lxy, Sunday, 25 May 2008 22:51 (eighteen years ago)

stet we'll surely get some people together when you're here: me and lxy and lingbert and jaq and remy at the very least. and we can call it a fap

jergïns, Sunday, 25 May 2008 22:57 (eighteen years ago)

computer question:

i've been using AVG free for virus protection on my computer, but it's about to go non-free in the next week. any recommendations for something else free i can use?

Rubyredd, Sunday, 25 May 2008 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

excellent!

xpost -- AVG is staying free, there's a tiny tiny link in the advert that lets you download it.

stet, Sunday, 25 May 2008 23:12 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, so our finals review was okay, although I always come away awed by how much more deeply I think everyone else understands the material. We ordered Thai food out, which was nice.

Please tell me where the money tree is so that I can visit Seattle and FAP with you all, too!

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 03:40 (eighteen years ago)

http://www.filehippo.com/download_avg_antivirus/

mookieproof, Monday, 26 May 2008 05:01 (eighteen years ago)

thanks mookie! i couldn't find the link that stet was referring to.

Rubyredd, Monday, 26 May 2008 05:26 (eighteen years ago)

sara: it always feels like everyone is smarter, but this is just your brain trying to trick you. you actually know a mega ton more than you realise.

Rubyredd, Monday, 26 May 2008 05:27 (eighteen years ago)

Thanks for that thought, RR. I feel like they just "get" stuff at a deeper level than I do. I shouldn't complain, because my grade was an A (at least until we started on the crazy long papers from hell). But... yeah, I don't know, maybe it's just perfectionism again.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 05:48 (eighteen years ago)

I am feeling SO restless tonight. I have no desire to study, clean the house, read a book, or do anything else. But I don't feel like going to bed, either.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 05:49 (eighteen years ago)

me too! i've felt kind of edgy all day - i've got heaps of shit to get done but i don't want to do any of it. i want to leave the house, but there's no one i feel like seeing and nothing i feel like doing.

Rubyredd, Monday, 26 May 2008 05:56 (eighteen years ago)

i have felt v edgy too, work deadlines coming up. But luckily my boss just handed my shittest job to someone else bcuz he had nothing to do. ^__^

wilter, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:00 (eighteen years ago)

Hmmmm, maybe it is a late spring thing? (Restlessness?!)

wilter, glad your boss is helping rather than hindering you :)

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:06 (eighteen years ago)

it is autumn here, you are forgetting we are in a diff hemisphere where apparently the water spins the other way!

Rubyredd, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:07 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, I know that in my head, but I can't make my BRANE wrap around the REALITY of it!

The first thing you should do when you get to the US is to see which way water goes down the drain.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:08 (eighteen years ago)

So I was just looking at a thread Dan started on ILE about the kitty wigs thing or whatever, and I was skimming it, and he cites this website:

http://www.subversivecrossstitch.com/

My SIL gave me the book with all those patterns in it for my bday, and if I had time (which I don't) I was totally going to do one for John and K's new house. I had the hearts with the F-bomb in them all picked out for them, though.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:11 (eighteen years ago)

i think i'm mostly edgy cuz jordan's away, and i'm missing him. i know this will sound totally lame/gay/mushy/overly-dependent/whatevs but i'm always much calmer and relaxed when he's around, since i'm by nature a fairly anxious-y kind of person and i have all this stuff going on at the moment, and when i'm around him i just feel... better. like i have more of a handle of things.

Rubyredd, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:13 (eighteen years ago)

xpost OMG SO COOL please put me on your list to receive one of these one day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that would basically be the awesomest gift ever.

Rubyredd, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:14 (eighteen years ago)

I am so fundamentally unsurprised that you already knew about that.

HI DERE, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:16 (eighteen years ago)

RR, no - I don't sleep well if A. isn't around. He's just a way calmer person than I am. Also, yes, if I ever have time to go back to cross-stitching, I will totally make one of those for you!

hahaha, Dan - you know me way too well. That book was the highlight of my birthday this year; totally brilliant gift.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:22 (eighteen years ago)

This is reminding me that my in-laws are going to visit soon. So, do I take down the magnet that says "I gave myself to Jesus but now he never calls" or do I leave it up?

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:22 (eighteen years ago)

how would they react to it? and how much do you care? seems like something i'd want to keep up to quietly remind them that i am my own person.

tehresa, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:29 (eighteen years ago)

tza OTM

but i guess it depends on what kind of ppl they are, and whether it will only create unnecessary tension.

Rubyredd, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:30 (eighteen years ago)

MIL = might be amused. Then again, she was once offended by the band name "Jesus Jones." FIL = 50/50 chance he won't get it at all.

