The thought of the loss of this thread is also making me v. v. sad, and I probably need to sleep more because of it.

Poor JJ won't know what hit him. Will we at least leave something behind in the tip jar.

Dan, go wild with "tip jar"

hyggeligt, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 14:18 (eighteen years ago)

I ALWAYS DO

wait, no

HI DERE, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 14:20 (eighteen years ago)

Anyway, I'm going to lie down and sleep some more myself, so if this thread is locked before I wake back up, you know - <3 to you all because you are all teh awesomeness. And I hope to see you on another ILX-crushing thread, because if I don't, the weeping will never cease.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 14:32 (eighteen years ago)

yer! let's stick it to the man. the ilx man. he ain't keeping us down no mo'.

Upt0eleven, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 14:38 (eighteen years ago)

i just had the lovliest sub-zero night with my a/c. problem: now i can't bring myself to visit the rest of my apartment. it's like walking into a sauna.

tehresa, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 17:04 (eighteen years ago)

um... guys... i think i have found something that DEMANDS all ITR posters report to ny post haste for group outing/field trip: http://thewhizbang.org/

tehresa, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 17:19 (eighteen years ago)

YES

BLACK BEYONCE, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 17:27 (eighteen years ago)

Influences The Top Sea Shanties of 1712. The Kinks. Dead Kennedys. Ween. Stevie Wonder. New Order. Devo. Coney Island.

Sounds Like Electro-punk with nautical influences, "whimsical" themes, combined live and sequenced drums, and unconvincing "period" dialogue from the mouths of often sinister puppets.

tehresa, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 17:30 (eighteen years ago)

I WANT TO GO ;_;

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 17:48 (eighteen years ago)

i think the locking of the thread should be scheduled concurrent with stet's visit (i hope this is still a go!), and that the rest of you should come here for the event. in other words, get in your cars or book your flights immediately, because that will be... this weekend!

(STET, please let us know if you are still planning to come to SeaWA so we can alert the beer provisioners and turn down the sheets.)

lxy, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 17:58 (eighteen years ago)

lxy does that mean you do not want pirate puppet rock opera?

tehresa, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:06 (eighteen years ago)

i need to make a seattle trip!

can someone find me a job to begin like, june 1, 09?

tehresa, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:07 (eighteen years ago)

If I could, I would hit both Seattle and New York. So sad now.

tehresa, that is a hard date to hit, jobs-wise... it's almost a year away!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:23 (eighteen years ago)

Not that I know of jobs that are not working directly with my husband in computer support. I'm just sayin'.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:23 (eighteen years ago)

oh no, i didn't look at the date of that. and no, sorry, that sounds very awful. (puppets are terrifying.)

you should come here. this weekend. or any weekend. or any week. really.

everybody should come here. seattle welcomes all idiots!

lxy, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:24 (eighteen years ago)

i wanted to move there all through high school so now i am thinking maybe i should look into job market there for when i finish masters...

tehresa, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:25 (eighteen years ago)

ps tehresa re. this weekend's late-night topic: nicely done.

lxy, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:27 (eighteen years ago)

and yes, you should.

be glad you are not moving here THIS june, however because this is the shittiest, ass-suckingest, most all-time worst fucking june ever. jesus christ it's still winter here! (so yeah, not much sympathy for those of you who are "too hot." we're still turning on the heat in the evenings for godsake.)

lxy, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:29 (eighteen years ago)

if by nicely done you mean miserable failure then ok thank you :)

i would love winter. i felt cheated by our winter here. not enough snow.

tehresa, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:30 (eighteen years ago)

lxy arent you jergins girl?

because he will readily tell you that i am an idiot & i would like to move to pacific NW can i move in with you guys

deeznuts, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:33 (eighteen years ago)

tehresa, Minnesota has plenty of snow, if that's what you're looking for in a place....

