You should have seen the horizontal snow in Maple Grove. Even so, my sister and I are HARDKORE and through the magic of 4WD, completed the Xmas shopping.

suzy, Monday, 24 December 2007 04:19 (eighteen years ago)

good night, fellow ITR denizens.

lxy, Monday, 24 December 2007 09:02 (eighteen years ago)

good morning.

off to christmas eve untold hours of insane psycho-retail hell bump

John Justen, Monday, 24 December 2007 15:19 (eighteen years ago)

THREAD TITLE TRUNCATION YET ANOTHER SIGN OF THE DIMINISHING RETURN OF "CHRISTMAS MIRACLES" bump

John Justen, Monday, 24 December 2007 16:36 (eighteen years ago)

I blame myself, since I slept a solid 11 hours last night.

John, good luck with retail hell. Suzy - lol at you and your sister shopping in that yesterday. That IS hardcore.

Sara R-C, Monday, 24 December 2007 17:14 (eighteen years ago)

I wish we had snow bump

stet, Monday, 24 December 2007 18:48 (eighteen years ago)

Looks gorgeous outside today with the snow today; it DOES have multiple downsides, though.

To be honest, I kind of hate weather in general. If I can just stay inside the house, I'm good.

Sara R-C, Monday, 24 December 2007 19:35 (eighteen years ago)

Stet, I would offer to send you some of our snow, but I feel like it might not make it through the postal system very well.

Sara R-C, Monday, 24 December 2007 19:37 (eighteen years ago)

it is likely that i will be uninternetted for 24 hours, plz to keep up the fine bumping tradition good peoples of ITR bump

John Justen, Monday, 24 December 2007 20:02 (eighteen years ago)

I'll try to check in every once in a while. I still have to do all the wrapping for Xmas stockings, so I'll be up late.

John, I hope your uninternettedness is for pleasant reasons, not ones that involve being stuck in snow drifts or, you know, attacked by bears. Enjoy your Christmas; you deserve to have a good break.

Sara R-C, Monday, 24 December 2007 20:23 (eighteen years ago)

3 hours later bump

Sara R-C, Monday, 24 December 2007 23:35 (eighteen years ago)

Have eaten vast amounts, must now consider wrapping bump

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 03:18 (eighteen years ago)

I ATE TWO STEAKS.

jessie monster, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 04:25 (eighteen years ago)

jergïns, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 05:00 (eighteen years ago)

WRAPPING AT LONG LAST FINISHED

TWO steaks?!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 05:36 (eighteen years ago)

YES I WAS HUNGRY.

jessie monster, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 05:44 (eighteen years ago)

i have not finished my christmas present project. poor brother-in-law will have to get an IOU. i am lame lame lame.

lxy, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 06:15 (eighteen years ago)

on the other hand, i am drinking good rum (ron barrilito) and listenting to good musics and hanging out with good jergins so i feel fine about how i negotiate the holidays.

lxy, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 06:18 (eighteen years ago)

I am often a two-ribeye guy when I make them myself
because I make the best steaks on earth

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 06:33 (eighteen years ago)

has I shared the recipe with the good folk or ITR?

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 06:33 (eighteen years ago)

haha "OF" ITR
funnier that way though

anyhow, it is a dry rub:

1 part coarse ground sea salt or kosher salt
1 part coarse ground black pepper
1 part garlic powder
1 part parsley flakes
dash cayenne or chipotle to taste

rub liberally on both sides of yr steaks
let sit for five minutes so the juice mixes with the seasoning on the surface

PLACE ON HOTTEST SURFACE AVAILABLE
TWO MINUTES TOPS EACH SIDE
WHAM!!! SEARED!!! FLIP!!! WHAM!!! SEARED!!! DONE!!!!!!

