Tal Berkowitz - Vaccine advocate (DJP), Tuesday, 6 September 2011 15:17 (fourteen years ago)

listening to Screamadelica for the first time in about... 18 years?

I don't hate "Movin' On Up" as much as I used to, but I still hate it.

"Slip Inside This House" is still awesome tho

Tal Berkowitz - Vaccine advocate (DJP), Thursday, 8 September 2011 15:16 (fourteen years ago)

i am going to mention for the 500th time in my life that there are various tracks from this album in the early 90s cindy crawford workout video
pretty sure the warm up was "movin on up" but not sure iirc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSbEkn9b93k

i drive a wood paneled station dragon (La Lechera), Thursday, 8 September 2011 15:23 (fourteen years ago)

hahaha that is amazing

trying to imagine Cindy sweating it out to "Higher Than The Sun"

Tal Berkowitz - Vaccine advocate (DJP), Thursday, 8 September 2011 15:26 (fourteen years ago)

btw I made it 4 songs into Screamadelica before skipping it altogether

np: Dummy, which is just awesome

Tal Berkowitz - Vaccine advocate (DJP), Thursday, 8 September 2011 15:28 (fourteen years ago)

she does
well, she did at least
i remember thinking that i knew something that most viewers/users of that workout video didn't know, and it gave me a deeper appreciation for radu's challenging (painful) workout
amazon reviews show that i was probably accurate

original was 1992 i think?

MUSICAL CHOICE is not the usual instrumental used in most videos; her choice is similar to her other video. Credits of musical selections are listed at the end, most songs performed by Primal Scream, Seal contributes "Crazy", "Ice" by Daniel Lanois, "State of Shock" Revenge and "Dis Moi Dis Moi" by Mitsou. It's unique and refreshing.

WAHT wau

Tal Berkowitz - Vaccine advocate (DJP), Thursday, 8 September 2011 15:32 (fourteen years ago)

i am not sure i get primal scream most of the time

Did math, .8181818181 (jjjusten), Thursday, 8 September 2011 16:03 (fourteen years ago)

really the only songs of theirs I can deal with are "Loaded" and "Slip Inside This House"

although I think maybe I also liked "Swastika Eyes"?

http://open.spotify.com/track/4YLNn4UXFxQ8MpkhKfJA1O <-- yeah I dig this

Tal Berkowitz - Vaccine advocate (DJP), Thursday, 8 September 2011 16:05 (fourteen years ago)

"slip" is an elevators song, so that's why it's good
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwSA0Tckwbk

i drive a wood paneled station dragon (La Lechera), Thursday, 8 September 2011 16:06 (fourteen years ago)

ha I think I knew that at one point

Tal Berkowitz - Vaccine advocate (DJP), Thursday, 8 September 2011 16:07 (fourteen years ago)

wait primal scream covered 13th floor elevators

Did math, .8181818181 (jjjusten), Thursday, 8 September 2011 16:08 (fourteen years ago)

how did i always see the name of that song and never make the connection before

Did math, .8181818181 (jjjusten), Thursday, 8 September 2011 16:08 (fourteen years ago)

btw I am working my way through this:

http://open.spotify.com/user/miketd/playlist/6OrR2ntGSoosucm2GFjKBU

I am not nearly as into Pulp as I was in 1997/1998, kind of to my surprise

Tal Berkowitz - Vaccine advocate (DJP), Thursday, 8 September 2011 16:09 (fourteen years ago)

hahaha i am sorta into pulp for the first time in my life starting about oh a year ago? bought that brit box basically to take myself to reeducation camp for all the stuff i refused to listen to when it was current

Did math, .8181818181 (jjjusten), Thursday, 8 September 2011 16:10 (fourteen years ago)

and by "into pulp" i guess i mean "i have finally heard common people and enjoy it"

Did math, .8181818181 (jjjusten), Thursday, 8 September 2011 16:11 (fourteen years ago)

<3 13th floor e's for all time

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Thursday, 8 September 2011 16:13 (fourteen years ago)

ha I did something similar around 2000 with the Napster explosion, and even then there were bands I really should have been totally up on years earlier whose catalogs I only really started EXPLORING like, 3-4 years ago (example: zomg Siouxsie and the Banshees have albums besides Peepshow, Tinderbox, Hyaena and Superstition??? WHO KNEW oh wait, everybody knew that)

Tal Berkowitz - Vaccine advocate (DJP), Thursday, 8 September 2011 16:13 (fourteen years ago)

oh btw "Common People" is still great, it's just a lot of the other songs on Different Class are kind of drippy and limp

kind of like how on This Is Hardcore half the songs are awesome dark seduction pieces and half the songs are Jarvis wanking into a microphone

Tal Berkowitz - Vaccine advocate (DJP), Thursday, 8 September 2011 16:16 (fourteen years ago)

early signs are pointing to me finding Gomez completely pointless

Tal Berkowitz - Vaccine advocate (DJP), Thursday, 8 September 2011 18:50 (fourteen years ago)

ATTN JJJUSTEN

in case you'd completely written them off, these are the tracks worth listening to off the most recent Prodigy album which overall is much much better than it should be:

"Take Me To The Hospital":

"Warrior's Dance":

no offense to people who enjoy it but that shift the hyphen in the artist - album title thread makes me wanna go all strongo mod on it

Did math, .8181818181 (jjjusten), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 16:59 (fourteen years ago)

oh I glanced at that for like a nanosecond and then backed away

using google news results to indicate relative popularity does not work when only one of the people involved has recently had nude photos leaked to the internet

Scream, Fistula, Scream! (jjjusten), Thursday, 15 September 2011 18:25 (fourteen years ago)

It's more Frizzle Fry than Pork Soda, although not as weird.

It does have this on it, though:

sick yr finger up his butt (DJP), Thursday, 15 September 2011 18:26 (fourteen years ago)

sick yr finger up his butt (DJP), Thursday, 15 September 2011 18:34 (fourteen years ago)

i have found the female vocal tone that most exemplifies all that is wrong with the way people sing these days and it comes out of the mouth of the otherwise somewhat pleasant zooey deschannell
