbook guys. I'm having a CRISIS

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 22:50 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, assignment done, crisis over.

Now I can freak over my MAPS test tomorrow night. Or I can talk to myself on the internets. Hmmmmm.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 23:23 (eighteen years ago)

boughtiphoneyaytiredsleepnowmaybe

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 9 March 2008 23:26 (eighteen years ago)

Oh yay!

You win a nap!

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 23:27 (eighteen years ago)

I'm trying to find a friend's phone number so that I can have dinner with someone after my test tomorrow night. But the number I have for her is disconnected! ;_;

Time to search through vast email backlog to see if the new number is in there.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 23:29 (eighteen years ago)

andnewerykahbaduandshortsyay

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 9 March 2008 23:29 (eighteen years ago)

Ned, honey, PLEASE take the nap! It will give you your space bar back.

Number found, message left. Now I can obsess about assessing the mannequin. ...YAY?!

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 23:36 (eighteen years ago)

i read "arresting the mannequin" lol

lxy, Sunday, 9 March 2008 23:48 (eighteen years ago)

(i expect because of the screaming, an arrest-worthy offense)

lxy, Sunday, 9 March 2008 23:48 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, screaming is only one of the mannequins many offenses. I also would like to arrest them for confusing me about their gender. (Patients are always identified as "mister," and yet all of the mannequins I've worked with have breasts. Usually their faces and haircuts indicate "male," though. IT IS CONFUSING TO TALK TO THE MANNEQUINS UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES)

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 23:59 (eighteen years ago)

It's Monday! Somewhere.

bump

Sara R-C, Monday, 10 March 2008 00:57 (eighteen years ago)

BUMP for max's engagement toast! bump

bell_labs, Monday, 10 March 2008 01:42 (eighteen years ago)

this whole max marriage thing makes me a little creped out

remy bean, Monday, 10 March 2008 01:43 (eighteen years ago)

it's monday in nz! bump

Rubyredd, Monday, 10 March 2008 01:46 (eighteen years ago)

ok remy i should start a poll for WHO WANTS TO MARRY REMY AND GET ALL STEAMY

Rubyredd, Monday, 10 March 2008 01:47 (eighteen years ago)

WHO WANTS TO MARRY REAMY AND GET ALL STEAMY, you mean.

It's also monday here and it is a shitty day :/

W4LTER, Monday, 10 March 2008 01:50 (eighteen years ago)

sadly, ruby, i am not marriage material.

i would, however, have a steamy many-decade unconsummated affair with anybody who's game.

remy bean, Monday, 10 March 2008 01:54 (eighteen years ago)

remy's notion of an affair is baffling.

Personally, I think my family could use a few more wives. We can't keep up on housework the way it is. I can't persuade A. to become a Mormon, however.

xpost They claim it is going to get warmer here this week, but I don't believe it. Then again, it is still Sunday where I am.

Sara R-C, Monday, 10 March 2008 01:56 (eighteen years ago)

my notion of 'affair' comes straight out of david lean's film 'brief encounter'

remy bean, Monday, 10 March 2008 01:57 (eighteen years ago)

I'm so pathetically behind the times. I've never even heard of that film. ;_;

Sara R-C, Monday, 10 March 2008 02:03 (eighteen years ago)

sadly, ruby, i am not marriage material

son, ITR will be the judge of that.

Rubyredd, Monday, 10 March 2008 02:09 (eighteen years ago)

presumption on the part of remy as to the role of ITR in his life decisions - 3 day ban

John Justen, Monday, 10 March 2008 02:36 (eighteen years ago)

:O
