I forgot how atrocious sterling's posts on race threads are

El Tomboto, Friday, 15 February 2008 20:48 (eighteen years ago)

Instead of reading that thread, I will pick my kids up from school. This may be the only thing that saves me, guys.

Sara R-C, Friday, 15 February 2008 20:50 (eighteen years ago)

hey guys I know what'll make friday afternoon really awesome and fun and go by really fast. let's talk about RACE! yeah that is a good idea, let's do that.

jessie monster, Friday, 15 February 2008 20:50 (eighteen years ago)

then we can talk about class and gender.

jessie monster, Friday, 15 February 2008 20:50 (eighteen years ago)

I am sure we will make some awesome insights.

jessie monster, Friday, 15 February 2008 20:50 (eighteen years ago)

sterling's apparent belief that he is intellectually inculpable for using white-boy-book-learnin-liberal-yuppie-bred stereotypes as his straw men because the first word in that string doesn't apply to him personally is unbelievably irritating to me bump dammit bump

El Tomboto, Friday, 15 February 2008 20:53 (eighteen years ago)

there should be a killfile for certain thread topics, I think.

jessie monster, Friday, 15 February 2008 20:57 (eighteen years ago)

goddamn now the cesar milan thread is going down; today is an angry day on ILX.

jessie monster, Friday, 15 February 2008 21:17 (eighteen years ago)

KANTLIPS, Friday, 15 February 2008 21:35 (eighteen years ago)

kantlips needs to teach this dude to stop posting on the internet and nut up: So if there's this girl you really like and you're thinking about going to the cinema with her, but fears she might think you're coming on to her

max, Friday, 15 February 2008 21:38 (eighteen years ago)

I think I just traumatized my mother by telling her we're watching The 40-Year Old Virgin. I should not have done that on her birthday!

Sara R-C, Friday, 15 February 2008 22:32 (eighteen years ago)

oh wtf we fell behind the white people like stuff thread

El Tomboto, Saturday, 16 February 2008 01:13 (eighteen years ago)

THIS IS AN INJUSTICE.

jessie monster, Saturday, 16 February 2008 01:52 (eighteen years ago)

jesus fucking christ if i have to stay here four more goddamn months i better get a new job. because this stupid fucking shoe store is really fucking killing me. SERIOUSLY. it's like one fucking bastard-ass-dick-fuck after another. I JUST CAN'T TAKE IT MY SKIN IS TOO THIN.

Rubyredd, Saturday, 16 February 2008 02:01 (eighteen years ago)

rubyredd,

my sister (from US) spent two years filling out visa applications and visiting 65465356783 consular offices in Boston, Bogotá, New York and Medellín to get her fiancé a travel visa for her Colombian fiancé, finally got him here and married him, and now has 90 days to get his permit to work and identification –– a process that takes between 100 and 120 days.

it is incredibly, incredibly, incredibly frustrating, and i sympathize with her (and your) plight. u.s. gov't are a bunch of sleazebuckets when it comes to preventing access to the country by dint of red tape and absurdly and intentionally complex processes of registration. my sis has made great use of the community forums at visajourney.com, and jumped ahead of her fellow applicants using advice garnered from the forums. i recommend you might take a look, if you haven't already.

bonus: you speak english, which most of the applicants don't.

remy bean, Saturday, 16 February 2008 03:34 (eighteen years ago)

to get her fiancé a travel visa for her Colombian fiancé -- wtf?

remy bean, Saturday, 16 February 2008 03:34 (eighteen years ago)

yeah i think i might have a marginally easier time, being from nz. there aren't a million and one nzers trying to get to the US - it's not really our 'culture' because most nzers tend to go to europe and/or asia. most ppl think i'm weird for wanting to move to the states.

hopefully getting the one year work visa won't be too hard - they're milking me for cash because it's a sponsorship agency i have to go through, and they do a lot of the paperwork. then we have the whole year to get married and start applying for a spousal visa. the other bonus is that the nz embassy in the US probably isn't that busy so will have a lot of time for me (as my best friend found when she moved to switzerland).

i guess it's a testament to how much your sis loves her (new) husband that she's persisted. honestly, as fucking sucky as this whole situation is, i can't imagine giving up.

