my eight-year-old sister actually flew through a safety fence and ended up in a tree, where a ski instructor had to rescue her with a pair of ladders

remy bean, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:22 (eighteen years ago)

I have never skiied.

W4LTER, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:27 (eighteen years ago)

remy... wow. I'm not regretting my Not Skiing decision here!

W4LTER, you obviously need to go try some dangerous winter sports. I recommend immediately visiting Minnesota for these purposes.

Sara R-C, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:29 (eighteen years ago)

i've only skiied once and i was a duffer.

also water-skiing: once, timid, duffer.

estela, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:31 (eighteen years ago)

I have not water-skiied either! I suck. I have ice skated once or twice, when I was in school. I was baddd.

W4LTER, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:35 (eighteen years ago)

i'm still laughing about 'sorry mate, your forks are fucked'.

estela, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:39 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, water-skiing might be fun, but I could never manage to get UP onto the skis. Maybe I was just worried that I would lose my swim suit top, though.

W4lter, report immediately to Minnesota for remedial ice skating lessons. You and Alex can figure it out together.

Sara R-C, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:53 (eighteen years ago)

lol it would be totally awesome if the Giants offense decided they had something they'd like to contribute to the Superbowl. >.<

jessie monster, Monday, 4 February 2008 02:07 (eighteen years ago)

Aww, I wish I was watching that ;_;.

W4LTER, Monday, 4 February 2008 02:08 (eighteen years ago)

I wish I was watching PUPPY BOWL.

jessie monster, Monday, 4 February 2008 02:08 (eighteen years ago)

I am going to watch Bruce Almighty. I'm kind of not that excited about it.

Sara R-C, Monday, 4 February 2008 02:33 (eighteen years ago)

WATCH PUPPY BOWL.

jessie monster, Monday, 4 February 2008 02:38 (eighteen years ago)

on the internets, I just found this photo with this caption o_O

http://www.mybunnies.com/images/cats/kitties_bathroom1_022005.jpg

This is all the kitties, including my daughters, joining me in the bathroom. My husband thinks its funny to stick them all in the bathroom one at a time when I am in there. Of course, I love to have them in there.

W4LTER, Monday, 4 February 2008 02:45 (eighteen years ago)

Roo resting. She only has 3 legs. The 4th leg, is just a little deformed stump, but you can't tell her she's disabled!

W4LTER, Monday, 4 February 2008 02:47 (eighteen years ago)

Poor Roo :(

W4LTER, Monday, 4 February 2008 02:47 (eighteen years ago)

pegaroo

estela, Monday, 4 February 2008 02:50 (eighteen years ago)

i'm one of the least coordinated people i know. i have managed to go 28 years without ever having skied, water-skied, ice-skated or any other such sports. i did try rollerskating as a kid and fell really goddamn hard on my ass and hurt my tail bone pretty bad.

i'm officially 1/3 of the way through a paper that is due tomorrow. anxiety is setting in.

Rubyredd, Monday, 4 February 2008 02:52 (eighteen years ago)

what's it on?

estela, Monday, 4 February 2008 02:53 (eighteen years ago)

it's a media studies paper, comprised of three separate questions. the first one was just a close reading of an article about the effects of internet on sociability patterns. the next part requires me to choose an example from popular media and write about how ideology and power relations operate within it.

i'm thinking a movie would be the easiest kind of media example to use, but i can't pick one.

Rubyredd, Monday, 4 February 2008 02:56 (eighteen years ago)

Roo (As in Kanga and Roo. Little Roo is grey and she hops. This is exactly how this kitty looks and gets around)

W4LTER, Monday, 4 February 2008 02:57 (eighteen years ago)

HI DERE, Monday, 4 February 2008 04:12 (eighteen years ago)

^^^ you, me, and I'm guessing both our SO's are the happiest people in Massachusetts right now.

jessie monster, Monday, 4 February 2008 04:14 (eighteen years ago)

people i expect to see @ lunch today:

ned, jbr, adamrl, nickn, max r, jeff treppel, elvis telecom, felicity, roger mexico

nice work.

i just fapped with jaq, lingbert, reverend, the higgs, timi yuro and a buncha non-ilxors who thankfully didn't ask 'so how do you all know each other?'

jergïns, Monday, 4 February 2008 05:23 (eighteen years ago)

Aw, sounds fun! Good job, everyone. (including the New York Giants, I guess!)

