so anyway here i am in halifax in a produce section when i saw a bunch of them. i had a little orgasm. that night i went over to a friend's house for dinner and brought the mangosteens along. usually you can just rip the peel in half - but these were some fucked up unripe or whatever mangsteens w/real hard peels. after dinner abt 6 glasses of wine deep i slipped while trying to cut one.

it wasnt so bad tho - and the emergency room took no time at all - which i guess is completely lucky.

okay you asked for it, but this shit is seriously boring:

i work for 3cco shoes, which is a danish-owned company. this dude comes in and asks me about the location of the company, then starts spouting on about how that's cool, he's into supporting european industry (oh those poor poor european countries) and it's such a shame that china is taking over the whole market (wake up you fuck head - it's american and european companies licensing out their brand name to asian production facilities). firstly: why the fuck shouldn't chinese/asians make money? i understand if you feel like not supporting sweatshops, that's cool, but i find most people are actually just racist.

ANYWAY, i kept my mouth shut about the location of our production facilities till he specifically asked, because i could see what was coming. eventually he asks, i explain we have production facilities in portugal, slovakia, indonesia and china, and then he sniggers and starts ranting about how OF COURSE that's where they're made blah blah blah...

so i give my usual spiel: yes our shoes are manufactured in asia, but unlike 98% of of shoe companies (incl small boutiques) 3cco actually owns its production facilities and doesn't license its brand name. and also the chinese factory is incredibly high tech.

but dude refuses to actually listen to what i'm saying and keeps making rude comments. the ironic thing is that the same people who complain about stuff being made in china are the same people who complain about the price of everything: HELLO WAKE UP IF YOU WANT TO BUY LOCALLY MADE BE PREPARED TO PAY A FUCKLOAD MORE BECAUSE YOU DEMAND BETTER PAY CONDITIONS.

and don't get me started on the bitch who completely humiliated me in front of a table full of people at the restaurant last night.

I think everyone who has worked in retail has had hateful customers. And they are so predictably stupid and rude. I'm sorry you had that happen today!

I went from retail to boring desk job and it was so much better. It was weird: I was making more money and I actually had benefits, but my job was a lot easier.

i think when school finishes in a couple of weeks, i might look for some boring data entry work to tide me over till i leave the country. i make shit money at both my jobs, and i know for a fact i could earn better money temping. i just haven't been able to because of the weird hours i've had for school.
