It often sucks moose balls to live here but have you thought about Boston...?

HI DERE, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:09 (eighteen years ago)

Walker has loads of live arts stuff going on always. Guthrie is amazing for theatre and occasional other stuff. Music is world-class. But we are all about the architecture for our arts venues now:

suzy, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:16 (eighteen years ago)

awesome!

i've never really considered boston bc people constantly bitch about it!

tehresa, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:26 (eighteen years ago)

It always makes me sad to hear about how much people don't like Boston, because I have always wanted to go there so much. (Always = since I was maybe 17... ugh, that means I've been wanting to go for almost 20 years!)

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:36 (eighteen years ago)

Boston has its good points. I think the issues could be summed up as "bait and switch"; if you go in knowing it's a relatively small, provincial city that has a veneer of cosmopolitanism due to its location, it's a lot less disappointing.

HI DERE, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:48 (eighteen years ago)

I have been duly warned now!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:58 (eighteen years ago)

hey guys, talk more!

tehresa, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 04:55 (eighteen years ago)

HELLO!

wilter, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 04:57 (eighteen years ago)

Hi! How are you?

I went out for the evening and now I am home and full of sushi. :)

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 05:00 (eighteen years ago)

I'm very well! I am at work and full of instant coffee :(

wilter, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 05:02 (eighteen years ago)

i just had a 2-hr chat with my cousin!

jealous of your sushi, sara!

tehresa, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 05:04 (eighteen years ago)

xp Well, at least you'll stay awake then...

I am considering folding laundry. Midnight is the Procrastination Hour here in Northfield.

tehresa - the sushi was pretty good; I went out with friends to a new place in a suburb of the Twin Cities. 2 hour chats with cousins are also enjoyable - at least if your cousin is cool!

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 05:06 (eighteen years ago)

yes, we used to live in rochester and buffalo and would see each other all the time and be silly but now we are in nyc and miami so once a year is the most we generally get to hang. so an every few months mega-call is always fun!

ooh i must do laundry tomorrow, but i've been scared to step outside into the saunaawful heat.

tehresa, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 05:27 (eighteen years ago)

I do laundry every day, basically. BUT I don't have to go outside to do it, so I usually it is just easy. (And I love to do laundry, I just wish I didn't put it off until the middle of every night.)

Cousin sounds cool! I have one (1) cousin that I really enjoy; she lives in St. Paul and I envy her life totally.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 05:33 (eighteen years ago)

morning mericans. i appear to be awake rather early this morn. should i take advantage of the situation and go into work early and thus be able to leave before 5? my job suuuuucks and i would, really, rather not go at all.

i just awoke from a dream where i was walking on the beach with my youngest cousin and he got washed away by a massive wave. pretty terrifying.

Upt0eleven, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 05:42 (eighteen years ago)

yes i super envy this cousin bc she lives in an island across from miami in a brand new luxury condo with her bf who makes $$$ so she doesn't have to work (she used to work but got sick of it so he said she could live off him and go back to school).

i keep putting off laundry bc i have to lug it to laundromat which is not so desirable in this weather.

morning, nick! yes, go in early! get out and enjoy summer evening!

tehresa, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 05:51 (eighteen years ago)

Are we talking up a few hours early? Because this time can be utilized for a long walk followed by a lovingly prepared delicious breakfast.

Seriously, pretending to be a morning person when the opportunity presents itself can be sooooooooo gratifying.

en i see kay, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 05:52 (eighteen years ago)

Twill only be an hour early but enough to make a difference to my day. soooo much easier to get going when blue skies and sunshine are beckoning. thy will be done.

Upt0eleven, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:00 (eighteen years ago)

aw hi i <3 you all but now i am going to bed xox luv lxy

lxy, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:01 (eighteen years ago)

true, whenever i wake up early and think i'm going to get off to a great start i just end up stretching out coffee/me-time and end up running late!

xpost

tehresa, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:02 (eighteen years ago)

aw, night lxy!

tehresa, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:02 (eighteen years ago)

oooh, walk and breakfast does sound great, although I would never manage to pull it off myself.

xp my cousin is a twentysomething who works in publishing and wants to be a writer. Also, she has moved from crazy conservative (most of our family) to sane liberal - so I have someone to hang with at some family occasions.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:03 (eighteen years ago)

good night lxy!

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:03 (eighteen years ago)

ps you should all come here all the time okay now for real good night

lxy, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:07 (eighteen years ago)

even deeznuts?

Lingbert, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:08 (eighteen years ago)

aw lxy is so cuet!

tehresa, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:09 (eighteen years ago)

Sara, the secret to the morning walk/breakfast, I think, is to never consider it a goal, because then you never will do it. But if you should happen to get to bed early or have one of those weird nights where sleep is much more effective than usual and find yourself up a couple hours early, then be all "oh, well, I think I'll do that, then."

I might be reppin' the walking because right now, walking is my (2nd) most effective procrastination technique. I'm probably going to end up failing classes and never getting my degree, but I'll have some bitchin' strong legs and hours upon hours of sex advice/public radio/sociology lecture podcast knowledge under my belt.

en i see kay, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:15 (eighteen years ago)

hmmmmmm, I will try to consider that next time I get teh insomnia. Usually I wake up because my 5 year old insists on it. (Uh, couldn't be because I'm up so late a night, huh...)