I'll probably just forget and leave it up.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:30 (eighteen years ago)

put glitter and LEDs on it

HI DERE, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:31 (eighteen years ago)

haha that is most likely what i would end up doing!
xpost

tehresa, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:32 (eighteen years ago)

hahaha, I love them to death, but I always feel like I am being a teenage REBEL or something when I put on the radio or turn on the tv. They have no television and they only listen to classical/jazz/NPR type stuff. It's kind of like they live in the pre-television, pre-pop culture era.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:32 (eighteen years ago)

HI DERE they played the cure like 30 times at the bar i was just visiting, and we thought of you.

tehresa, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:32 (eighteen years ago)

LOL Dan, you crack me up.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:32 (eighteen years ago)

Facebook keeps telling me, "The Cure is coming and you could go see them!" - but it just would not be the same without Dan.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:33 (eighteen years ago)

marketing professional question: do they show you dan's profile next to the ad? i've had really interesting facebook ad targeting where it shows an ad for the ethan coen play and then above it tells me that my friend 4nn4 is a 'fan' of this other theater co... trying to make me link the 2 together and want to go see the play.

tehresa, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:47 (eighteen years ago)

i was looking into their advertising options a while ago and that is actually one of the options though i can't remember what they call it. i'm so fascinated by social media marketing stuff.

tehresa, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:51 (eighteen years ago)

No, they apparently haven't linked Dan to The Cure, lol. I'm not sure how they missed it.

The only Cure concert I've ever been to I went to with Dan. Plus I think he's the biggest Cure fanatic I know. It would just seem wrong to go if he wasn't there!

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:57 (eighteen years ago)

I'm kind of impressed/terrified by Facebook's hooking your friend and the theater thing togeter, though, I have to say.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:58 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, I have got to try to get some sleep; tomorrow I really will have to review these endocrine disorders I keep putting off reading about seriously. (THERE'S a motivation for getting up in the morning...)

Sleep well, ITR. <3

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:59 (eighteen years ago)

i should sleep, too. i have two (2) memorial day shindigs to attend tomorrow!

good luck w/ studying :(

tehresa, Monday, 26 May 2008 07:00 (eighteen years ago)

Oh man I feel so guilty about what I just posted on the accents thread like fifteen minutes ago, despite its TRUTH.

If you'll still have me, I might be in the Pacific Northwest of America by September and would very happily attend any FAP happening in that general region.

en i see kay, Monday, 26 May 2008 07:44 (eighteen years ago)

I got invited to a picnic tomorrow. Maybe I will attend, if I don't feel like I am dying 12 hours from now...

dell, Monday, 26 May 2008 09:13 (eighteen years ago)

None of HSTNGS has that accent unless they're spoofing.

suzy, Monday, 26 May 2008 09:39 (eighteen years ago)

Facebook keeps telling me, "The Cure is coming and you could go see them!" - but it just would not be the same without Dan.

Just imagine some girlish screams. At least that's what I'll be doing.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 26 May 2008 14:17 (eighteen years ago)

screaming like a girl, or imagining Dan screaming like a girl?

John Justen, Monday, 26 May 2008 15:06 (eighteen years ago)

either sounds plausible, perhaps likely

John Justen, Monday, 26 May 2008 15:07 (eighteen years ago)

And the baby screams.

I am at work, good peoples. Pity me.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 26 May 2008 15:47 (eighteen years ago)

wow, i thought everybody had graduated by now, and so you wouldn't have to be loitering around there for the day.

i'm going on an mbv binge at the moment, if it's any sort of consolation or vicarious whatever

dell, Monday, 26 May 2008 15:54 (eighteen years ago)

i am working at having people over all afternoon for drinks and barbeques, if that helps at all, ned

John Justen, Monday, 26 May 2008 16:06 (eighteen years ago)

I kinda sympathize. But not.

I do get this Friday off, which is nice, and since today will be very quiet by default, I think I actually get the better end of the deal.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 26 May 2008 16:09 (eighteen years ago)

A. took the day off, which is a Good Thing for me, but I do think holidays at colleges/universities are almost not worth taking because they are so quiet. Better to avoid a frenzied day.

My plan: treadmill, friends over, study. Wash, rinse, repeat...

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 16:59 (eighteen years ago)

hey by the way sara, i do not have your phone number, which i discovered last night when calling people about barbeque. please to call my phone and give it to me.

John Justen, Monday, 26 May 2008 17:22 (eighteen years ago)

I will do so after I finish eating lunch. I just have to spend a few moments figuring out where my address book is, because my cell phone is not charged and the address book is the only place I keep people's numbers anymore.

(Am I the only person who no longer memorizes *any* phone numbers because technology just does everything for me? It's kind of idiotic, but I can't make myself learn numbers anymore.)