Rubyredd, Saturday, 16 February 2008 03:41 (eighteen years ago)

Rr, god, sympathies on the jobsuck. (long strings of swears on the boards help though, huh? thanks, boards.)

lxy, Saturday, 16 February 2008 03:53 (eighteen years ago)

yeah swears are amazingly satisfying and calming, but would have an even greater effect if sweared directly at customers.

jordan is talking about selling his entire collection of bukowski books to come see me for 3 days.

Rubyredd, Saturday, 16 February 2008 04:08 (eighteen years ago)

<3 tru luv <3

lxy, Saturday, 16 February 2008 04:24 (eighteen years ago)

and yes, directly at would be better. i often want to swear at my boss but i only do it in my head. really bad names. may no one i work with ever read this, please please please.

lxy, Saturday, 16 February 2008 04:25 (eighteen years ago)

talking him out of it was possibly one of the hardest things i've ever had to do :(

but yes it is most definitely <3 tru luv <3

Rubyredd, Saturday, 16 February 2008 04:45 (eighteen years ago)

I wonder if it is this thread that has given me insane flashbacks to my former life of retail hell. Welll, no matter. Vent away - you've got a sympathetic ear here.

Home from party and putting the kids to bed waaaaaaaaay past their bedtimes... tomorrow should be fun. (Where "fun" = horribly cranky children.)

Sara R-C, Saturday, 16 February 2008 05:27 (eighteen years ago)

THREAD TITLE BLAADOWWWW

John Justen, Saturday, 16 February 2008 14:59 (eighteen years ago)

I blame myself. ;_;

Sara R-C, Saturday, 16 February 2008 16:16 (eighteen years ago)

Argh, I have to get on the treadmill now. 5.5 miles seems like a really long, pointless way to go today.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 16 February 2008 19:45 (eighteen years ago)

perhaps if you walked to somewhere 5.5 miles away instead of on a rubber loop in your house, these feelings of pointlessness might subside

John Justen, Saturday, 16 February 2008 19:47 (eighteen years ago)

Also if you were eating pie while walking.

HI DERE, Saturday, 16 February 2008 20:08 (eighteen years ago)

just do a shot every half mile

John Justen, Saturday, 16 February 2008 20:09 (eighteen years ago)

a shot of pie

HI DERE, Saturday, 16 February 2008 20:23 (eighteen years ago)

a shot of pie-infused vodka

John Justen, Saturday, 16 February 2008 21:11 (eighteen years ago)

I appreciate your heartening words of encouragement.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 16 February 2008 21:15 (eighteen years ago)

GO TEAM CHERRY PIE FILLING INFUSED VODKA

John Justen, Sunday, 17 February 2008 00:19 (eighteen years ago)

wait no that would suck

John Justen, Sunday, 17 February 2008 00:19 (eighteen years ago)

Didn't you try to create an apple pie drink? As I recall, your review of it was not entirely complimentary.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 17 February 2008 01:12 (eighteen years ago)

I tend to prefer chocolate or cream pies to fruit pies anyway. Although French Silk pie infused vodka sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 17 February 2008 01:13 (eighteen years ago)

jesus, 10 hours since the last post??? we have failed in our duties! but i still love you, ITR. <3 <3 <3

Rubyredd, Sunday, 17 February 2008 11:03 (eighteen years ago)

cutest thing in the world: jordan's mum sent me a valentine's day card!

Rubyredd, Sunday, 17 February 2008 11:04 (eighteen years ago)

funniest thing in the world: my sis saw my evil demented crazy wack-job ex today and when he asked how i was, she replied with "she's great! she's moving to the US and getting MARRIED!" and he almost fell over from the shock.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 17 February 2008 11:06 (eighteen years ago)

i know it's lame to be all smug towards your ex, but goddamn, it's such a good feeling.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 17 February 2008 11:07 (eighteen years ago)

remy bean, Sunday, 17 February 2008 15:11 (eighteen years ago)

Good morning! I am going ice skating again this afternoon and also A. bought hot cross buns which I love. YAY

Sara R-C, Sunday, 17 February 2008 16:26 (eighteen years ago)

John Justen, Sunday, 17 February 2008 16:38 (eighteen years ago)

Drink a bunch of water, take a couple Advil and take a nap. Might help!

Sara R-C, Sunday, 17 February 2008 17:25 (eighteen years ago)
