Oh when I pout in the corner you'll fuckin know it.

I put this here every year because I hate shitting up roll outs with my dumb thoughts because who cares? Like yeah, I hate that minaj song, that matters to me, and anybody who wants to meander in here in case I say something funny.

75 TUNE-YARDS "Water Fountain"

FULL DISCLOSURE I VOTED FOR THIS although almost as a placeholder for thinking theres something going on with her that is still kind of revealing itself. its unapologetic and weird and difficult in a way that i didnt hear a lot of this year, the song just keeps breaking apart the longer you listen and then somehow reassembles itself in the last minute. im down.

74 NINOS DU BRASIL "Sombra da Lua"

going into this completely blind and straight out of the gate i am dragged in deep, this is how i want you to drum at me, aggressive (not quiiite sure about the bass wub choice but whatever) nicely stacked and bashing and unrelenting and yeaaaaah this is how you fucking do it man welcome back late 80s industrial influence i missed you boo. would have voted for this in a high position if it had been on my radar. 9/10

xpost: well then have some more!

nice call on, like, the Test Dept influence there, I missed that previously but it totally makes sense

some kind of terrible IDM with guitars (sleeve), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 18:11 (eleven years ago)

yeah i was pretty surprised and trying to grab a specific touchstone but yeah test dept, rabies era skinny puppy without the guitar lines maybe?

a strawman stuffed with their collection of 12 cds (jjjusten), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 18:13 (eleven years ago)

Skinny Puppy a good call. Especially the blow out at the end.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 18:14 (eleven years ago)

a strawman stuffed with their collection of 12 cds (jjjusten), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 18:14 (eleven years ago)

Hmm. Maybe?

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 18:16 (eleven years ago)

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 18:19 (eleven years ago)

73 KING "Mister Chameleon"

This will lead to two things 1. people claiming this person can sing. and she cant. she is terrible. ear breaking terrible. i hate her 2. naps. i hate all of it. 2/10

a strawman stuffed with their collection of 12 cds (jjjusten), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 18:23 (eleven years ago)

yeah idg that one at all

hahah, so not OTM but I laughed anyway

Vulvacura (Eric H.), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 18:51 (eleven years ago)

I think the King vote came from I Love Shopping for Furniture lurkers.

american tail/american pie (how's life), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 18:55 (eleven years ago)

you have to reserve "can't sing" for Haim to unleash most clusterfuck iirc

Far too generous. A good sad wank song is a glorious thing.

emil.y, Thursday, 22 January 2015 13:15 (eleven years ago)

Perversely, my favourite discovery of the rollout so far has been the Katy Perry song with 782 million YouTube views which i seem to have managed to miss all year.

Yesterday was a good run.

Vermillion is a "trying on jeans somewhere" kind of song.

how's life, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:03 (eleven years ago)

haha i don't know what this means -- or even if it's a diss? -- but i kind of like it.

Tove Lo Tove You Baby (jaymc), Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:41 (eleven years ago)

basically the same as the "mid-tier fashion store music" diss of Rather Be, no?

rob, Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:42 (eleven years ago)

Tbh, I don't take either of those descriptions as disses, even though they may have been intended as such.

Tove Lo Tove You Baby (jaymc), Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:46 (eleven years ago)

that's true and I don't think whoever posted that even meant it as a diss, replace with "comment on"

rob, Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:47 (eleven years ago)

I've had day-long meetings for the past three days and I'm realizing now that missing the vast majority of the tracks rollout didn't bother me at all, particularly since "Two Weeks" looks to be either #1 or #2. Kind of bummed no one went for Alcest, though.

Let me help you out Charlie XCX fan (DJP), Thursday, 22 January 2015 20:44 (eleven years ago)

I'm bummed so many people think the Ear Murderers are good.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 22 January 2015 20:46 (eleven years ago)

Well, people also think Taylor Swift and Tyler the Creator are good so it's not really a shock to me.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 22 January 2015 20:53 (eleven years ago)

My brother gave me an album by The 1978ers for my birthday that I wish I'd heard last year because I would have been pushing it heavily:

Let me help you out Charlie XCX fan (DJP), Thursday, 22 January 2015 21:03 (eleven years ago)

This is the band you were telling me about! Wow, this is great.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 22 January 2015 21:03 (eleven years ago)

The whole album is FAAAAAANTASTIC

Let me help you out Charlie XCX fan (DJP), Thursday, 22 January 2015 21:04 (eleven years ago)

These two songs smoke, so I'm adding it to the purchase list.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 22 January 2015 21:06 (eleven years ago)

three weeks pass...

Took a break, not related, but did I miss some reevaluation where people decided Drake wasn't hilariously awful?

3 Kendrick Lamar - King Kunta

i voted for this because it's great. might be the only track i had place so obv 10/10

a strawman stuffed with their collection of 12 cds (jjjusten), Thursday, 21 January 2016 21:55 (ten years ago)

If I was going to redo my ballot, I would put more Kendrick on it, because I honestly got more enjoyment out of songs on that album as songs than I did any other album I listened to this year except for Marriages.
