even though she wasn't there, and even though i <3 her, i am inclined to blame rubitchredd for this entire fiasco.

how do people eat that shit on a daily basis? they were tolerably bad upon first smell and taste, but then the aftertaste and the....aftersmell? WOULD NOT GO AWAY. the longer i sat there, the more i wanted to keep lowering my scores. eventually i just gave up. i tried to kill the aftertaste with joffas and beer, but nothing worked. as for the ability to linger, all 3 foodstuffs are champs.

my description of the smell and taste was something like "yeasty nursing home and asshole."

btw my #1 actually ended up being vegemite somehow. it wasn't a clear winner in my head, more just that it happened to end up having the most points.

btw estela the expression on your dog's face was perfect for what was sitting in front of it.

also, the line "so i hit him in the face with a vegemite sandwich" doesn't sound so comical anymore. gross.

but seriously, thanks to all who sent stuff. it was gross, but now i know. joffas are pretty good, though.

i liked the potential of bovril. the execution was ... well, significantly better than that of vegemite/marmite. i kept eating it though, in the same guilty and perverse fashion in which i dip crackers in the oil that comes atop peanut butter. it seems like it would be a wonderful ingredient for a molecular gastronomer.

vegemite was decent (if too salty) but the aftertaste lingered and lingered and lingered. neither whiskey nor soda nor water nor bread could clear it from my palate. i left my big scorecard at the lxy/jergz compound, but i believe i described the appearance as 'bloody boogers' and the taste as 'sweat from a dehydrated arab's scrotum'

marmite did not lead one to create crude, lewd, biological metaphors, just imparted sensation of eating something muddy, british, and very very old. like the schmutz that might've gotten stuck on the bottom of James Herriot's wellingtons.
