my little sister just turned up in town to surprise me, but i'm stuck at work so couldn't really hang out. she was with this very creepy gross looking dude... she just broke up with her longterm bf a couple of weeks ago and apparently this is the new guy. i'm pretty worried.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 9 March 2008 02:34 (eighteen years ago)

it is a-ok mr stet

Rubyredd, Sunday, 9 March 2008 02:35 (eighteen years ago)

but if it had gone on much longer i would have been stressed since i have nothing else to do all day at work.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 9 March 2008 02:35 (eighteen years ago)

well there is customers to see to but fuck that shit

Rubyredd, Sunday, 9 March 2008 02:35 (eighteen years ago)

it seems sara's tricky physics broke the thread title but stet galloped in and gave us a new one pronto!

ruby, try not to worry, hopefully it will be over in a couple of weeks.

estela, Sunday, 9 March 2008 02:37 (eighteen years ago)

i know i can't stop her from going through some shitty/dodgy/awful relationships, but still sucks big time to have to sit back and just be there when shit hits the fan.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 9 March 2008 02:38 (eighteen years ago)

Dodgy/awful relationships are unavoidable, but of course you want to protect your sister!

My cousin just got dumped abruptly last week - and the relationship seemed to be going well! Falling in love is so fun and great and break-ups and related stuff is soooooooo bad.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 02:53 (eighteen years ago)

sigh, i got the gay-gazelle playing the wii, so it is blessedly quiet here for the first time in ages

remy bean, Sunday, 9 March 2008 03:04 (eighteen years ago)

i listened to and enjoyed your show, max, but it i never knew what songs were played. under the "just played" or "now playing" or whatever part of the site, it kept saying the same 4 songs (deftones, weezer, tom waits , on e other)

Lingbert, Sunday, 9 March 2008 03:41 (eighteen years ago)

Falling in love is so fun and great and break-ups and related stuff is soooooooo bad.

Lemme tell ya, those divorcing friends I mentioned a couple of weeks back? It's turning into the type of thing that has *really* made me glad to be single now, I'll totally admit it.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 9 March 2008 04:05 (eighteen years ago)

i am kinda bummed this week about being permasingle

remy bean, Sunday, 9 March 2008 04:06 (eighteen years ago)

i filled out an eharmony profile to discover my 'best matches' and got even more depressed

remy bean, Sunday, 9 March 2008 04:07 (eighteen years ago)

in the past 8 years, i have been single 97.22222222% of the time, and as much as i normally hate depresso-singles, i am sorta feeling like one this week

remy bean, Sunday, 9 March 2008 04:08 (eighteen years ago)

It's been an upsetting week, things like Big Sur aside. Things'll be on the up.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 9 March 2008 04:09 (eighteen years ago)

in the meantime, i have 1/8th of a bottle of jack left

remy bean, Sunday, 9 March 2008 04:09 (eighteen years ago)

There is that.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 9 March 2008 04:11 (eighteen years ago)

Srsly, this last week or so has brought the news of the death of a friend's father and the death of a different friend's brother. Another friend's husband lost his job AND they have an autistic son whose teachers want to move him from being mainstreamed to a special school. I had to put my cat to sleep. And a week or two ago my very dear cousin got dumped.

Ned, I feel for you about the divorcing friends. Watching people divorce is apt to turn you off romance for life. Circumstances cause me to be the ONE person who doesn't get to take sides. But that leads to huge awkwardness (especially since the ex-husband to be has moved in with his girlfriend... just TRY being friends with the dumped wife AND the new girlfriend!).

MORE GOOD NEWS, PLZ

And if someone could eradicate APA formatting from the face of the earth, that would be aces, too.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 04:18 (eighteen years ago)

HAW HAW on that last point. APA formatting will outlive the cockroaches.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 9 March 2008 04:25 (eighteen years ago)

I swear I'm spending more time on APA format than on writing itself. LAME.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 05:55 (eighteen years ago)

Love to all, sleep well; I'm going to sleep many, many hours. GOOD NIGHT!

