hmm now roommate and weekend guest are home and talking and they're not even being that loud but i can hear them and it's bugging me a tiny bit so maybe i will take that break now and watch last night's LOST and caffeinate some more and then resume?

sorry, liveblogging my life here.

tehresa, Saturday, 10 May 2008 03:29 (eighteen years ago)

No problem! I'm with you. I'm saving last night's LOST for tomorrow or Sunday (probably...). I also have Fido, which looks completely bizarre.

I am now DONE with my workout; on to studying/drinking/eating bars/tv watching.

Also, the right side of my neck *always* hurts. I suspect it is a combination of how I hold my head while reading/at the computer and toting giant books around in a bag over my right shoulder.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 10 May 2008 03:34 (eighteen years ago)

I KNOW YOU ARE FASCINATED

Sara R-C, Saturday, 10 May 2008 03:34 (eighteen years ago)

oh god my left shoulder is completely fuxored from the past 9 months of toting.

i actually kept working for a min, but now i'm not so sure again.

tehresa, Saturday, 10 May 2008 03:41 (eighteen years ago)

actually, i AM fascinated. anything that is not about reporting on sales trends making up figures because i don't actually have them (nb: this is not my fault, the organization simply does not keep them) is really interesting!

tehresa, Saturday, 10 May 2008 03:42 (eighteen years ago)

distraction-seeking also led me to create this graph for the ask dr. freud poll.

tehresa, Saturday, 10 May 2008 03:43 (eighteen years ago)

i have a pdf file of a logo for a t-shirt that i want to make bigger, but it keeps telling me i can't save changes. any ideas how i do this?

Rubyredd, Saturday, 10 May 2008 03:54 (eighteen years ago)

hah ask nick?

tehresa, Saturday, 10 May 2008 04:05 (eighteen years ago)

he's asleep, damn him.

Rubyredd, Saturday, 10 May 2008 04:10 (eighteen years ago)

Curt1s Stephens, Saturday, 10 May 2008 04:13 (eighteen years ago)

ages ago! dude you are behind the times.

Rubyredd, Saturday, 10 May 2008 04:14 (eighteen years ago)

WHAT YEAR ARE WE IN

Curt1s Stephens, Saturday, 10 May 2008 04:17 (eighteen years ago)

don't disturb him, when he wakes he will need all that energy for graphic designing (i hope!)

tehresa, Saturday, 10 May 2008 04:17 (eighteen years ago)

that was an xpost

tehresa, Saturday, 10 May 2008 04:17 (eighteen years ago)

Rubyredd, Saturday, 10 May 2008 04:42 (eighteen years ago)

tehresa you must escape to a better place

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 10 May 2008 05:03 (eighteen years ago)

so many papers and post-its. at least it was really shitty out today so i don't feel as bad about being stuck in this hellhole.

tehresa, Saturday, 10 May 2008 05:06 (eighteen years ago)

A place that involves sleeping xp

Sara R-C, Saturday, 10 May 2008 05:07 (eighteen years ago)

Did you know that you can have dialysis through your abdominal wall, using the peritoneal membrane as the dialysing membrane? I thought I had hallucinated that during lecture, but apparently it was not just a strange waking dream.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 10 May 2008 05:09 (eighteen years ago)

i go to work now, hope my boss isn't an asshole tonight. feeling v v anxious ;_;

Rubyredd, Saturday, 10 May 2008 05:16 (eighteen years ago)

good luck!

tehresa, Saturday, 10 May 2008 05:20 (eighteen years ago)

sara, that is fascinating (not sarcastic)

tehresa, Saturday, 10 May 2008 05:20 (eighteen years ago)

It sounds kind of crazy to me, but apparently about 10% of dialysis is done that way. I am going to read about kidney transplants next. I'm kind of excited about that since a friend of mine actually had one ten years ago.

RR - good luck tonight! Sending you good thoughts...

John Justen, Saturday, 10 May 2008 05:27 (eighteen years ago)

John, honey, back away from the computer and get K. to hold your hand or something. You'll feel better and we won't worry about you that way.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 10 May 2008 05:30 (eighteen years ago)

p.s. John, I hope you are not really wearing that kind of hat.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 10 May 2008 05:34 (eighteen years ago)

i didn't know till today that the thread title has japanese, and not just a bunch of question marks. ditto catsup's name.

lxy, Saturday, 10 May 2008 06:01 (eighteen years ago)

tehresa thanks for the pie chart over on freud

jergïns, Saturday, 10 May 2008 06:04 (eighteen years ago)

procrastination is my middle name ;)

tehresa, Saturday, 10 May 2008 06:11 (eighteen years ago)

oh this is sucking so much rrrrggggggghhhhh

John Justen, Saturday, 10 May 2008 06:16 (eighteen years ago)

awww. we are all having SO MUCH FUN tonight!

can someone tell me the difference between "audience profile" and "customer profile"? i don't get this:

