that sucks, remy. it's a horrible feeling to think you can't come home to your family, i know what that's like. the breathing thing with panic attacks really does help, and it's good to be able to figure out ways to manage them that are non-medical. for me, getting out and taking a walk really helps as well.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 27 January 2008 23:56 (eighteen years ago)

For me it was the slow breathing thing that helped, but it was still hard to relax enough to sleep. So, so frustrating and awful.

Sara R-C, Monday, 28 January 2008 04:43 (eighteen years ago)

Shithouse, Remy.

Your troubles remind me -- I recently found out this guy who I've really disliked (fairly openly - and for several reasons)for a long time got kicked out of home when he was 18 by his super well-off parents. They, apparently, just told him they didn't want a bar of him anymore and to make his own way. It made me feel really bad :(

W4LTER, Monday, 28 January 2008 05:50 (eighteen years ago)

W4LTER, Monday, 28 January 2008 09:12 (eighteen years ago)

i had my fingers crossed when i submitted my post.

estela, Monday, 28 January 2008 09:13 (eighteen years ago)

Good morning, I am going back to sleep before I look at that youtube link bump

Sara R-C, Monday, 28 January 2008 14:24 (eighteen years ago)

tom, i work for the guy that produced that show. his next project is set in a great ape rehabilitation refuge.

remy bean, Monday, 28 January 2008 17:44 (eighteen years ago)

tell him your site moderator said to can it and make some spinoffs of walking w/ monsters. diictodon in particular deserves its own show

TOMBOT, Monday, 28 January 2008 17:59 (eighteen years ago)

I finally watched the clip and I'm so glad I did not do so before I tried sleeping. EW!

Sara R-C, Monday, 28 January 2008 18:45 (eighteen years ago)

note to self: do not watch that clip

On a related note, I have had a link to 2 girls, 1 cup sitting in my inbox since Thanksgiving and I still have yet to watch it. GO WILLPOWER!

HI DERE, Monday, 28 January 2008 18:48 (eighteen years ago)

Aw, you could totally handle it, deX. It's just kinda gross. It reminds me of why I basically fled from the Olaf entomology prof when he tried to get me to sign up for his class, though. Just NO.

Sara R-C, Monday, 28 January 2008 18:57 (eighteen years ago)

I'm also hopelessly behind on the linkspank stuff. And it's sad, because whenever I go there I end up laughing.

Sara R-C, Monday, 28 January 2008 18:58 (eighteen years ago)

so I decided to take a really awesome-sounding film class.

...I have to watch Ringu at the end of the semester. ;_;

jessie monster, Monday, 28 January 2008 18:59 (eighteen years ago)

Aw, you could totally handle it, deX. It's just kinda gross.

I think the real question is "Can Sara handle '2 girls, 1 cup'?" I'm thinking... NO.

xp: If "Ringu" is better than "The Ring" like everyone says, this will be awesome. I loved "The Ring" (mostly because it was scary without being outrageously gruesome).

HI DERE, Monday, 28 January 2008 19:01 (eighteen years ago)

clearly you have not heard of my intense fear of both those movies.

jessie monster, Monday, 28 January 2008 19:06 (eighteen years ago)

I cried.

jessie monster, Monday, 28 January 2008 19:06 (eighteen years ago)

I don't know what "2 girls, 1 cup" is but it sounds more like your kinda thing than mine, deX.

jessie, I'm afraid to see The Ring, much less Ringu. And I have basically read all the spoilers for The Ring!

I am a huge chicken.

Sara R-C, Monday, 28 January 2008 19:13 (eighteen years ago)

Maybe it will be better in the context of a class?

Sara R-C, Monday, 28 January 2008 19:13 (eighteen years ago)

there is no context for "2 girls, 1 cup" except 'things that you wish you hadn't seen'

remy bean, Monday, 28 January 2008 19:14 (eighteen years ago)

Yay I still haven't seen it! Go me!

Sara R-C, Monday, 28 January 2008 19:16 (eighteen years ago)

(Am I a bad person for half-hoping Sara would google 2g1c before posting and getting completely ambushed by it?)

HI DERE, Monday, 28 January 2008 19:17 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, and sadly for you I have more sense than that.

Sara R-C, Monday, 28 January 2008 19:19 (eighteen years ago)

If only because I know who I'm dealing with here.