Kitty pictures are all A+++++ btw.

Sara R-C, Monday, 4 February 2008 05:45 (eighteen years ago)

so i decided to use shortbus as my media example... do you think i'll get in trouble for talking about orgasms and orgies in my paper?

Rubyredd, Monday, 4 February 2008 05:46 (eighteen years ago)

I guess it depends on your prof, but I wouldn't think so. I spent my first year of college at an all-women's Catholic college, and my English prof had us study Lysistrata. It was pretty amusing to be at this super-conservative school, writing about the references to oral sex in the text.

Sara R-C, Monday, 4 February 2008 06:25 (eighteen years ago)

Also, it's a media class, right? That sounds like the kind of class where the prof would not be offended easily.

I could be wrong, of course. I shouldn't stereotype media studies profs as liberal types.

Sara R-C, Monday, 4 February 2008 06:26 (eighteen years ago)

I'm going to sleeeeeeep now bump

good night, all

Sara R-C, Monday, 4 February 2008 07:09 (eighteen years ago)

ok now i'm 2/3 of the way through above mentioned essay. it's now midnight and i need to leave the house about 12:45pm tomorrow. i'm pretty sure i can get this done in 12 hours, but this last part is the hardest: discuss why fans should be considered an active media audience. neat fun. BUMPBUMPBUMP.

Rubyredd, Monday, 4 February 2008 11:05 (eighteen years ago)

have written nothing since my last bump :(

Rubyredd, Monday, 4 February 2008 13:26 (eighteen years ago)

poor ruby, i know that feeling very well, but you will get it done because you have to, futile broken thread title bump

estela, Monday, 4 February 2008 13:38 (eighteen years ago)

the thread title is a metaphor for my broken spirit *woeful sighhhhh*

Rubyredd, Monday, 4 February 2008 13:53 (eighteen years ago)

goodnight poor ruby ;_;

estela, Monday, 4 February 2008 14:22 (eighteen years ago)

goodnight estela!

dudes you are all asleep and it is 3:30am and i am awake at least but staring blankly at my notes and feel completely stuck. i've run out of steam. if i hadn't so royally fucked up the rest of the semester for this class, i would just go to sleep now and hand in the 2/3 i've done tomorrow, but there's a good chance i could fail the class if i do that.

the best part is that as soon as this one is complete, i have to get back to work on my small press paper cuz that one is due friday :( :( :(

Rubyredd, Monday, 4 February 2008 14:33 (eighteen years ago)

good night estela!

Rubyredd - YOU CAN DO IT! Just finish up, turn it in, and then reward yourself with a small treat (read a chapter of a book you WANT to read or take a short nap or something).

Will you be done in one week?

Sara R-C, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:20 (eighteen years ago)

GO RUBYREDD!

Sara R-C, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:20 (eighteen years ago)

bumpity

jessie monster, Monday, 4 February 2008 18:09 (eighteen years ago)

so, tonight do i go to a local bar and "prepare to caucus" with special guests Kal Penn and Scarlett Johansson?

MN is weird sometimes

John Justen, Monday, 4 February 2008 19:12 (eighteen years ago)

Why not? It could be fun!

I am trying to help friends figure out where to go to caucus. This is not complicated (D - go to Middle School; R - go to high school) EXCEPT for the part of Northfield that is in Dakota County. I don't know where to send those people.

John, are you going to just cast your Presidential preference ballot and be done with it, or are you staying for the actual caucusing?

Sara R-C, Monday, 4 February 2008 19:22 (eighteen years ago)

Will there be whipped cream?

HI DERE, Monday, 4 February 2008 19:36 (eighteen years ago)

At the bar or at the caucus itself? Or both?

Sara R-C, Monday, 4 February 2008 19:39 (eighteen years ago)

i am trying to decide if i really want to watch a bunch of political wonks fanboys swarming Scarlett J. like locusts

John Justen, Monday, 4 February 2008 19:45 (eighteen years ago)

while poor kumar stands there trying to cadge drinks off of fratboys

John Justen, Monday, 4 February 2008 19:46 (eighteen years ago)
