Sara R-C, Thursday, 22 May 2008 22:41 (eighteen years ago)

Ask her to tell you some of her stories from her summer job at the free clinic sometime.

HI DERE, Thursday, 22 May 2008 22:43 (eighteen years ago)

haha, wow, I will! I can't wait to do so.

I had a pretty unbelievable weekend at the hospital myself... just two days and some of it was so WOW. (some good, some bad, some gross, some terrifying...)

Sara R-C, Thursday, 22 May 2008 22:44 (eighteen years ago)

i woke up at 6am this morning to the sound of someone dry-heaving v v loudly right outside my bedroom door. i almost had a heart attack. in retrospect, it was probably a cat with a furball.

Rubyredd, Thursday, 22 May 2008 23:37 (eighteen years ago)

(my bedroom is detached from the main house, with external access only)

Rubyredd, Thursday, 22 May 2008 23:37 (eighteen years ago)

ha ha, that would have been startling!

Sara R-C, Friday, 23 May 2008 00:45 (eighteen years ago)

OMFG dudes I just got handed a stack of like a dozen resumes and told by my PM to review all of it
WHY DO PEOPLE THINK THEY NEED SEVEN PAGES OF TINY LETTERS SINGLE SPACED TO GET A JOB
oh right because some of them have 15+ years of experience developing and maintaining applications in COBOL on fucking Honeywell 6000s and IBM 1410s and shit
I'm not kidding at least one of these motherfuckers is a straight up museum piece. I have to get him in for an interview at least

El Tomboto, Friday, 23 May 2008 00:46 (eighteen years ago)

I think I may be that dude who takes work to the bar with him tonight

El Tomboto, Friday, 23 May 2008 00:46 (eighteen years ago)

Yikes that sounds exhausting.

If he mentions BASIC on his resume, I think you should hire that guy.

Sara R-C, Friday, 23 May 2008 00:49 (eighteen years ago)

come on election results, tum te tum sitting doing nothing waiting for you while press men shout at me.

stet, Friday, 23 May 2008 01:02 (eighteen years ago)

So, just so no one else goes through the 24 hours of hell that I just went through:

If you have an nVidia video card on your computer and you are using the DVI connector rather than the VGA connector, hang on to the VGA connector cable. Whenever you update the drivers, the card will revert to using the VGA connector as the primary monitor, meaning that rebooting will cause your DVI-connected monitor to go completely blank once it gets past the Windows startup screen. The easiest ways to get around this are:

- Use the VGA connector instead.
- Hang onto a VGA monitor and hook that up after rebooting. Reset your video settings so that the DVI monitor is the sole primary instead of the VGA monitor, then disconnect the VGA monitor.

This has been another ginchy installment of ITR Tech Support! Where's my Maker's Mark?

There's nothing hotter than tech bulletins.

Sara R-C, Friday, 23 May 2008 04:19 (eighteen years ago)

they get me going for sure

jergïns, Friday, 23 May 2008 06:15 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, this modern world.

Sara R-C, Friday, 23 May 2008 06:26 (eighteen years ago)

Say, I should probably try to sleep or study or something, huh.

Good night, all.

Sara R-C, Friday, 23 May 2008 06:27 (eighteen years ago)

hi guys i'm drunk and i just got home and had like 45 min of drunk talk w/ my roommate which we NEVEr do. it was weird! talkin bout networking and social interactions and marketing bands etc. woah!

tehresa, Friday, 23 May 2008 07:11 (eighteen years ago)

p.s.in celebratory manner i had the following infused vodkas tonight: cranberry, ginger, pear

would have had more but i am not really a fan of vodka.

tehresa, Friday, 23 May 2008 07:12 (eighteen years ago)

Hello, TZA, in order not to hate vodka, you need some Polish Bison Grass vodka and some apple juice, plus sprig of mint or slice of lime. This is kind of the national drink of Poland.

suzy, Friday, 23 May 2008 07:25 (eighteen years ago)

see now that sounds good

jergïns, Friday, 23 May 2008 07:26 (eighteen years ago)

see to me that just sounds like too much work.

tehresa, Friday, 23 May 2008 07:32 (eighteen years ago)

why you gotta disguise shit? if it's not fit to be drunk purely, why drink it at all?