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:40 (eighteen years ago)

actually i have been told that mpls has an incredible arts community... i.e. there might be jobs for me!

tehresa, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:43 (eighteen years ago)

mpls gave birth to the mats

deeznuts, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:45 (eighteen years ago)

I think this is true (not that I'm in this loop), plus you'd have friends here already, PLUS adequate amounts of snow (usually) and cold (always). CLEARLY the Twin Cities is where you should go.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:45 (eighteen years ago)

basically i will move where i find a good job that will make me happy. i always thought i would stay in new york forever and ever and ever, but now i'm feeling a little more open to other locales, as long as they are major city-like.

tehresa, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:51 (eighteen years ago)

teh, i don't think it was failure in the grand scheme, though, and i like that you got game.

if you want snow, you will feel cheated by our winters, too. not to be discouraging at all, it's very nice here.

i have heard that about mpls too.

lxy, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:51 (eighteen years ago)

xp to dz: no

lxy, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:52 (eighteen years ago)

Mpls/St. Paul is pretty... tiny compared to, say, NYC or even Chicago.

Seattle always sounds totally awesome to me...

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:53 (eighteen years ago)

tbh i've only been there once, but i fell in love with it.

tehresa, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 18:56 (eighteen years ago)

i spent two weeks there a coupla years ago and could have settled but yo' government was all like "no dude, you have to leave". so i left. :(

Upt0eleven, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 19:04 (eighteen years ago)

and i would very much like some devo-esque jolly whizbanging ship action yes please.

Upt0eleven, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 19:05 (eighteen years ago)

portland, OG is better than seattle anyway

seattle is for yuppies like jergins & lxy

deeznuts, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 19:05 (eighteen years ago)

only jergins is a yuppie, lxy is something else

The Reverend, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 19:16 (eighteen years ago)

DONT MAKE START HANDING OUT TIME OUTS ON THE ORIGNAL GOOD TIMES THREAD HERE PEOPLE

BLACK BEYONCE, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 19:36 (eighteen years ago)

guize i am reading the "tap water should be free grrr" / "no it shouldn't grrr" discussion over yonder and am hankering after some of that cel-ray magic juice. a quick google suggests a likely fruitless hunt this side of the pond however:

Results 1 - 10 of about 10,400 for cel-ray. (0.27 seconds) - the web
Results 1 - 10 of about 134 for cel-ray. (0.07 seconds) - pages from the UK

boooooooo

Upt0eleven, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 19:41 (eighteen years ago)

lol sorry bb i am deeply envious of jergs & lxy both

deeznuts, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 19:43 (eighteen years ago)

tehresa, Twin Cities are always banging on about more theatre per capita than anywhere else in America and contemporary art on the international level is v. v. good but not so much with local galleries, which seem frowsy or overearnest amateur if you're used to something more up to date. and if you're on the development hell side of things there, I think the rich people are prob much less assholish than their coastal counterparts.

also look here for tons and tons of fun: http://www.walkerart.org/index.wac

suzy, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 19:57 (eighteen years ago)

hey you guys want to see my friend shill for Apple?

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=alCNqvwo1zLY

HI DERE, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:05 (eighteen years ago)

ja have heard awesome things about walker. i'm more in performing arts, specifically music, than gallery stuff. also more in the marketing end of things than devo. though they do tend to work together a lot.

tehresa, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:06 (eighteen years ago)

It often sucks moose balls to live here but have you thought about Boston...?

HI DERE, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:09 (eighteen years ago)

Walker has loads of live arts stuff going on always. Guthrie is amazing for theatre and occasional other stuff. Music is world-class. But we are all about the architecture for our arts venues now:

suzy, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:16 (eighteen years ago)

awesome!

i've never really considered boston bc people constantly bitch about it!

tehresa, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:26 (eighteen years ago)

It always makes me sad to hear about how much people don't like Boston, because I have always wanted to go there so much. (Always = since I was maybe 17... ugh, that means I've been wanting to go for almost 20 years!)

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:36 (eighteen years ago)

Boston has its good points. I think the issues could be summed up as "bait and switch"; if you go in knowing it's a relatively small, provincial city that has a veneer of cosmopolitanism due to its location, it's a lot less disappointing.

HI DERE, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:48 (eighteen years ago)

I have been duly warned now!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:58 (eighteen years ago)

hey guys, talk more!

tehresa, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 04:55 (eighteen years ago)

HELLO!

wilter, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 04:57 (eighteen years ago)

Hi! How are you?

I went out for the evening and now I am home and full of sushi. :)

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 05:00 (eighteen years ago)

I'm very well! I am at work and full of instant coffee :(