III. Situation Analysis
Sales Trends
Audience Profile
Operational Challenges
Conclusion

V. Customer Profile
Demographic and Psychographic Information
Target Audience Member Profile

doesn't everything in the first part of V. go into audience profile? why would you include it twice?

tehresa, Saturday, 10 May 2008 06:20 (eighteen years ago)

is Audience a subset of Customer? or maybe it's just a badly written assignment?

lxy, Saturday, 10 May 2008 06:26 (eighteen years ago)

i think customer is more a subset of audience, and yes, it is a horribly written assignment bc this guy is an idiot (see me going out for drinks after 45 min phone call w/ him because he made me so mad), but you can't really vary from it because he has no mind for creativity, only carbon copies of what he thinks you should do.

tehresa, Saturday, 10 May 2008 06:31 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, I really don't get your assignment, tehresa.

John, GO TO BED. Pack more tomorrow.

I'm going to go to bed myself shortly. Words in textbooks no longer making sense!

Sara R-C, Saturday, 10 May 2008 07:10 (eighteen years ago)

So yeah, good night all.

(And if you're still up doing homework, tehresa, give yourself a break and go to bed finally!)

Sara R-C, Saturday, 10 May 2008 07:13 (eighteen years ago)

Is this for arts admin MA? Hmm, some examples of customer not same as audience could be:

Parents buying tickets etc. for their kids
Gift tickets generally
Institutional block-buys of any kind, esp. field trips, charity nights - the audience is say a bunch of people with MS while the customer is the person on the MS society who greenlights an outing. You can be part of the audience before joining the customer base.

Audience is more likely the place to focus on access issues, eg, getting people to the point where they want to be spectators. Also 'customer' implies a transactive relationship while audience implies aesthetics/appreciation so you're looking at stuff like Development's relationship with donors and who buys the cheap seats and how to make it verrry easy for people to get tickets to stuff on top of all that.

suzy, Saturday, 10 May 2008 10:46 (eighteen years ago)

so work was not so bad: my boss apologised without apologising... "look i had a think about what you said, and i understand where you were coming from, and i didn't mean what i said in a negative way, but i'm not apologising'.

Rubyredd, Saturday, 10 May 2008 13:56 (eighteen years ago)

there is also a whole section devoted to audience development where access issues will be discussed, as well as a market research section. actually thikning about what you've said, audience profile could possible be '10% subscribers, 10% group sales, etc.' which is just fanstastic since i don't have those figures... but thanks for the idea!

tehresa, Saturday, 10 May 2008 14:13 (eighteen years ago)

heh i am making them upeducated guesses now.

tehresa, Saturday, 10 May 2008 14:25 (eighteen years ago)

ruby, you are a much bigger person than i!

tehresa, Saturday, 10 May 2008 14:47 (eighteen years ago)

hahaha don't forget COMMUNITIES!

suzy, Saturday, 10 May 2008 15:31 (eighteen years ago)

my watch officer left a voicemail last night asking me why and how we got so blasted. it made me feel better.

El Tomboto, Saturday, 10 May 2008 16:25 (eighteen years ago)

cause last night peoples got FUCKED UP

El Tomboto, Saturday, 10 May 2008 16:29 (eighteen years ago)

i dont know or want to know what a watch officer is but that sounds like incredibly good news as long as you subtly let him know it was his fault xp

deeznuts, Saturday, 10 May 2008 16:30 (eighteen years ago)

1. boss had to be escorted, so drunk he could not walk to his car (wife drove)
2. ex-dev chief, wife, and our missouri telecommuter flown in for the week were staggered (did jager shots with them myself) and ppl at my table requested I follow them out to ensure they were properly put inside a taxicab
3. see above about voicemail because ha ha WHOOPSIE DAISY yeah I don't really remember how I got home either

El Tomboto, Saturday, 10 May 2008 16:33 (eighteen years ago)

I can't get the phrase DRUNKITY DRUNKO the DRUNKTRON DRINKER out of my head. I'm also really impressed with myself to be awake at noon.

El Tomboto, Saturday, 10 May 2008 16:35 (eighteen years ago)

Tom, YOU had quite a night last night!!!

RR, wow, your boss.

tehresa - glad you are making some progress (?)

suzy - you rock! (hmmmmm, what do you know about glomerular filtration rates...?)

Sara R-C, Saturday, 10 May 2008 17:01 (eighteen years ago)

i am pretending to make progress, though really not that much. i just folded 'audience profile' into 'sales trends' and called it 'sales trends and audience breakdown' a very brief guess-analysis and then all the demo and psycho stuff will go into customer profile.

totally jealous of tom's night.

tehresa, Saturday, 10 May 2008 17:19 (eighteen years ago)

so i went out drinking w. coworkers, such as they are, last night. it was very nice and all, but i really hate being 'new guy' and having to explain my sordid and somewhat depressing past - and my constant evasions really draw more attention than anything else - so it was very meh.