tehresa, Friday, 23 May 2008 07:32 (eighteen years ago)

the ginger vodka was actually awesome. i have been trying to figure out the perfect ginger-mint-lemonade-bourbon combo and now am thinking that i shoud infusions are key. simple syrup w/ ginger infusion plus lemonade plus bourbon plus fresh mint sprinkled in just might work.

tehresa, Friday, 23 May 2008 07:35 (eighteen years ago)

muddling mint in lemonade: bad idea

tehresa, Friday, 23 May 2008 07:35 (eighteen years ago)

because of the color?

jergïns, Friday, 23 May 2008 07:39 (eighteen years ago)

it gets brown and bitter. so color + flavor. acidity = bad news bears for mint.

tehresa, Friday, 23 May 2008 07:39 (eighteen years ago)

National Drink of Poland involves no muddling or crushing of any kind. Bisongrass blade in the bottle imparts a FRESH! taste to the vodka and this is mixed with supermarket-standard apple juice.

I have been known to throw the two ingredients into a blender with ice and make-a da slushie.

However it is made the mint or lime just gets plopped in as-is at the end. Try one.

suzy, Friday, 23 May 2008 11:17 (eighteen years ago)

i am intrigued as to quite what makes the grass bisony. but that's probably not important now.

Upt0eleven, Friday, 23 May 2008 11:22 (eighteen years ago)

suzy, Friday, 23 May 2008 11:27 (eighteen years ago)

I now want some Bison Grass Vodka.

I <3 Google: http://www.anybooze.com/zubrowka-bison-grass-vodka-376-p.asp

Upt0eleven, Friday, 23 May 2008 11:39 (eighteen years ago)

Hooray! Application finished, off to Kinkos type place with sheets of nice paper....

suzy, Friday, 23 May 2008 13:18 (eighteen years ago)

An hour and a half and then I are DONE for 9 days. Brighton and Barthelona await. (i have a return flight now so all is well).

Upt0eleven, Friday, 23 May 2008 14:26 (eighteen years ago)

I think I'm going camping this weekend. I predict it will suck.

HI DERE, Friday, 23 May 2008 15:18 (eighteen years ago)

Wait, why are you going then?

And do you not like camping in general, or is it just this particular trip that will suck (and why)?

Sara R-C, Friday, 23 May 2008 15:28 (eighteen years ago)

Because I predict that I will never, ever go camping because I think it would suck.

Sara R-C, Friday, 23 May 2008 15:29 (eighteen years ago)

(ha ha, btw, A. thinks he wants to walk the Appalachian Trail someday. Guess who's going to be going alone on that trip!)

Sara R-C, Friday, 23 May 2008 15:30 (eighteen years ago)

In evil library fine guy news -- I am at the desk and wearing a Swervedriver shirt. All is right with the world.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:00 (eighteen years ago)

I am gong because it's with J's coworkers and she wants to go. I predict it will suck because we are all in our 30s and not teenagers/college students anymore and therefore have gotten used to things like paying for hotels with showers and television and buying dinner rather than cooking it on a campfire as integral parts of our entertainment. (The invite, which is for a weekend-long trip, specifically said "bring food if you want it", to which I was like wtf.)

HI DERE, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:04 (eighteen years ago)

All is right with the world.

All might be right with your world Mr. Ned. I think the rest of it could do with some work. :p

Upt0eleven, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:05 (eighteen years ago)

RRRRRRRSSSSSPCT 4 DA SWERVEDRIVER

Upt0eleven, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:06 (eighteen years ago)

time to fly. wooop.

Upt0eleven, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:06 (eighteen years ago)

Dan, I nominate you for husband of the year for being willing to go. "Bring food if you want it...?" Wow. I hope this isn't going to wind up with some kind of Donner Party ending.

Ned, you're intimidating me from here!

Sara R-C, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:18 (eighteen years ago)

I like how cheerily Sara says this! "Dan, I *really* hope you don't end up killing and eating each other."

Ned Raggett, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:34 (eighteen years ago)

Ten years from now: "Mom, we're going out camping for the weekend!"

"All right, dear. Bring seasoning."

Ned Raggett, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:35 (eighteen years ago)

Actually Sara's medical expertise would be just what the amateur cannibal needs.

"No, you cut HERE."

*squelch*

"See how much more cleanly that comes off?"

Ned Raggett, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:35 (eighteen years ago)

Hey, those skills really *can* be helpful in a pinch!

Sara R-C, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:44 (eighteen years ago)
