estela, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 22:25 (eighteen years ago)

now i am going to complain about valentine's day. i don't really like it, it depresses me a little bit. it all seems so unimaginative and desperate and exploitative, people clutching roses that will never open and eating terrible set menu dinners.

estela, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 22:36 (eighteen years ago)

I will celebrate Valentine's Day by going to my nursing class. WHEEE

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 22:38 (eighteen years ago)

my girlfriend is celebrating valentines day by djing a gallery party while i have class

max, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 22:39 (eighteen years ago)

valentine's day is horrible and i would hate this one with especial vigor if i didn't have the three Ls going for me thursday night: lxy, lingbert, lost.

jergïns, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 22:42 (eighteen years ago)

AND LIQUOR

jergïns, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 22:42 (eighteen years ago)

estela, I am with you on the flowers, though (THEY WILL DIE!) - and we never go out on the actual day because restaurants are too busy. (Uh, actually, we almost never even manage to go out for dinner on our anniversary, either; Other Stuff always comes up).

I think our mutual loathing of Valentine's Day was one of the things that A. and I first talked about when we met. V-Day was coming up and we were like, ARGH I HATE THAT DAY. I left for an event for the weekend and got back to find that he had left me a card on my door. I think it was a homemade card, made with black glue. ("Dries to a bright neon color!" Neon... black? wtf)

I reciprocated by making a National Grapefruit Day card for him and slipping it under his door.

I'm pretty sure these cards are somewhere in our house now.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 22:43 (eighteen years ago)

Also, we don't really hate Valentine's Day anymore, but I think we just don't care about it much. National Grapefruit Month should get more attention.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 22:44 (eighteen years ago)

I INSIST THAT YOU ALL HAVE VALENTINE'S DAY MEALS CONSISTING OF BUGLES, CHEETOS, AND GRAPEFRUIT

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 22:59 (eighteen years ago)

John Justen, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 23:00 (eighteen years ago)

I'm sure he'd appreciate a special Valentine's Day gift like that, but I think he's prefer it come from you rather than me, John.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 23:02 (eighteen years ago)

estela, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 23:15 (eighteen years ago)

I am sad that I will be at my class now, not somewhere fixing up boxes of grapefruits to ship to people. ;_;

(or watching LOST, because that would obviously be good, too)

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 23:17 (eighteen years ago)

one makes choices in life, Sara.

John Justen, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 23:18 (eighteen years ago)

your choice has been never delivering on promised shipments of goods to people

John Justen, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 23:18 (eighteen years ago)

John, I never promised you a rose garden grapefruit poop.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 23:20 (eighteen years ago)

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 23:27 (eighteen years ago)

Yes you did!

There's a vast difference between a promise and a threat.

I should have sent John grapefruit a long time ago, though. We ALL should have.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 23:31 (eighteen years ago)

YOU ARE ALL INVITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

estela, webmail me your address and i will send you bugles for valentine's day. (they will be late.)

my office is having a valentine's day potluck, and we're supposed to bring red or red-themed food. i secretly hope every last person brings red snapper. while it would be very disgusting, i would laugh my ass off.

lxy, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 23:32 (eighteen years ago)

Red snapper marinated in red cinnamon hearts.

lxy, you know what you have to do.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 23:35 (eighteen years ago)

yes: call in sick.

lxy, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 23:37 (eighteen years ago)

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 23:39 (eighteen years ago)

TO MOLLIFY LINGJACKSON OVERDRIVEBERT WHO IS THE SQUEAKY BO, POST ON THIS THREAD AND ONE OF YOUR FRIENDLY ITR MODS WILL TELL YOU THAT YOU ARE WICKED AWESOME, AND POSSIBLY OFFER AN EFFUSIVE STATEMENT OF HOW IT WOULD BE ABSURD TO SAY YOU COULDN'T, I DON'T KNOW, STICK SOMETHING UNDER THE FINGERNAIL, SMACK HIM IN THE FACE

tent. proposal

John Justen, Thursday, 14 February 2008 00:26 (eighteen years ago)

I should really read that thread more carefully, but I'm trying to avoid headaches.

I also endorse John's thread title suggestion, but am saddened that Scalia himself will never see it. ;_;

Sara R-C, Thursday, 14 February 2008 00:29 (eighteen years ago)

NO NO NO DO NOT READ THAT THREAD

John Justen, Thursday, 14 February 2008 00:30 (eighteen years ago)

It's sweet that you are trying to protect me from myself, but it's probably a wasted effort.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 14 February 2008 00:32 (eighteen years ago)

in a perfect world that thing would have been pipecock.jpged into oblivion by now srsly

John Justen, Thursday, 14 February 2008 00:32 (eighteen years ago)

i mean if you have a few hours to kill and want to watch people alternate between high-fiving each other and rallying around a flag of cranky illogic that cannot be surmounted by rational thought, be my guest

John Justen, Thursday, 14 February 2008 00:34 (eighteen years ago)

I'm srsly trying to decide whether that sounds better or worse than my intended evening plan of laundry, treadmill, study study study.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 14 February 2008 00:36 (eighteen years ago)

one day until i am the only non-married person in my family