Sara R-C, Monday, 28 January 2008 19:19 (eighteen years ago)

;_;

HI DERE, Monday, 28 January 2008 19:44 (eighteen years ago)

Dude, I meant that as a compliment!

Sara R-C, Monday, 28 January 2008 19:53 (eighteen years ago)

I have seen all the ringu movies. the original is still the creepiest.

El Tomboto, Monday, 28 January 2008 19:53 (eighteen years ago)

but none of them give me seriously bad vibes because I don't even know where I could find a VCR anymore

El Tomboto, Monday, 28 January 2008 19:55 (eighteen years ago)

I have one! I use it to transfer old videotapes to DVD and traumatize people with them. Also, to tape cartoons for the kids sometimes.

Sara R-C, Monday, 28 January 2008 19:57 (eighteen years ago)

back from weekend away and amazed title still lives bump

stet, Monday, 28 January 2008 19:58 (eighteen years ago)

I don't know what "2 girls, 1 cup" is but it sounds more like your kinda thing than mine, deX.

TOTALLY OTM

John Justen, Monday, 28 January 2008 19:59 (eighteen years ago)

good morning itr-ers.

i kept hearing about this 2grls 1 cup thing awhile ago, without actually seeing a description of it anywhere. then my two male flatmates asked me if i'd seen it, and insisted that i watch it, without explanation. so i did. wow. sara, it's fucking gross and awful, although it didn't make me actually gag (search youtube for viewer reactions - HILARIOUS).

i'm with jessie on 'the ring': i hate horror movies, but i perversely sat through that one. the bit where naomi watts' character finds the girl at the bottom of that well, it seemed like there was going to be a 'happy' ending... then there was the actual ending, which distressed me a great deal. i really can't stomach that shit.

Rubyredd, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:03 (eighteen years ago)

now, that HI DERE, now there was a poster that could really get behind 2 girls 1 cup xpost

John Justen, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:03 (eighteen years ago)

I have watched enough horror movies that very little really bothers me, but ringu/ring seems to be a tough one for a lot of people.

John Justen, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:05 (eighteen years ago)

Hmmm, not much makes me actually GAG, but your description sounds alarming, Rubyredd.

I almost never watch horror movies anymore. I kind of miss them, but at the same time it's like my tolerance is super low now.

Maybe I should watch Ringu in Japanese without translation/subtitles; I would only understand a few words...

Sara R-C, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:08 (eighteen years ago)

staggering girls in dirty robes whose hair completely obscures their face are, in fact, completely terrifying

El Tomboto, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:09 (eighteen years ago)

You just described my daughter, Tom. I wake up to exactly that every morning!

Sara R-C, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:11 (eighteen years ago)

you life won't be any more enriched for having watched 2girls 1cup. HI DERE, otoh, seems like he might quite enjoy it...

Rubyredd, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:13 (eighteen years ago)

I have watched enough horror movies that very little really bothers me

see I fall in that category too, is the thing.

the way tombot puts it makes me wonder if my fear has something to do with the fact that I didn't cut my hair between age 5 and 11.

jessie monster, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:14 (eighteen years ago)

the nail going through the fingernail - that was one thing i really couldn't handle in 'the ring'.

Rubyredd, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:14 (eighteen years ago)

See I don't even remember that part of "The Ring".

HI DERE, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:24 (eighteen years ago)

the part where her uncle or whoever clubs her over the back of the head and sends her tipping into the well, though, is actually more slapstick than anything

El Tomboto, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:27 (eighteen years ago)

stutter motion towards dude in apartment post fake-ending - that part was pretty fucking well done.

John Justen, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:30 (eighteen years ago)

You just described my daughter, Tom. I wake up to exactly that every morning!

I scrolled through this thread v.v. quickly and thought for a horrifying moment that this was somehow in relation to 2g1c.

HI DERE, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:31 (eighteen years ago)

actually, is the ring the only US adapt of a foreign horror film that doesn't suck?

xpost hahahahaomg bad bad dan

John Justen, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:31 (eighteen years ago)

See, now I'm never going to look.

Sara R-C, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:33 (eighteen years ago)

Probably for the best, I am enjoying life for the most part.

HI DERE, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:35 (eighteen years ago)

You are at a safer distance than John or FB, but still, it's best to err on the side of caution.

Sara R-C, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:38 (eighteen years ago)