= beefmagic

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 06:37 (eighteen years ago)

if pan frying you should rub a little less on than when grilling since the typical heavy application I am inclined to use is designed to compensate for some falling off

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 06:38 (eighteen years ago)

also as soon as I flip them I usually turn the heat off to let the rest of the cooking be done by residual heat in the metal and the meat itself; once again this may change depending on the implements

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 06:40 (eighteen years ago)

my steak recipe:

some sugar (is tenderizing)
some salt
A SHIT TON OF GARLIC
coat with olive oil

VOILA.

jessie monster, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 06:55 (eighteen years ago)

Wow, Tom. Clearly you are a man of many talents!

Jessie - also sounds yum.

I should really learn to cook someday.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 06:56 (eighteen years ago)

Why am I still up? UNSURE

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 06:56 (eighteen years ago)

jergïns, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 06:57 (eighteen years ago)

ditto, xpost.

I'm going to fall asleep on the couch watching some fucking Tintin, that's for sure.

jessie monster, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 06:58 (eighteen years ago)

I have added photos to my flickr account, but am too slow to figure out how to post them anywhere else. Eventually I'm hoping my husband will have time to help me figure it out.

It sucks to be computer clueless.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 07:09 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, I'm going to go to sleep now, because I fear that if I do not, tomorrow will not be good.

Gooooood night, ITR. And merry Christmas!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 07:14 (eighteen years ago)

Christmas morning bump

(TIRED!)

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 14:07 (eighteen years ago)

nobody is as tired as me right now. I got like 1.5 hours of sleep!

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 14:20 (eighteen years ago)

cigarette break was a bad idea!
I am so toast

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 14:23 (eighteen years ago)

should've gone with my initial instinct and refused offer of christmas dinner at my coworker's aunt's house after this
I'm going to be a wreck and a half

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 14:24 (eighteen years ago)

HAPPY CHRISTMAS from my desk at work BUMP

(Still, at least I got 6 hrs sleep)

stet, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 17:19 (eighteen years ago)

Hang in there, Tom. Maybe you can nap between courses. Just tell your co-worker's aunt that you suffer from narcolepsy.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 17:34 (eighteen years ago)

I don't think I could pass. I've known a narcoleptic and he never seemed pissed off at having to be conscious most of the time, which I assuredly am right now

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)

Naps are a total killer too. When I'm that tired and take a nap I wake up a day later, bewildered and having to apologise to all/sundry.

stet, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 17:53 (eighteen years ago)

luckily tomorrow I don't have to be back in at work until 2 in the afternoon so I should be able to recover. That doesn't make the next six or seven hours any more forgiving or tolerable though.

what I'm really hating now is that persistent indigestion that you get sometimes when you get up lots earlier than normal. Does this happen to anybody else?

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 17:59 (eighteen years ago)

OH YES IT DOES.

cure: steaks?

John Justen, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 18:07 (eighteen years ago)

i will eat all of these steaks when i get a chance btw and thank you

John Justen, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 18:07 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, not enough sleep = entire body hates me. I don't think STEAKS would be the cure, but I will be forced to confess that I have not yet tried this remedy.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 19:26 (eighteen years ago)

I might try El Recipe-o later. Am feeling so tired that I fear I'll do that thing where I can't get to sleep, later.

stet, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 19:48 (eighteen years ago)

^^^ worst situation EVER

Get some rest, stet.

I am at my parent's house and we are waiting for dinner to be ready. My Dad, husband, and brother-in-law are playing "golf" on a Wii. Everyone else is amused.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 19:52 (eighteen years ago)

At my sister's for the brunch. Lysa my cousin is about to dance to whatever I can find on YouTube.

suzy, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 20:39 (eighteen years ago)

At work, still. Everyone has brought in great chunks of their Christmas lunch, so the entire conference table is groaning in pies, cakes & co.

stet, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 20:40 (eighteen years ago)

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh bump

John Justen, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 21:50 (eighteen years ago)

lucky

John Justen, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 21:50 (eighteen years ago)

Mmmmm, pies and cakes.

I might eat again. Someday.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 22:35 (eighteen years ago)