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 05:56 (eighteen years ago)

good night sara!

estela, Sunday, 9 March 2008 05:58 (eighteen years ago)

-- El Tomboto

FUCK YOU I'M AN ENGLISH LIT GRAD

Rubyredd, Sunday, 9 March 2008 09:40 (eighteen years ago)

that was a bit blokeish, ruby, can you think of a way to convey your disappointment without compromising your femininity?

estela, Sunday, 9 March 2008 10:49 (eighteen years ago)

dainty bump

estela, Sunday, 9 March 2008 12:59 (eighteen years ago)

FUCK YOU I'M AN ENGLISH LIT GRAD

So am I and I'm hardly offended. Or else I wouldn't be down with Tombot's idea of a live spoken word/Moog improv in June.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 9 March 2008 13:32 (eighteen years ago)

i'm sure tombot knows i curse him only with affection.

estela, i'm lacking in many feminine wiles.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 9 March 2008 15:12 (eighteen years ago)

the least of which is feminine syntax and vocabulary.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 9 March 2008 15:14 (eighteen years ago)

I worship English lit majors and believe that everyone should marry one, or at least have one about the house.

Daylight Savings Time I'm kind of less excited about.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 16:38 (eighteen years ago)

Tom, I am sorry about your insomnia - if that is what is going on. It's totally aggravating.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 16:39 (eighteen years ago)

eh.

El Tomboto, Sunday, 9 March 2008 16:46 (eighteen years ago)

I always want to enjoy insomnia (think how much more I can get done if I don't sleep!!!!), but it doesn't work that way...

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 16:55 (eighteen years ago)

Random afternoon thread bump

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 18:23 (eighteen years ago)

I should really finish this assignment, but I don't wanna bump

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 19:37 (eighteen years ago)

BE LAZY SLACK OFF DO IT DO IT

John Justen, Sunday, 9 March 2008 19:49 (eighteen years ago)

I can't; it's due tomorrow.

It doesn't count as "slacking off" if I spend the entire time I'm writing cursing the assignment under my breath, does it?

I suck at slacking off.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 19:55 (eighteen years ago)

I also have a 50 point test-out tomorrow night, in which I will examine a mannequin. It feels incredibly nerve-wracking in the room with the mannequin. Also ridiculous, since, while the mannequins can make noise, they can't answer your questions. So when I ask, "can you tell me which toe I'm touching?" I have to hope the examining prof is going to answer, or I'm just going to feel like an idiot.

Actually, I'm going to feel like an idiot either way, aren't I.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 19:58 (eighteen years ago)

random kombucha burp bump

remy bean, Sunday, 9 March 2008 20:17 (eighteen years ago)

tastes like swampwater

remy bean, Sunday, 9 March 2008 20:17 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, explain to me exactly why you drink that? There was an article in our local paper a few weeks ago about kombucha; it sounded kinda unappealing...

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 20:39 (eighteen years ago)

there is a noise thread about kombucha somewhere.

basically, i drink it because i have an ulcer and don't do much coffee or tea any more, and i need an energy drink. apparently it is also good for your digestion, metabolism, and is super probiotic and detoxifying. there are a lot of other claims for its efficacy, but they seem somewhat pseudoscientific.

the taste is actually pretty good, and refreshing, but it is definitely different than anything else you might drink, and takes you at least a bottle to adjust to.

remy bean, Sunday, 9 March 2008 20:43 (eighteen years ago)

somebody bloggin' about it.

remy bean, Sunday, 9 March 2008 20:45 (eighteen years ago)

Hmmm, wow. Thanks for sharing that. It sounds... interesting? I can't figure out if I think it sounds awesome or gross!

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 21:06 (eighteen years ago)

the taste isn't that odd? it's the fact that it smells like vinegar that's odd, that and I suppose a lot of folks are used to bubbly drinks having a minimum level of sweetness to them

El Tomboto, Sunday, 9 March 2008 21:08 (eighteen years ago)

it's definitely not gross. now if you drink a V-8 without shaking it, that can be kind of overwhleming.

El Tomboto, Sunday, 9 March 2008 21:09 (eighteen years ago)
