Sara, how much water would a cup of tea displace? Also what causes the water retention capabilities of the electrolyte replacement fluids? The potassium? The sodium citrate?

Hmmmm, I wish I knew the answers to those questions, but I don't even have a book list for my first term of nursing school yet. (I may be slightly annoyed by this.)

But hey, if your tea is decaffeinated, it shouldn't displace much water at all (... since tea is mostly water). So switch to decaf if you're worried, is what I'm saying.

Wait, wouldn't sodium be a more likely suspect in causing water retention than, say, potassium? Low sodium diet plus diuretics is often the treatment for hypertension, so...
