Facebook keeps telling me, "The Cure is coming and you could go see them!" - but it just would not be the same without Dan.

Just imagine some girlish screams. At least that's what I'll be doing.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 26 May 2008 14:17 (eighteen years ago)

screaming like a girl, or imagining Dan screaming like a girl?

John Justen, Monday, 26 May 2008 15:06 (eighteen years ago)

either sounds plausible, perhaps likely

John Justen, Monday, 26 May 2008 15:07 (eighteen years ago)

And the baby screams.

I am at work, good peoples. Pity me.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 26 May 2008 15:47 (eighteen years ago)

wow, i thought everybody had graduated by now, and so you wouldn't have to be loitering around there for the day.

i'm going on an mbv binge at the moment, if it's any sort of consolation or vicarious whatever

dell, Monday, 26 May 2008 15:54 (eighteen years ago)

i am working at having people over all afternoon for drinks and barbeques, if that helps at all, ned

John Justen, Monday, 26 May 2008 16:06 (eighteen years ago)

I kinda sympathize. But not.

I do get this Friday off, which is nice, and since today will be very quiet by default, I think I actually get the better end of the deal.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 26 May 2008 16:09 (eighteen years ago)

A. took the day off, which is a Good Thing for me, but I do think holidays at colleges/universities are almost not worth taking because they are so quiet. Better to avoid a frenzied day.

My plan: treadmill, friends over, study. Wash, rinse, repeat...

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 16:59 (eighteen years ago)

hey by the way sara, i do not have your phone number, which i discovered last night when calling people about barbeque. please to call my phone and give it to me.

John Justen, Monday, 26 May 2008 17:22 (eighteen years ago)

I will do so after I finish eating lunch. I just have to spend a few moments figuring out where my address book is, because my cell phone is not charged and the address book is the only place I keep people's numbers anymore.

(Am I the only person who no longer memorizes *any* phone numbers because technology just does everything for me? It's kind of idiotic, but I can't make myself learn numbers anymore.)

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 17:32 (eighteen years ago)

i used to be ace at phone number memorization. i still remember my elementary school friends' phone numbers, but if you asked me any of my current friends' numbers, i would maybe be able to give you area code. this is why i like having a phone that synchs with my computer address book.

tehresa, Monday, 26 May 2008 17:35 (eighteen years ago)

i know absolutely zero percent of nothing when it comes to peoples phone numbers. however, this was largely true before technology made that status quo, so it might just be my own personal brain problem.

John Justen, Monday, 26 May 2008 17:37 (eighteen years ago)

we can't all be rain man.

tehresa, Monday, 26 May 2008 17:38 (eighteen years ago)

Well, now I feel better about myself.

I bet you guys remember your *own* cell phone numbers, though. Not kidding, I emailed it to myself a long time ago so that I could always find it when at home.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 17:41 (eighteen years ago)

hah i changed my number last july (after having the same number for 6 years) and i *think* i know it but every once in a while when i'm asked, i feel like i am just spitting out random numbers and it's all totally wrong.

tehresa, Monday, 26 May 2008 17:43 (eighteen years ago)

cell phones. have ruined the world. except in emergency situations. in that case they are like the magical smurf falling down from azure skies

dell, Monday, 26 May 2008 17:45 (eighteen years ago)

does the smurf's color differ enough from azure that you can see it falling down rather than blending in til you get hit in the head with it?

tehresa, Monday, 26 May 2008 17:46 (eighteen years ago)

I don't love or hate cell phones, but I have to say that I'm glad to have it when I'm driving an hour each way to school, especially when the weather sucks so often. That being said, half the time I don't manage to have the thing charged, so maybe it's a wash.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 17:48 (eighteen years ago)

hmm so i am really not wanting to go to party #1 right now... i thought it started at 2 and i'd show up at like 3:30, but it actually started at 1... and i haven't showered yet or gone to the store to pick up something to take to it... maybe i skip?

tehresa, Monday, 26 May 2008 17:51 (eighteen years ago)

(psst BLACK BEYONCE, did you ever check yr spam box for reg info)

white celine, Monday, 26 May 2008 18:04 (eighteen years ago)

tehresa - you could just go by briefly? That is probably what I would do.

Okay, I've procrastinated long enough. Treadmill time. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 18:35 (eighteen years ago)

btw, I'm really trying to integrate "white celine" and "BLACK BEYONCE" into my mental images of you guys. It would really help if you'd get together and sing a couple of duets, wearing appropriate attire.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 18:36 (eighteen years ago)

my friend txted me and said she was still unclear as to "picnic" plans. maybe i should just cash in my chips.

t, yeah, the smurfs blend in with the sky, truth be told

dell, Monday, 26 May 2008 18:45 (eighteen years ago)

you guys, should i go to this???

