tehresa, Sunday, 25 May 2008 17:37 (eighteen years ago)

School is so terrifyingly expensive. That extra $1,000 will definitely help you!

Sara R-C, Sunday, 25 May 2008 17:45 (eighteen years ago)

Yay, good news all around.

In other news I actually scored on Freecycle today: gunmetal grey table and matching chairs, they are all gloss painted this colour and they are on my balcony right now. Next stage: lavenderrosemaryparsleychivesthymesage in various pots.

suzy, Sunday, 25 May 2008 18:47 (eighteen years ago)

Ooh sounds lovely!

tehresa, Sunday, 25 May 2008 19:21 (eighteen years ago)

Yay suzy! It sounds like you are having a great weekend. I loooooove lavender in particular.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 25 May 2008 19:30 (eighteen years ago)

Farmer I work for starting next weekend sells potted herbs and has offered me startups AND a bag of the soil they normally grow in because it's a giant pain to buy soil in the middlemost middle of central London. Now I just need, y'know, pots and plant holders. Christ on a bike, I have to go to a garden center. Shudder.

Table and chairs are set up on balcony (my block is totally '50s) and right now on the tabletop is 2x little lanterns with tealights, red flowerpot waiting for some kind of plant, and one of those classic red bug candles. I've been here since December so it's VERY nice to finally be able to sit out there. Also good is that nothing in balcony space ever gets wet.

the awesomest sport of all: basketball

RONG

mookieproof, Sunday, 25 May 2008 20:01 (eighteen years ago)

ned, jordan went to USC, as did his brother, for his undergrad and UC irvine for post grad. so it's a given. we go back to chicago to watch the big game in september with the whole family (oh shit i've forgotten who they're playing).

jergz, how bout this: i will time my eventual seattle visit to coincide with a baseball game and you and me and lxy and lingbert and remy and jaq can all go.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 25 May 2008 20:10 (eighteen years ago)

i am going to accept that proposition on behalf of seattle, ruby.

HURRAY! come to seattle soon!
(or, alternatively: HURRY! come to seattle soon!)

lxy, Sunday, 25 May 2008 20:13 (eighteen years ago)

Sounds so awesome, suzy!

God, Seattle FAP is making me ENVY.

I'm off to go to a study group for the evening in Mpls. If I didn't have to drive home, I think I'd be bringing vast amounts of wine, beer, or liquor to this one... but sadly, I do have to drive back.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 25 May 2008 20:35 (eighteen years ago)

I hope you all have a great afternoon/evening!

Sara R-C, Sunday, 25 May 2008 20:36 (eighteen years ago)

ooh suzy reminds me i need to get something for my window box this summer!

tehresa, Sunday, 25 May 2008 20:38 (eighteen years ago)

arrgghh i have to go to doc this morning. i have a phobia about this.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 25 May 2008 20:39 (eighteen years ago)

'the nurse is sick today so we can't fit you in till next tuesday' - fucking fuck i could have slept in today on my one day off! and now i have to spend another week dreading the visit :(

Rubyredd, Sunday, 25 May 2008 21:15 (eighteen years ago)

I would like to attend Seattle FAP. :-/

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 25 May 2008 21:28 (eighteen years ago)

As for Jordan's unfortunately misbegotten choice of an undergrad location younger years, well well.

(Chicago in September for the big game? I thought that was more Notre Dame in November, but the vagaries of Trojan rivalries are intentional mysteries -- to my mind, there's them, and then there's everyone else on the side of righteousness.)

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 25 May 2008 21:30 (eighteen years ago)

And before this gets out of hand on my part, I freely note that other good peoples like Jordan, like remy and get bent, are recent USC grad program folks so all my mockery towards the Trojans is of the jovial sort. Even though, of course, I am right.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 25 May 2008 21:36 (eighteen years ago)

let's hope your posts slip into the mollifylingbooverdrive void before jordan gets back from his camping trip, or There Will Be Blood.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 25 May 2008 21:38 (eighteen years ago)

i've been having fun sending youtube links of the all blacks doing the haka to various americans such as jordan's bro.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 25 May 2008 21:39 (eighteen years ago)

i would like to attend seattle fap, too. money tree?

tehresa, Sunday, 25 May 2008 21:39 (eighteen years ago)

jergïns, Sunday, 25 May 2008 22:05 (eighteen years ago)

stet, Sunday, 25 May 2008 22:06 (eighteen years ago)

SEATTLE FAP PEOPLE. THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING ALL ALONG.