Walking is A+, however, and I try to get in 3 5.5 mile walks a week. Usually I do this on my treadmill, but I could do it outside if the weather ever seemed appropriate. (My husband usually is out running in the morning, so it's hard for me to get to do it - someone must be here for the kids!)

Also, I would listen to that podcast.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:19 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, I'm going to be lame and go to sleep now. If only so I can be semi conscious when J comes in and wakes me up.

Good night all. May you have great sleep and better breakfasts!

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:20 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, were it but one. I do have this lecture series about the Sociology of Sexuality that's pretty good stuff. I mean, 200-level sociology class-type stuff that's a bit dry, but pretty good listening just the same.

Did you know that in almost all cultures except modern ones, there was no gay/straight demarcation, only penetrator/penetrated? It's true!

G'night!

en i see kay, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:24 (eighteen years ago)

night, sara!

tehresa, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:26 (eighteen years ago)

yo dudes I am almost done "remastering" ye old college demo trax (thx to nu-gf for making this possible) are you all stoked for the madness of providing silly titles for all these tombot tunes from 97-99

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:34 (eighteen years ago)

lolcollege demo?! sweet!

tehresa, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:35 (eighteen years ago)

there's like 32 of them

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:38 (eighteen years ago)

I am kind of wavering between "lol shitty mixing and arrangement skilz of young tombot" and "you sad old fucking bastard, you dumped your muse for a steady job"

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:40 (eighteen years ago)

Stoked.

Englande has made it into the rotation of a couple dance parties around my parts with great success.

en i see kay, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:41 (eighteen years ago)

oh dude the Englande mix was done on little computer speakers!!! so bad!!!

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:47 (eighteen years ago)

see this is what being able to afford good equipment has done to my attitude

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:47 (eighteen years ago)

$30K more per annum and a house and I'll turn right into fucking libcrypt

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:48 (eighteen years ago)

Well, shit's being played in a living room from a little iPod dock thinger to drunken 18-23 year olds at 3am. Not a lot of serious production talk going on.

It's mostly just so my best bud and I can have a nice T✧✧@K✧✧.E✧✧ laff anyway.

en i see kay, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 06:51 (eighteen years ago)

listen I've got better things to complain about now like the fact that the .zip of all me tracks still clocks in at nearly 400MB. wtf box set

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 07:02 (eighteen years ago)

perhaps I should consider ripping these at something less than 256 VBR for the purposes of transit

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 07:03 (eighteen years ago)

I'm very well! I am at work and full of instant coffee :(

Had to give the stuff up, was causing serious *woah* moments. Heart going mental, sweats and finally nauseau.

One of my best friends ever lives in Seattle. He wants me to come visit and I should but it costs much €€€€ and tbh I would much rather use said €€€€ and bugger off to North Africa/Middle East for a month.

Oh, were it but one. I do have this lecture series about the Sociology of Sexuality that's pretty good stuff. I mean, 200-level sociology class-type stuff that's a bit dry, but pretty good listening just the same.

This sounds interesting if it's not just a load of academic wank (sorry sorry)

]]Did you know that in almost all cultures except modern ones, there was no gay/straight demarcation, only penetrator/penetrated? It's true!

OMG they had it right in Team America. That film was so wise:

We're dicks! We're reckless, arrogant, stupid dicks. And the Film Actors Guild are pussies. And Kim Jong Il is an asshole. Pussies don't like dicks, because pussies get fucked by dicks. But dicks also fuck assholes: assholes that just want to shit on everything. Pussies may think they can deal with assholes their way. But the only thing that can fuck an asshole is a dick, with some balls. The problem with dicks is: they fuck too much or fuck when it isn't appropriate - and it takes a pussy to show them that. But sometimes, pussies can be so full of shit that they become assholes themselves... because pussies are an inch and half away from ass holes. I don't know much about this crazy, crazy world, but I do know this: If you don't let us fuck this asshole, we're going to have our dicks and pussies all covered in shit!

I am disappointed after the new Indiana Jones film. It was not very good :(

hyggeligt, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 08:39 (eighteen years ago)

I am just going to try this. I may have tricked the internet police.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 14:01 (eighteen years ago)

haha goodbye productivity

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 14:03 (eighteen years ago)

little known fact: posting to ilx actually powers a huge combine which keeps the world turning on its axis.

Rubyredd, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 14:05 (eighteen years ago)

Good morning all. Why do my children wake up a hundred times a night with different complaints? ("I'm hot." "I need to peeeee." "Can I have some water?")

Also HELLO FB!!! RR is so, so right.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 14:12 (eighteen years ago)

Is HI DERE banned from ilx at work now?

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 14:34 (eighteen years ago)

yep.

When I see the headline "promising young ginger killed by roving lutheran death squad", now I will know what happened.

BLACK BEYONCE, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 14:43 (eighteen years ago)

nah he can still access it using firefox, i think.
