Also, I don't know - I was away at college and therefore missed the party Dan is writing about. I don't even know who he's referring to! I think this is a Good Thing.

i am still awake but only barely

jergïns, Sunday, 3 February 2008 09:48 (eighteen years ago)

jergins you never got back to us with details on that fight at your work. what was the fight about?

Rubyredd, Sunday, 3 February 2008 09:53 (eighteen years ago)

o yeah. they hired a new lady next door and she got sat down with her training manuals on friday. i guess she spent a couple hours on what should have taken 30 minutes to read. when the boss asked what the holdup was, the lady told her that there were coded CIA messages in the manuals and was she concerned about eavesdropping. the boss told her get out, and then the lady through punches and the boss shoved her out onto the street where we saw her come out, disheveled, asking for cops.

it ended up being sad more than anything else because who knows if she'll get any mental health treatment beyond three hots and a cot. at the time though it was high exciting drama. none of us like the boss next door so we were rooting for her to get cuffed and frogmarched. does that seem mean? she's not a nice person.

through the ordeal customers and dancers walking by were comically quizzical. lol @ this high-class instition with a half-dozen cops and a lady in handcuffs standing around with the red and blue lights.

jergïns, Sunday, 3 February 2008 10:02 (eighteen years ago)

wow that's BIZARRE. nothing that exciting ever happens where i work!

not exactly a good reaction on the boss' part - telling the woman to leave immediately. she could have gone about it a better way.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 3 February 2008 10:11 (eighteen years ago)

Sara R-C, Sunday, 3 February 2008 18:33 (eighteen years ago)

I am going ICE SKATING this afternoon with my family. Hopefully I will not fall and break my neck.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 3 February 2008 18:33 (eighteen years ago)

at a pond or a rink?

remy bean, Sunday, 3 February 2008 18:35 (eighteen years ago)

At an indoor rink. I prefer to skate in a controlled environment (i.e. at least there is no wind).

If you never hear back from me, I probably fell into the wall or something.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 3 February 2008 19:06 (eighteen years ago)

trying to psych myself up for big essay-writing day BUMP

Rubyredd, Sunday, 3 February 2008 21:17 (eighteen years ago)

i think sara fell into the wall

John Justen, Sunday, 3 February 2008 22:26 (eighteen years ago)

NOPE

Sara R-C, Sunday, 3 February 2008 23:40 (eighteen years ago)

But thanks for your concern.

I think I want to waste all my Sunday afternoons ice skating from now on.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 3 February 2008 23:41 (eighteen years ago)

I probably can't ice skate ;__;

W4LTER, Monday, 4 February 2008 00:44 (eighteen years ago)

i am, to the best of my knowledge, unable to ice skate

John Justen, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:01 (eighteen years ago)

i was timid on ice.

estela, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:05 (eighteen years ago)

i have always wanted to wear ice skates at a roller rink

remy bean, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:06 (eighteen years ago)

and visa-versa

remy bean, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:06 (eighteen years ago)

(my front yard growing up was a frequently-frozen pond)

remy bean, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:07 (eighteen years ago)

John, you live in Minnesota; that is ridiculous. (You were a deprived child!)

Also, there's no doubt in my mind that both of you could easily learn. Alex, who is my super-cautious kid, learned; so can you.

There are plenty of places to ice skate in the Cities, John. Go try it.

remy, you could try it!

estela - it just takes practice...

Sara R-C, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:09 (eighteen years ago)

Personally, I am always disppointed to realize how difficult figure skating must be. If I can skate, why CAN'T I learn to do jumps and turns? (answer: much more likely to break bones doing the latter)

Sara R-C, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:10 (eighteen years ago)

i saw a mother once spend an hour patiently coaxing her scared child onto the ice, reassuring her that it was okay, that there was nothing to be afraid of, then the mother suddenly fell and split her face open.

estela, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:13 (eighteen years ago)

Well, no wonder you're timid! Maybe I'm lucky; even when I've fallen, I haven't gotten hurt.

Both kids started out with those weird things that look like the walkers that old people use. By the end of it, Alex was skating independently; J. kept going back to it.

Sara R-C, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:16 (eighteen years ago)

By contrast, my downhill skiing experience was fun, but the final time I went, I nearly hit a fence. Feeling out of control going down a hill and then almost hitting a fence was not fun. I have not tried that again, and that was probably 20 years ago.

Sara R-C, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:17 (eighteen years ago)

my eight-year-old sister actually flew through a safety fence and ended up in a tree, where a ski instructor had to rescue her with a pair of ladders

remy bean, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:22 (eighteen years ago)

I have never skiied.

W4LTER, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:27 (eighteen years ago)

remy... wow. I'm not regretting my Not Skiing decision here!

W4LTER, you obviously need to go try some dangerous winter sports. I recommend immediately visiting Minnesota for these purposes.

Sara R-C, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:29 (eighteen years ago)

i've only skiied once and i was a duffer.

also water-skiing: once, timid, duffer.

estela, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:31 (eighteen years ago)

I have not water-skiied either! I suck. I have ice skated once or twice, when I was in school. I was baddd.

W4LTER, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:35 (eighteen years ago)

i'm still laughing about 'sorry mate, your forks are fucked'.

estela, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:39 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, water-skiing might be fun, but I could never manage to get UP onto the skis. Maybe I was just worried that I would lose my swim suit top, though.

W4lter, report immediately to Minnesota for remedial ice skating lessons. You and Alex can figure it out together.

Sara R-C, Monday, 4 February 2008 01:53 (eighteen years ago)

lol it would be totally awesome if the Giants offense decided they had something they'd like to contribute to the Superbowl. >.<

jessie monster, Monday, 4 February 2008 02:07 (eighteen years ago)

Aww, I wish I was watching that ;_;.

W4LTER, Monday, 4 February 2008 02:08 (eighteen years ago)

I wish I was watching PUPPY BOWL.