(xpost -- hi jergins)

(xxpost -- hi stet: it is an extended affair at this point; the visitors are coming one at a time.)

lxy, Sunday, 25 May 2008 22:07 (eighteen years ago)

Rubyredd, Sunday, 25 May 2008 22:08 (eighteen years ago)

jergïns, Sunday, 25 May 2008 22:57 (eighteen years ago)

computer question:

i've been using AVG free for virus protection on my computer, but it's about to go non-free in the next week. any recommendations for something else free i can use?

Rubyredd, Sunday, 25 May 2008 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

excellent!

xpost -- AVG is staying free, there's a tiny tiny link in the advert that lets you download it.

stet, Sunday, 25 May 2008 23:12 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, so our finals review was okay, although I always come away awed by how much more deeply I think everyone else understands the material. We ordered Thai food out, which was nice.

Please tell me where the money tree is so that I can visit Seattle and FAP with you all, too!

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 03:40 (eighteen years ago)

mookieproof, Monday, 26 May 2008 05:01 (eighteen years ago)

thanks mookie! i couldn't find the link that stet was referring to.

Rubyredd, Monday, 26 May 2008 05:26 (eighteen years ago)

sara: it always feels like everyone is smarter, but this is just your brain trying to trick you. you actually know a mega ton more than you realise.

Rubyredd, Monday, 26 May 2008 05:27 (eighteen years ago)

Thanks for that thought, RR. I feel like they just "get" stuff at a deeper level than I do. I shouldn't complain, because my grade was an A (at least until we started on the crazy long papers from hell). But... yeah, I don't know, maybe it's just perfectionism again.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 05:48 (eighteen years ago)

I am feeling SO restless tonight. I have no desire to study, clean the house, read a book, or do anything else. But I don't feel like going to bed, either.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 05:49 (eighteen years ago)

me too! i've felt kind of edgy all day - i've got heaps of shit to get done but i don't want to do any of it. i want to leave the house, but there's no one i feel like seeing and nothing i feel like doing.

Rubyredd, Monday, 26 May 2008 05:56 (eighteen years ago)

i have felt v edgy too, work deadlines coming up. But luckily my boss just handed my shittest job to someone else bcuz he had nothing to do. ^__^

wilter, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:00 (eighteen years ago)

Hmmmm, maybe it is a late spring thing? (Restlessness?!)

wilter, glad your boss is helping rather than hindering you :)

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:06 (eighteen years ago)

it is autumn here, you are forgetting we are in a diff hemisphere where apparently the water spins the other way!

Rubyredd, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:07 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, I know that in my head, but I can't make my BRANE wrap around the REALITY of it!

The first thing you should do when you get to the US is to see which way water goes down the drain.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:08 (eighteen years ago)

So I was just looking at a thread Dan started on ILE about the kitty wigs thing or whatever, and I was skimming it, and he cites this website:

http://www.subversivecrossstitch.com/

My SIL gave me the book with all those patterns in it for my bday, and if I had time (which I don't) I was totally going to do one for John and K's new house. I had the hearts with the F-bomb in them all picked out for them, though.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:11 (eighteen years ago)

i think i'm mostly edgy cuz jordan's away, and i'm missing him. i know this will sound totally lame/gay/mushy/overly-dependent/whatevs but i'm always much calmer and relaxed when he's around, since i'm by nature a fairly anxious-y kind of person and i have all this stuff going on at the moment, and when i'm around him i just feel... better. like i have more of a handle of things.

Rubyredd, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:13 (eighteen years ago)

xpost OMG SO COOL please put me on your list to receive one of these one day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that would basically be the awesomest gift ever.

Rubyredd, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:14 (eighteen years ago)

I am so fundamentally unsurprised that you already knew about that.

HI DERE, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:16 (eighteen years ago)

RR, no - I don't sleep well if A. isn't around. He's just a way calmer person than I am. Also, yes, if I ever have time to go back to cross-stitching, I will totally make one of those for you!

hahaha, Dan - you know me way too well. That book was the highlight of my birthday this year; totally brilliant gift.

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:22 (eighteen years ago)

This is reminding me that my in-laws are going to visit soon. So, do I take down the magnet that says "I gave myself to Jesus but now he never calls" or do I leave it up?

Sara R-C, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:22 (eighteen years ago)

how would they react to it? and how much do you care? seems like something i'd want to keep up to quietly remind them that i am my own person.

tehresa, Monday, 26 May 2008 06:29 (eighteen years ago)

tza OTM

but i guess it depends on what kind of ppl they are, and whether it will only create unnecessary tension.