Ned Raggett, Monday, 26 May 2008 19:11 (eighteen years ago)

hmm, yeah, the stuff on their myspace site is something else. have you seen them in a live context before?

dell, Monday, 26 May 2008 19:23 (eighteen years ago)

Super important messages:

To HSTNGS people: M3l1ss4 G00dm4n, now on Facebook. And so's her little sister!

To estela: John told me you sent some candy to me via him; thank you so much! That is going to be part of my motivation for finishing up this term - yay candy!!!

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 20:58 (eighteen years ago)

have you seen them in a live context before?

Yup!

Ned Raggett, Monday, 26 May 2008 21:06 (eighteen years ago)

wait how old is M's little sister...?

HI DERE, Monday, 26 May 2008 21:43 (eighteen years ago)

UGH WE ARE OLD

HI DERE, Monday, 26 May 2008 21:44 (eighteen years ago)

She's like a college junior or something! It's terrifying.

I just want to tell her that I am angry at her for not being FIVE anymore.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 22:14 (eighteen years ago)

uh, you guys, i just went out to buy a six-pack of beerses, and some guy grabbed my crotch as i was walking into my building. wtf

like, yeah.

dell, Monday, 26 May 2008 22:43 (eighteen years ago)

also, it is so, so, so beautiful outside today here. wow.

dell, Monday, 26 May 2008 22:49 (eighteen years ago)

That glow you can only get from a crotch-grab.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 26 May 2008 22:58 (eighteen years ago)

It was really weird. I'm used to all manner of panhandlers...but I guess I'm not quite accustomed to people grabbing my crotch after I search my pockets and discover that I have no change or cigarettes to give them.

dell, Monday, 26 May 2008 23:05 (eighteen years ago)

o_0 If some man did that to me I would be tempted to rip his arms out at the shoulder socket. Seriously.

suzy, Monday, 26 May 2008 23:33 (eighteen years ago)

suzy is scary. but right.

http://www.geekgasm.com/images/crotchgrab.jpg

Upt0eleven, Monday, 26 May 2008 23:35 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, again, it was just really, really weird.

anyhow, thanks ned, i'm going to that show tonight.

dell, Monday, 26 May 2008 23:40 (eighteen years ago)

^^^^Please post that img to the UTI thread, Nick. They won't thank you for it but LOL.

I have in the past given the smackdown to sex pests. They don't expect someone much shorter and female to be able to do so, which is kind of half the battle if it becomes necessary.

suzy, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 00:09 (eighteen years ago)

I ain't here for the thanks I am here for the LOLz. Find me the thread and i'll get right on it.

BTW I would pay the total sum of money in my pockets to see a Suzy smackdown of a sex pest.

Upt0eleven, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 00:54 (eighteen years ago)

i think i have the same kind of wiry strength that you do, suzy, people expect me to be frail because i am quite skinny and have a small frame but i am very strong (and quick).

estela, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 01:07 (eighteen years ago)

That explains all the dead bodies. Would you please stop dry-freezing them and shipping them to me that way? They take FOREVER to resoak for roasts.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 01:11 (eighteen years ago)

sara, i hope you like the candy, i originally was going to send it just to you but in the end i sent some to everyone because i knew deep in my heart they would hate vegemite and i wanted to console them.

estela, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 01:12 (eighteen years ago)

who is shipping you dried bodies, ned?

estela, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 01:15 (eighteen years ago)

hello all i leave for NYC at some ungodly early hour tomorrow so plz do not break the internet while im gone until i get back and woot woot and oh god i am going to be tired tomorrow afternoon.

John Justen, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 01:21 (eighteen years ago)

estela, I did not try the Vegemite and am afraid John will offer some to me at this point. But I need consolation for the general grueling-ness of the end of my class, so thank you again!

John - have a FUN & SAFE trip (please note that I have *two* directives there). And thanks for info. and conversation this afternoon.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 01:25 (eighteen years ago)

Sara, you should try the vegemite on toast with LOTS of butter. Put butter on first and only put a teeny bit of the vegemite on. Eat while listening to Men at Work...

suzy, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 01:42 (eighteen years ago)

Also the single most effective retort to sex pests is as follows:

"Put it on the mantelpiece, I'll smoke it later."

suzy, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 01:44 (eighteen years ago)

once in a great crush at a bar i was crotch groped horribly by someone standing behind me so without turning around i drove my elbow as hard as i could into the nearest solar plexus which was a little risky but i knew i had got the right person when i heard a terrible despairing 'oof' of pain followed by no recriminations at all, i was pleased with my own briskness.

estela, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 01:51 (eighteen years ago)

home from just the 1 party, and i am tired! i can't imagine if i'd gone to both!
