someone actually yelled "fag" out their car window at me tonight, it was the first time in years. tbh i was riding a girls schwinn with blinking lights. and wearing my g00dwi11 uniform. but still!

and oh yeah: a few days after we moved in i was unloading a card table and chairs from my trunk. as i'm going around to open the trunk an old dude (looking v much like a sloppier dr. jakoby fyi) said hi as he was passing, only he didn't pass, and stopped dead and just stared a while. it took me forever to get the table/chairs out cuz i had a painting in one arm (idk why i didn't put it down), and i'm mucking with them for forever and he goes "well, have a good afternoon!", and i'm like "yeah you too!", but he just keeps standing there, staring at me. didn't go away until after i finally unloaded and closed the trunk and locked the car doors. kinda innocuous i guess but somehow really unsettling at the moment.

so, is there a curse here you guys aren't telling me about? we've had a small string of bad luck* punctuated by sort of a call-is-coming-from-inside-your-house moment last night. a few days after moving in KG's car has a $600 break down. no sooner than it's fixed, my car breaks down, so i've been biking to work all this week. (and, if we don't get it fixed/figure out reliable transportation, commuting to school=no go). my car's capacity to accelerate cuts in and out at its whim, which last night meant a pretty harrowing drive to the autofixit place**. then, we're walking home down sibley and KG receives a text, from herself, of an icon of a bicycle. yeah good joke, universe!!! this town is indeed strange and mysterious. also kind of a dick.

i love this thread but have nothing to contribute, generally, not being a resident/reformed HSTNGSr, but just wanted to say that i had this recently & it sucks and is as infuriating as bureaucratic errors get, so feeling for you here

yeah what's frustrating is that i didn't quit, just transferred locations, so it should have just been sent to my current location. but instead showed up at the old location, ten was sent to my prior address, an action that was sat on for a time...ultimately i should have just filled out the direct deposit paperwork a long long time ago and avoided all of this so

Also have you checked the paper for used cars? You might get lucky.

it was only a $30 charge for one overdraft and i guess i'm just saying fuckit cuz i got other things to worry about (i'm now back in the positive btw after getting my deposit back in full from the last place).

been rummaging through craigslist for cars but ultimately waiting to see what the auto place says about the state of my current car before i go whole hog in search for a new one. will prob nab a paper from the gas station next to work today though, good idea.

given my non commute my car is going to last FOREVER

i drive literally 30-40 miles a week and the car has idk 70K on it? i started doing the math and now that i carried the two the answer appears to in fact be forever.

Yeah you can see from the stats on my old car (which we bought new) that I averaged about 9k miles/year on it, and that includes multiple road trips to NYC, DC, Philly, Pittsburgh, Akron and Cincy. We could probably drive it for another 10 years easily but lol I'm almost 40.
