Rubyredd, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 01:23 (eighteen years ago)

ok lxy:

jaffas are these little round balls of dark chocolate coated in an orange candy shell

snifters are a chewy mint egg shape, with a thin coating of dark chocolate and a green candy shell

perky nanas are chocolates bars: 'banana flavoured' chewy stuff (but totally not banana flavour at all, since i hate banana flavour, more like pineapple) covered in chocolate

ooooooo i have to bring pineapple lumps too!

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 01:25 (eighteen years ago)

Rubyred, kumara are US sweet potatoes. From this site: http://www.kumara.co.nz/

"The kumara we eat today has evolved from a larger American variety which grows on a creeping vine. It was imported in the early 1850’s, and was quickly adopted by the Maori for its superior size and taste. Over time a dark red variety developed and named Owairaka Red.

In most other countries they are called sweet potatoes. New Zealand kumara are available in red, gold or orange varieties, each with a deliciously different colour and taste. The majority of kumara is grown in Northland."

Jaq, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 01:32 (eighteen years ago)

yay!

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 01:33 (eighteen years ago)

Also, US sweet potatoes and yams are entirely different things, possibly depending on what part of the country you are in.

Jaq, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 01:33 (eighteen years ago)

ok remy here is what i will do:

i will bring lots of nz 'candy' (LOL @ 'candy', we call them 'lollies') and i will post some to you when i am in the US, since it cost about $7 to send a 50g chocolate bar from here :/

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 01:34 (eighteen years ago)

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 02:03 (eighteen years ago)

Do you not know fontina, Rubyredd? I am sorrowed.

It is true that NZ candies are the greatness.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 03:14 (eighteen years ago)

no, but i'm fairly ignorant in many areas of knowledge.

can someone explain this 'challops' thing i keep seeing all over the place? not to be all tuo_Omas but i always miss out on the meaning of ilx jargon.

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 03:18 (eighteen years ago)

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 03:22 (eighteen years ago)

You guys, there is nothing like coming home after a tough test to a discussion of yams and perky nanas. Thanks; you have all cracked me up once again.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 04:13 (eighteen years ago)

<3 thx 4 making me smile, sara

lxy, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 04:17 (eighteen years ago)

lol perky nanas

tehresa, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 04:23 (eighteen years ago)

makes me think of my friend's gramma who liked to drink high life out of glass bottles in the late morning/early afternoon. she was feisty.

tehresa, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 04:24 (eighteen years ago)

I don't know; "perky nanas" totally sounds like a euphemism for breasts to me.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 04:31 (eighteen years ago)

Which makes is all the more amusing somehow.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 04:32 (eighteen years ago)

they are long and thin and pale yellow.

estela, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 04:39 (eighteen years ago)

and curved.

estela, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 04:40 (eighteen years ago)

how did the test go, sara?

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 04:44 (eighteen years ago)

yes, how did it?

estela, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 04:45 (eighteen years ago)

Well... it went okay I guess. Some of the questions were really easy and other ones I made educated guesses. There was one about isotheria, which we went over for about two minutes in class, and which wasn't anywhere in the reading. I totally guessed on that one and got it wrong.

So... ??? I passed, but I missed a few.

Now I can relax about theory stuff until the final; this weekend I will spend most of my time at the hospital and then when I'm not there I will be sitting here, writing a care plan. It should be... interesting/different/stressful and maybe it will even have some fun moments!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 04:50 (eighteen years ago)

Thanks for asking, you guys. I feel like all I ever do is look at these books and hope I'm getting what I'm supposed to get out of them.

Maybe I will be less boring in the summer!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 04:51 (eighteen years ago)

congratulations on passing!

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 04:52 (eighteen years ago)

Thanks! It is really hard to study for so many hours and then look at a question and have NO idea how to answer. And so much material for so many questions is just hard to sort through; where do you focus?

BUT! Tomorrow I can relax, for just one day. :)

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 04:58 (eighteen years ago)

Sooooooo excited about that, btw.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 04:59 (eighteen years ago)

I'm going to bed because my brain is made of melted cheese right now. Sleeeepy time.

'Night ITR <3

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 05:38 (eighteen years ago)

have anyone seen 'street kings'? i might be going to this tonight. i wanted to go see ironman but my friend adam has already seen it (he always does this to me - i wanted to see juno but he'd already seen it and instead we had to go see 30 days of night which was so so so bad).

it keanu reeves in it.

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 06:25 (eighteen years ago)

i'm going to guess it's bad

jergïns, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 06:25 (eighteen years ago)

yeah but so bad it's good? i mean, i could really go for a lite weight cop action flick, as long as it's entertaining and fast paced. there is NOTHING else on except dumb animation stuff and romantic comedies.

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 06:26 (eighteen years ago)

what about 'tashan'?

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 06:34 (eighteen years ago)

hah jergins otm. keanu = snorez

tehresa, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 06:47 (eighteen years ago)

also juno is fucking dreadful.

wilter, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 06:50 (eighteen years ago)

and i want to watch iron man :]
