lxy, Saturday, 5 January 2008 18:50 (eighteen years ago)

Are you questioning my patriotism?

John Justen, Saturday, 5 January 2008 18:57 (eighteen years ago)

oh heavens no. seeking advice. i was going to go on to ask WHAT are y'all hollerin'? cuz i am unfamiliar with the ritual, you see, and i want to do it right.

lxy, Saturday, 5 January 2008 19:02 (eighteen years ago)

I generally holler the names of things I see.

GOOD JOB

John Justen, Saturday, 5 January 2008 19:28 (eighteen years ago)

I'm never any good at this holiday. All I want ever want to holler is swear words.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 5 January 2008 19:28 (eighteen years ago)

Wait that makes you aweseome at this holiday, wtf

HI DERE, Saturday, 5 January 2008 20:12 (eighteen years ago)

It is the KIDS thing again. They are always like, "Mommy, you shouldnt' say that..."

A. is not going to correct me, but last week I was swearing about something and he said, "well, I'm never going to lose you in a dark cave, dear."

Sara R-C, Saturday, 5 January 2008 20:14 (eighteen years ago)

Otherwise I do rather enjoy the swearing, but I'm sure you knew that.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 5 January 2008 20:14 (eighteen years ago)

oh, if hollering swear words is okay, then i don't need to practice at all. i'm going outside now to begin the celebration!

lxy, Saturday, 5 January 2008 20:17 (eighteen years ago)

It's too cold out here to go OUT and do it, and yet the weather is the perfect motivation for swearing.

It's a conundrum.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 5 January 2008 20:18 (eighteen years ago)

maybe you can holler loud enough indoors for it to be heard outdoors?

lxy, Saturday, 5 January 2008 20:21 (eighteen years ago)

Actually, I don't doubt that I can!

Sara R-C, Saturday, 5 January 2008 20:23 (eighteen years ago)

3 hour later bump

Sara R-C, Saturday, 5 January 2008 23:24 (eighteen years ago)

i am home from new zealand, and very ill, help me itr.

estela, Sunday, 6 January 2008 00:12 (eighteen years ago)

VITAMIN C. LOTS OF IT.

jessie monster, Sunday, 6 January 2008 00:26 (eighteen years ago)

Infinitely better advice than I was going to offer. Do that.

John Justen, Sunday, 6 January 2008 00:34 (eighteen years ago)

WATER/hydrate.

Avoid diuretics (i.e. alcohol, caffeine)

Sara R-C, Sunday, 6 January 2008 00:36 (eighteen years ago)

If you're vomiting a lot, try to get something with electrolytes down (Pedialyte, or maybe Gatorade I suppose)

Sara R-C, Sunday, 6 January 2008 00:37 (eighteen years ago)

Get John's advice for cheering lolz, but don't follow it

Sara R-C, Sunday, 6 January 2008 00:37 (eighteen years ago)

also estela, I hope you feel better...

Sara R-C, Sunday, 6 January 2008 00:38 (eighteen years ago)

thanks all. it's more of an awful cold/headache thing that gastric, though i am a bit nauseous. i always 'avoid alcohol' due to being a giant lush but i have to drink some coffee or the headache will get worse. two days before xmas i discovered i have a painless tooth abscess from a failed root canal and have been taking antibiotics for that so it wouldn't blow up while i was away and they have probably screwed up my immune system. also i burned my arm on the stove on new year's day and it's still very red and sore. all i need to be utterly tragic is a big bandage wrapped around my head and a deep scratch on my face.

estela, Sunday, 6 January 2008 00:47 (eighteen years ago)

omg how awful! I hope that all gets better. I am deathly afraid of dental problems, so that sounds REALLY bad to me.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 6 January 2008 00:49 (eighteen years ago)

So if you're having caffeinated coffee, double up on those other non-diuretic liquids. (Nothing like having to make 10,000 trips to the bathroom when you're sick.)

Also: get lots of rest if you can. A solid 12 hours of sleep maybe...

Sara R-C, Sunday, 6 January 2008 00:50 (eighteen years ago)

thanks sara

estela, Sunday, 6 January 2008 00:56 (eighteen years ago)

You're welcome; I hope you are sleeping peacefully RIGHT NOW!

Sara R-C, Sunday, 6 January 2008 05:00 (eighteen years ago)

HOLY FUCK I'm pretty happy because 2 of my olds's thoroughbreds won this weekend -- a BIG rarity. Also i bet on one of them. Couple of hundys up :):)

Also::Hoping Estela is doing better.

W4LTER, Sunday, 6 January 2008 09:45 (eighteen years ago)

Congrats, W4lter!

Sara R-C, Sunday, 6 January 2008 17:34 (eighteen years ago)

About 5 minutes ago, at my house:

Me: Hey, Julia, what are you drinking?

Julia: Water. (pause) Just like old times.

Sara R-C, Monday, 7 January 2008 01:59 (eighteen years ago)

(This probably only seems funny if you know that Julia is FIVE)

Sara R-C, Monday, 7 January 2008 02:01 (eighteen years ago)

commiseration bump

stet, Monday, 7 January 2008 03:53 (eighteen years ago)

Sunday night and once again I have accomplished ZERO bump

Sara R-C, Monday, 7 January 2008 04:42 (eighteen years ago)

thank you for commiserations sara, walter and stet.

i am feeling quite a lot better today, and my arm seems to be healing though i think there will be some scarring, and on wednesday my tooth will get another root canal so i should be just fine after that. my teeth look nice but they are tricksters.

estela, Monday, 7 January 2008 10:28 (eighteen years ago)

This is true of all teeth. ;_;

HI DERE, Monday, 7 January 2008 13:13 (eighteen years ago)

See, now I have fallen ill. ITR HAS THE PLAGUE!

John Justen, Monday, 7 January 2008 16:38 (eighteen years ago)

I have a mild cold, but calling it the plague would be pretty extreme.

The tooth thing gets me; I fear and despise dentists. So afraid of having a root canal! Hell, I hate to even get my teeth cleaned. The SCRAPING! I have to go at the end of the month. ;_;

Sara R-C, Monday, 7 January 2008 16:47 (eighteen years ago)

Of course everyone tells me that "root canals aren't really that bad," so maybe I'm just freaked about nothing. estela, I am counting on you to tell the truth here.

Sara R-C, Monday, 7 January 2008 16:48 (eighteen years ago)

omg working at a university during intersession is sooooooo boring bump.

I just got back from picking up a few things at St. Kate's and of course I walk in and check messages: my uniform tops are in. Back to St. Paul! (But not today, because I should probably get the kids from school and stuff. Still AAAAARGH.)

Sara R-C, Monday, 7 January 2008 20:34 (eighteen years ago)

I hope everyone feels better by tomorrow!

Sara R-C, Monday, 7 January 2008 22:47 (eighteen years ago)
