John Justen, Friday, 21 December 2007 05:49 (eighteen years ago)

John, if you could just help me with these Christmas cards, that would even better and I'd probably even think kind thoughts of you for an hour or so.

hello jergiins!

Sara R-C, Friday, 21 December 2007 06:33 (eighteen years ago)

sara why are you and me and john always up to stupid hours?

I mean I'm kind of up to extra crazy hours because I post from the coast but otoh I also work swing shift so there's that offset

El Tomboto, Friday, 21 December 2007 06:40 (eighteen years ago)

Well, I can't explain it for John, but for myself it's several things: 1. I am kind of a night person, 2. I do have serious insomnia issues, and 3. my kids are asleep at night and I tend to finally get some of the stuff done during the day that I can't do when they are up. My daughter is 5 and she loves to "help" (i.e. hinder) housework - and schoolwork is always best done at night, when I can spend more than two seconds without my train of thought being interrupted.

I have no idea if that makes sense or not! But I'm sure John - and Dan and FB - will vouch for me having not been a morning person, even as far back as high school.

Sara R-C, Friday, 21 December 2007 06:46 (eighteen years ago)

It does make me kind of happy that other people are up at these hours, btw. My mother still gives me a hard time about how I should get up early, etc., but it just doesn't work that well for me.

Sara R-C, Friday, 21 December 2007 06:47 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, final emails written, so I'm going to try some of this crazy sleep stuff that I hear so much about. Tomorrow is another day. Full of writing Xmas cards and hoping to GOD that I am correctly addressing them.

Good night Tom, John, Jergiins, estela, Dan, and anyone else lurking about.

Sara R-C, Friday, 21 December 2007 07:02 (eighteen years ago)

G'night!

El Tomboto, Friday, 21 December 2007 07:32 (eighteen years ago)

stet, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:03 (eighteen years ago)

I am up to the "Rs" in my Xmas card writing. There's nothing more disheartening than getting this far and starting on relatives...

BUT "hello" bump anyway!

Sara R-C, Friday, 21 December 2007 21:05 (eighteen years ago)

hi lxy, hi stet, hi sara.

estela, Friday, 21 December 2007 22:15 (eighteen years ago)

estela, Saturday, 22 December 2007 00:31 (eighteen years ago)

i absolutely love it when people cancel arrangements on me.

estela, Saturday, 22 December 2007 00:33 (eighteen years ago)

I had never heard of that song! (I know this is shocking to everyone.)

I think it depends on the people and the arrangements, but tonight I don't mind! I am almost to the end of my Xmas cards and I need to put together some cookie dough and then I am pretty much done with my tasks for the day. It only took me, like, 12 hours...

Sara R-C, Saturday, 22 December 2007 00:41 (eighteen years ago)

trapped at work because alternator just diedin shitty car/it is too dark outside to drive without lights/was supposed to finish christmas shopping tonight FUCK YOU WORLD GRARRARRRRRRGHGRRR bump.

John Justen, Saturday, 22 December 2007 00:43 (eighteen years ago)

oh that sucks, john.

i suffer terribly from a condition called 'hostess regret' where you invite people over for dinner then wish they weren't coming. i have acute attacks of it when guests turn up early, those unpunctual fuckers can get fucked. but if they are late, i am fine with it.

estela, Saturday, 22 December 2007 00:50 (eighteen years ago)

John - I'm really sorry. I hope you escape soon. (I'm sure Caledonia will come to your rescue!)

estela - yes, that was happening to me today, but mostly it was due to the fact that I haven't wrapped any gifts yet... and my table is still covered with Xmas card detritus.

But yeah, I had a thing last January and a couple of people (a divorcing couple) turned up early and honestly, I saw red for a couple of minutes. If the invitation says a time, showing up a half hour early is NEVER helpful, people!

Sara R-C, Saturday, 22 December 2007 01:15 (eighteen years ago)

And yeah, late is fine (but not too late; these same people have shown up at parties after everyone else has gone home... hello, some people's children have BEDTIMES!).

Sara R-C, Saturday, 22 December 2007 01:16 (eighteen years ago)

Hmmm, I think I have a lot of bitterness to get off of my chest tonight!

Sara R-C, Saturday, 22 December 2007 01:16 (eighteen years ago)

And I should not be so bitchy since John is in direr straights than I am.

GUILT

Sara R-C, Saturday, 22 December 2007 01:20 (eighteen years ago)

don't be ashamed, hostess regret is an illness not a moral weakness.

estela, Saturday, 22 December 2007 01:43 (eighteen years ago)

Hmmmm, maybe I will self-medicate in order to get better.

I am not sure of the Rx, but hey, I'm sure something we have in the house will make me feel better AND make the cookie dough come together more easily!

Sara R-C, Saturday, 22 December 2007 01:57 (eighteen years ago)

what kind of cookies are you making?

estela, Saturday, 22 December 2007 02:30 (eighteen years ago)

The dreaded Christmas roll-out sugar cookies. Tomorrow we will have my best friend, her husband and her kids over for all-afternoon cookie baking and decorating. The kids love this annual project, while I spend the entire time feeling crowded and wondering exactly how high my blood pressure is getting.

I'm not so fond of having other people in the kitchen with me; it's the only place I get claustrophobic. And KIDS! OMG. But the point is for them to have fun, so...

Sara R-C, Saturday, 22 December 2007 02:42 (eighteen years ago)

Still sounding bitchy! Sorry. This year I will consider including boozy drinks for the adults (or at least me). Perhaps this will improve my Grinchy attitude.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 22 December 2007 02:43 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, PS I made some awesome chocolate cookies the other day, all by myself! I know if I underbaked them or what, but they are nice and soft and yummy!

Sara R-C, Saturday, 22 December 2007 02:44 (eighteen years ago)

i want some cookies bump

estela, Saturday, 22 December 2007 04:32 (eighteen years ago)

You should have some! You should move to Minnesota, so that I could easily foist some off on you.

You could also help with cookie-baking chaos with kids if you wanted. (All that is required: mix drinks for me and help yourself while you're at it)

Sara R-C, Saturday, 22 December 2007 04:47 (eighteen years ago)

according to the atlas i am very very far from your cookies;_;

but otherwise i would love to help, i am a pretty good baker and i bet your children are great fun.

estela, Saturday, 22 December 2007 06:33 (eighteen years ago)

It's too bad you are so far; you'd totally be welcome! We just have to figure out how to manipulate space and time.

My kids can be great fun... I'll let you know if they ARE.

Good night, all. :)

Sara R-C, Saturday, 22 December 2007 07:14 (eighteen years ago)

Good morning all; John - uh, glad you got home okay, have some Advil and a lot of water, okay?

Sara R-C, Saturday, 22 December 2007 16:17 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, here's my plan: eat some breakfast, get on treadmill, guests/cookie-baking plus booze all afternoon, and then tonight I'm totally lying on the couch watching Dexter.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 22 December 2007 16:56 (eighteen years ago)

hi everybody. my plan for the day is to alternate drinking coffee and water, to alternate working on an xmas present and playing super mario galaxy, to alternate doing housework and smoking.

later i will run some errands.

and then we are having a late-night homemade perogies party with the jergins, seniors!

lxy, Saturday, 22 December 2007 18:59 (eighteen years ago)
