estela, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 07:26 (eighteen years ago)

I hate ellipses people so much... about half of everybody I went to high school with, when they got college, they started using them instead of periods or exclamation points... I'm like, wtf... whatever... I guess it doesn't matter

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 08:11 (eighteen years ago)

(I mean they may have before they got to college but when we were in HS it was not necessary to communicate with your friends via writing on a keyboard)

HEAD BASHUM

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 08:12 (eighteen years ago)

oh man i LOVE ellipses. and hyphens. and semi-colons. i think it might have been henry james' wickedly awesome use of the first two in 'the turn of the screw' that made me fall in love.

i've had a surprisingly productive day - did a shitload of work on my essay and i may even hand it in on time!! wonder of wonders!! miracle of miracles!!

today is the first day in a very long time (like, a year) that i haven't felt like i'm a complete retard. i actually understood all this stuff i was reading about postmodernism.

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 08:54 (eighteen years ago)

many hours later bump

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 17:35 (eighteen years ago)

also - it sounds like things are going well, Rubyredd! Awesome!

PS I love semi-colons and parentheses.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 17:56 (eighteen years ago)

There is a famous ILE thread that states my position on semi-colons in a very clear manner.

HI DERE, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 18:47 (eighteen years ago)

I desperately hope that the conversation has not turned to colostomies.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 18:56 (eighteen years ago)

Taking Sides: Pasties vs Pasties

HI DERE, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 19:01 (eighteen years ago)

Dan, I have now skimmed that thread and must INSIST that you come home immediately so that we can get you drunk.

On booze, not semicolons or crazy made up curse words (although the latter things are, of course, welcome as well).

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 19:09 (eighteen years ago)

people are dropping like flies, i hope i'm not the typhoid mary of itr.

estela, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 06:18 (eighteen years ago)

Nah, I'm still refusing to get sick; I'm sure YOU didn't infect my daughter with the cold/flu of doom, estela.

I'd better go sleep a bunch of hours. I like to sleep a lot in order to trick the viruses into thinking I'm dead and not worth bothering with.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 06:40 (eighteen years ago)

I don't see nuthin' wrong.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 18:01 (eighteen years ago)

Sara, how much water would a cup of tea displace? Also what causes the water retention capabilities of the electrolyte replacement fluids? The potassium? The sodium citrate?

Huwa Hu, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 19:20 (eighteen years ago)

Hmmmm, I wish I knew the answers to those questions, but I don't even have a book list for my first term of nursing school yet. (I may be slightly annoyed by this.)

But hey, if your tea is decaffeinated, it shouldn't displace much water at all (... since tea is mostly water). So switch to decaf if you're worried, is what I'm saying.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 19:50 (eighteen years ago)

Wait, wouldn't sodium be a more likely suspect in causing water retention than, say, potassium? Low sodium diet plus diuretics is often the treatment for hypertension, so...

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 19:56 (eighteen years ago)

Thankig you

Huwa Hu, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 20:27 (eighteen years ago)

Yr welcome...?

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 20:41 (eighteen years ago)

Time to pick up the kids from school and then spend the next hour or so thawing out.
