SARA YOUR PARENTS OWN A LIQUOR STORE ??? !!!

this board just continues to awe and amaze me.

lxy, Thursday, 27 December 2007 06:22 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, living in Scotland must all be worth it to have an awesome accent.

Yes, my parents have two liquor stores (or maybe three - my brother runs one of them and is partial or full owner; this is where family business stuff gets hazy). I would say that it is a solid business to have. Also, I've worked in a variety of retail and my two favorites: books and booze.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 27 December 2007 06:35 (eighteen years ago)

Before someone else mocks me (AHEM, JOHN), I should also explain that I rarely drank as a teenager. Crazy teenage rebellion of NOT drinking!

This is apparently so well remembered that, upon seeing me in a bar after not seeing me for 14 years, FB's first comment to me was, "you're drinking colored water, aren't you?" (hahaha, NO, it was a for realz alcoholic beverage)

Sara R-C, Thursday, 27 December 2007 06:39 (eighteen years ago)

Also, I was not averse to other people drinking: witness my efforts to help John make Jell-o shots during his first term at college. I left and he immediately screwed them up (he can tell that part of the story), but still.

a good morning to you all. i am very cold.

lxy, Thursday, 27 December 2007 16:58 (eighteen years ago)

I have spent the last couple of hours trying to get the word "whiskeymilks" out of my head.

Also, cannot WAIT until holiday break is over. Way too much family time.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 27 December 2007 18:58 (eighteen years ago)

yesterday at a post-holiday gathering, i was served bud light in a can and wheat thins with easy cheese on them

later that evening i'm pretty sure i saw dave mustaine at a chinese restaurant. he passed me by the fishtank

Lingbert, Thursday, 27 December 2007 19:26 (eighteen years ago)

jergïns, Thursday, 27 December 2007 20:00 (eighteen years ago)

lingbert, your day yesterday was much more exciting than mine

I cannot get warm and so I'm going to go walk 5.5 miles on my treadmill again and then take the hottest shower I can stand.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 27 December 2007 20:12 (eighteen years ago)

Whiskeymilks could be good with the right whiskey and the right milk.

HI DERE, Thursday, 27 December 2007 21:54 (eighteen years ago)

from now on i'm calling lbert lil pinky. all in the name of mollification.

(HI DERE, i don't believe you.)

lxy, Thursday, 27 December 2007 21:54 (eighteen years ago)

El Tomboto, Thursday, 27 December 2007 21:54 (eighteen years ago)

alternatively, appalachian hillbillies and also goats

El Tomboto, Thursday, 27 December 2007 21:55 (eighteen years ago)

Well, imagine the whiskey is "gin" and the milk is "tonic".

HI DERE, Thursday, 27 December 2007 22:08 (eighteen years ago)

I'm imagining that, but it's JUST NOT HELPING

Sara R-C, Thursday, 27 December 2007 22:19 (eighteen years ago)

Watching Simpsons episodes on the treadmill, though, A++++

Sara R-C, Thursday, 27 December 2007 22:19 (eighteen years ago)

Now I will email my mother and ask if she can watch my kids on Sunday. I have to get ready for rejection! (Not that she likely has anything else to do; she just isn't too into the grandmother thing.)

Sara R-C, Thursday, 27 December 2007 22:52 (eighteen years ago)

!!hi dudes!!

W4LTER, Thursday, 27 December 2007 23:11 (eighteen years ago)

W4LTER WHAT UP?

John Justen, Thursday, 27 December 2007 23:27 (eighteen years ago)

He's probably left; gone out to get a suntan or something. ;_;

Sara R-C, Thursday, 27 December 2007 23:36 (eighteen years ago)

Going home to a GIN AND TONIC bump

stet, Thursday, 27 December 2007 23:42 (eighteen years ago)

Enjoy!

I am going to spend another dull evening at home. The upside is that I don't have to go out in the cold weather. Also, I have booze here and movies, so I won't be totally bored.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 27 December 2007 23:46 (eighteen years ago)

I'm bumping this thread and you cannot stop me!

Sara R-C, Friday, 28 December 2007 03:00 (eighteen years ago)

SEE - DONE!

Sara R-C, Friday, 28 December 2007 03:00 (eighteen years ago)

what about now?

stet, Friday, 28 December 2007 03:54 (eighteen years ago)

Still alive!

Sara R-C, Friday, 28 December 2007 04:09 (eighteen years ago)

But yeah, that is the trouble: you have to keep bumping the thread. Luckily it fits into my Do Nothing For Days On End lifestyle.

Sara R-C, Friday, 28 December 2007 04:10 (eighteen years ago)

Final bump before I get into bed and try to thaw myself out.

Good night, ITR

Sara R-C, Friday, 28 December 2007 07:13 (eighteen years ago)

refusing urge to roll out the sockpuppet army to clusterfuck the various ILE athiest etc. threads bump

John Justen, Friday, 28 December 2007 07:48 (eighteen years ago)

refusing/resisting drunk whatever

John Justen, Friday, 28 December 2007 07:49 (eighteen years ago)

on a lighter note, we forced my friend shaun to drink a dog and pony onstage tonight and the shock caused a evident negative effect on his ability to play guitar.

John Justen, Friday, 28 December 2007 07:52 (eighteen years ago)

DANGER DANGER DANGER bump

John Justen, Friday, 28 December 2007 15:32 (eighteen years ago)

Aw, your poor friend! I hope he recovers from humoring you.

Sara R-C, Friday, 28 December 2007 15:59 (eighteen years ago)

(also - DANGER?)

Sara R-C, Friday, 28 December 2007 15:59 (eighteen years ago)

DANGER of titular reversion due to lack of participation

John Justen, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:18 (eighteen years ago)

Well, I blame myself, but even I leave my computer once in a while, if only to sleep.

Sara R-C, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:43 (eighteen years ago)

jerk

John Justen, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:44 (eighteen years ago)

think of the children!

John Justen, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:45 (eighteen years ago)

These mornings where you somehow appear to have gotten up and posted before me are v. alarming. But it's true: I will lie around in bed until something forces me out of it. And it usually IS children.

Sara R-C, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:46 (eighteen years ago)

So John, is your inventory done or are you just slacking today?

Also, is it snowing again in places other than Northfield? Because I think it could stop now.

Sara R-C, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:47 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, the guilt I experience for giving John a hard time.

I am going out this afternoon to take the kids sledding at a friend's house. I will thus be unable to bump this thread all afternoon; I am counting on the rest of you.

But I'll bump it right before I leave the house, just for you all.

Sara R-C, Friday, 28 December 2007 18:13 (eighteen years ago)

Well, plus, I don't really like being outside that much, so it will probably be my last stalling method.

Sara R-C, Friday, 28 December 2007 18:13 (eighteen years ago)
